When does Goal difference become irrelevant?

I was thinking given the nature of our side and the attacking MO at what point does just keeping the ball become the plan? I accept each game needs to be won but let's say we were 10 GD difference up in 1st place with three games to go and we are winning 2-0. Keep pushing and risk another goals against which opens up the possibility later of a draw or pass it around for the rest of the game. GD can only be worth 1 point in reality.

The team will play in a specific style with its instructions. Close the game out will be one of them but attacking can be the best form of defence, specifically keeping the ball in the opposition final third.

Attacking is the best form of defence.
I remember taking a one goal lead and trying to sit on without sucess.

Its much better to do what we do, to keep the opposirion defending and to only lose posession deep in their half

No amount of goals can ever be worth 1 point. You could say that goal difference is worth half a point in practice.

It's part of the game. It's called game management. If you're a goal up and the game is deep into stoppage time, why take a risk by going for an additional goal and perhaps allowing the opposition a chance to equalise? The only justification I can think of for not running down the clock would be if we were equal on points with another team and narrowly behind on goal difference with a promotion (automatic or playoff) position at stake.

In a similar situation, another team would do exactly the same. It's good to see that we're not only fast and slick, we can also be street-wise.
