West Stand Flag

It has been suggested it might be an idea to get all the people interested in making a red wall/Royal Oak or singing section to chip in for a flag, either
(a) massive cross of St George flag with various crests of BFC and say PRIDE OF WEST LONDON. Say 40ft X 14ft
(b) massive red and white sort of synthetic tarp similar to Chelsea one, with BFC badge and PRIDE OF WEST LONDON. Say 75ft X 25ft.

Obviously designs can be agreed via a poll on GPG /FB.

Obviously costs are unknown but I guess you can are looking at £2.5k maybe.

But we do things different. How about using technology. LEDs, holograms, lasers etc. to create a flag/ banner.

West Stand Flag

I was thinking that it would be good to have a/some flags in the West end.
I'd be happy with either of the ideas posted so far.

West Stand Flag

(b) please. The England flag should be reserved for England imo.

Put me down for option a

Hope there’s space for a number of smaller flags too.

Are you thinking of a flag/banner to go at the back of the stand Ace a bit like we have in new rd now or one of those huge flags on poles that tend to get waved when a goal is scored.

It had better not be the latter :very angry:

I think I mentioned it on another thread but it may be worth speaking to the owners of the flags currently dotted around the ground to see if they'd be OK for them to be positioned in the West Stand.

West Stand Flag

Is it one that gets passed over everyone’s head before the start??? I’m worried I might get trapped!!!! ?. I’ll pay a quid or 5 towards one.

West Stand Flag

Haven’t we already got one that was put up next to the away end, and has now mysteriously disappeared?

COME ON YOU REDS

West Stand Flag

I think flags are naff sorry. Like the idea of red and bright white mag lights for night games. Hand them back at the end though.

West Stand Flag

Nothing cheesy that's going to be carried across over head every game.
Somewhere for people to put up their own flags is good

Think this should be how it’s done

As the consultation focus is on interior fit, this is a very good point to bring up at the next meeting. @Ace Face I won't be able to attend.

I am on a course or maybe Marseille prison so can't make it.

I do not like the large flags that are waved when goals are scored etc, like last nights by Roma fans

West Stand Flag

Not my decision but knowing my son, he doesn't mean those ****y flag wavers he means the thing you pull down from the back over heads.

What?????

I'm not sure what you're talking about but I'm having nightmare visions of a Take That concert or Chelsea night game.

Or Middlesbrough play-off games......

If half of us like the idea of the flag and the other half don't will we just compromise and get half a flag?

West Stand Flag

At least the youfffff are getting interested and organised.
Fantastic response to JordanBEE survey as well.
I'd like to to see westwing with a megaphone at the front of the red wall/Royal Oak orchestrating.

West Stand Flag

If I’m honest all of this sounds completely naff to me.

West Stand Flag

I think about 500 red flares would be better. Just my opinion. Maybe us Ultras in the East stand could take care of it!

West Stand Flag

I've no objection to the idea, but I think I'd prefer something original.

Not sure what we could have, but maybe for the first night game, we could make it compulsory for everyone in the West Stand to wear one of these (in red, obviously):

If we all lit them up at Kick Off, it would scare the bejaysus out of people.

Have a long railing where people can attach their own flags to the back of the length of the stand (like the New Road now), seeing the individuality and variety of the Liverpool flags in the week is far better than say the one Chelsea pass over.

100 percent no from me

You’re on the wrong platform Bish. This is the over 30s site!

I’m under 30 and I think it’s a bad idea. I thought we wanted to be individual not copy other clubs especially not Chelsea where the atmosphere is sterile 90% of the time. A flag is not going to improve the atmosphere.

West Stand Flag

If this is coming from the fans I'm fine with it. However, I really do not want any of that contrived, marketing-department-encouraged flag-waving you see at Wolves, Watford etc. That is only one step away from effin' clappers!

100% agree.

Exactly. And this is why this must be 100% supporter led and owned. It’s up to us to make this move work.

West Stand Flag

I like the idea of lights for night games, a drum and maybe clappers. I'm sure Kurt agrees, can't we just turn up and give it our best, flags yes but all the other crap is erm crap.

West Stand Flag

With respect, anything that is decided will not be “supporter owned”.

Only a minority of fans will contribute to any debate, and only a proportion of that minority will want a flag, dancing girls or clappers.
I can’t think of anything worse than organised spontaneity.

The move will work regardless of us trying to be Crystal bloody Palace.

... and your suggestion to try to get some ownership of a section of our new stadium by the 'loyals', like the Royal Oak/Paddock/Ealing Road is?

How did these areas develop at GP?

Organically.

Is it just me or does it appear that Palace's "hard core" who all dress in black (or tits out) comprises of about two dozen blokes max? Always looks a bit naff to me.

West Stand Flag

Any attempt to force anything in football is naff.
Watch the blokes who lead the chanting in the MLS for a cracking example.

Palace's "Ultras" is completely naff !!

West Stand Flag

Stands tight to the pitch is a huge advantage when you're looking to generate a decent atmosphere. Having areas that are designated "equivalent of the Ealing Road" or "equivalent of the Paddock" will also help steer like minded fans.

I picked up some cardboard thing that make a noise from Wembley a few years ago. I could bring that????
