When Lloyd returns...

...it's going to like the second coming on here. Every other post seems to mentioning him and I just can't see his influence being enough. He's on the same career trajectory as Clyde, just a few years younger and although he'll improve what we have now, that's not really saying much

When Lloyd returns...

he'll have as much influence as he did for the first part of last season.......... sod all.

When Lloyd returns...

Heretic! Burn him!

Let us have our little bit of misguided optimism.

When Lloyd returns...

bet we will bee down before he returns. More to this then we think.

When Lloyd returns...

..........is that really a "when" and not an "if".......what is the present status of his injury and prospective return......last I heard talk was of a November return......someone remind me what month we are in......please

When Lloyd returns...

Owusu has got a goal in him, and we're crying out for someone like that. He will give us a bit of threat at least, Kuffour is a decent player but he's never going to be your regular goalscorer.

When Lloyd returns...

It depends what is expected of him.

He will not score the goals to keep us up, he showed that last season, but he probably offers something we don't have elsewhere in the team.

He works the line, holds the ball up, wins his fair share in the air and allows a good striker partner to flourish.

Too often the ball has continually come back at us when we are under the cosh because we have no physical presence up front. That won't happen when Lloyd is fit.

I think he could if we had a stronger team giving him support and service. Kuffour has pace and a good finish, which should complement our supposed quick tempo, passing attacking football... but the second bit hasn't really happened... similar to Henry to Arsenal, only Arsenal have both bits right. Is Leroy too idealistic for League 1?

Yep that is exactly what Lloyd will bring to the side and its what we are depserate for. Only time will tell what overall influence his comeback will make though.

Are you sure about that? Lloyd's big problem last year was trying to play hold up man when that wasn't his game. He'll hassle defenders, create opportunities for the man next to him (as he did for Campbell) but I actually think his weakness is being asked to play the target man.

Lloyd might get us a few more goals but I still think we'll still struggle keeping the ball.

When Lloyd returns...

we need him in goal......give him some gloves...

When Lloyd returns...

He moves like the speed of light compared with the Dutchman but could just be the link player for Jo and Ide etc to play off.

When Lloyd returns...

it will take him two months to start playing at all well and it sill probably all be futile by then. let's not pin our hopes.

'scuse me for being pedantic, but from where I'm sitting, Kuffour IS our regular scorer whereas Lloyd isn't. OK he was in 1999 but he wasn't last year and he won't be this year.

When Lloyd returns...

Lloyd has been our top scorer in each of his 5 seasons with the club (i think he got 1 more than Campbell last year?). He can score the goals to keep us up.

When Lloyd returns...

People ! Do not expect Llyod to come back whenever he does and be a ****ing goal machine. By time he comes back he will still need to get match fit which took him almost half a seaosn last year ?

Also the injury he has good more than likely re-appear or he could always struggle with it.

I've heard hes out for another two months - looking like the New Year.

If he comes back and playd like he did New Year onwards then fantastic.

When Lloyd returns...

He can't be worse than some we have used this year.

But, given his time out, and the poor team he will have alongside him, it is unreasonable to expect miracles. He might however make the difference between 20th and 24th, which is our current destination

When Lloyd returns...

There's two questions I would like asked about Lloyd's injury:

1. Martin Allen allowed him to swan off and play for Ghana. Did he or anyone else check before LO went that if he got injured his wages would be paid for the whole of the injury period? Or any of it?

2. Why the hell is is taking him so long to recover?

Don't hold your breath when he returns. He'll be so ring rusty it will take him the rest of the season to recover any form and stamina.

When Lloyd returns...

Don't think he'll make a lot of difference

To be honest I'm not his biggest fan (don't dislike him just don't think he's as great as some). If he came intpo our side now fit he'd be an improvement. However, it will be a while before he is back in the team and it will then be a few weeks before he is anywhere near firing on all cylinders. My guess is he won't make a massive difference before he leaves in the summer. However, if we were 50:50 to go down in mid-March and he was at full fitness he could make a fair difference.

I assume as it was a non FIFA organised game that we have had to whistle for our compensation.

And Lloydie will take the defence with him giving Jo more space

You wanna bet on that do you????

Having Clyde come on for the second half yesterday made a huge difference. It was like Ide and Kuffour had a big brother out there and he did at least wind up Cullip (which is always nice to watch). I'd hope that Lloyd would do something similar, though hopefully with a little bit more mobility.

When Lloyd returns...

Any amount you want that he won't be topscorer this year.

I'm feeling generous so I'll even give you odds......

He wont be playing this year but as for the season and provided he does get back early new year he will top our goalscoring no problem dont forgey he only had ...was it 3 at Christmas last season and how many did he finish up with?

It took Lloyd a while to get used to the role he was expected to play but by Xmas he was linking superbly with DJ, was the main target, running the channels and scoring goals.

I sincerely hope he can fire as soon as he is match fit, he'll certainly know what is expected of him this year.
