We're Doing Something Right

I was chuffed to see these quotes from some of the Swindon players after the game

"They make it hard for you and they’re a horrible side to play against. But they’re good at what they do.

“They usually stick two strong lads upfront, the midfielders get stuck in and help it on and they don’t play much fancy football"

"We never really got going and Brentford’s game plan worked. They hit the front men and picked up the second balls"

“It’s different isn’t it. You’ve got the fans really close to the pitch and then Martin Allen on the touchline drumming into his players what he wants from them.

“There wasn’t a lot of football played, it was a battle and I think they outfought us in the end.”

Isn't this great - we are difficult to play against and nobody relishes coming to GP !!

I think your sample size of 1 won't stand-up to much statistical scrutiny. However, your point is taken.

Actually these are separate quotes from 4 of their players !!!

We're Doing Something Right

That's even worse! It was 1 team out of 23, not it's 4 players out of (say) 23*20. :D

Who gives a s**t !!

It's all part of our getting our pride back !

Spot on
I think that the crowd on saturday in the second half were worth a point in themselves. We have all been to grounds and envied their intimidatory passion so it was great to see a fledgling fortess GP attitude come out. We ain't pretty but then it aint a beauty contest!!

Some moe good stuff from the Swindon local paper

"IF you were to put League One clubs into a playground scenario then Brentford would be the tough-looking group sneaking a crafty fag by the bike sheds.

Similarly, if Griffin Park was a pub then it’d be one with a noisy tap room rather than part of a chain with little soul of its own.

You wouldn’t imagine this ancient London ground would be a place for ‘polite’ notices to be observed either but the Bees faithful follow the request to the letter.

The notice in question reads something along the lines of ‘please leave quietly but make as much noise as you can while inside the ground’.

Perhaps the effect is intensified because the main stand is so close to the pitch but the ‘stick’ dished out to visiting players makes the roof rattle."

:sorted: I thought the match report in the local paper was excellent and was reading some of those extracts to the folks at work. They told me to go home at lunchtime. :D

Some lovely quotes and a snapshot of what makes GP such a great place ( for us)..

Take issue with us playing no fancy footie, thought some of our passing and play was just dandy on Saturday!!

And did they not notice we were only playing one up front and you would hardly call Burton "a strong lad"...

Yes. It seems an awful lot busier in there since they stopped showing the game in Stripes. :alcoholic

:sorted: That sort of behaviour tempts me to go back on my word of standing at football until they force me to sit.

Michael Chopra & Stephen McPhail will be getting some stick if they play & come near me tonight. :looks:

I sit near the halfway line in the paddock & whenever an opposition substitution is made the new player has the p!ss ripped out of him by one or two of 'the bigger boys'©nocoat.

After the abuse quietens down there's a bloke nearby who always shouts out "Welcome to Griffin Park". :sorted:

Cracks me up every time rofl lol rofl

Hmm, I know we were a bit long ball in the first half but once Hunty had come on I thought we played some nice footie around their box.
