Where's Evo?

Where's Evo?

Out of interest, could you name them?
I'm guessing Man Ure and Crewe are two of them.

Sorry, my mistake. There are only six clubs outside the Premiership who reported an operating profit in 2000/1

Overall operating losses for the 72 FL clubs in 2000/1 were £138million (source: Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu).

So I should have said six (not seven) out of seventy-two (not ninety-two) apologies.

Interestingly only twelve premiership clubs reported an operating profit for the season. This of course, does not take into account any accrued debts from new stadia or previous losses.

So I presume we can take it that Evo won't be joining them?

Where's Evo?

What makes people think Crewe are in profit? I can't remember them selling any players for a while, they've just been relegated and their gates are terrible. I don't know anything about their financial status but I'm just curious as I would assume they would be in debt.

Where's Evo?

I dont think Crewe are running at a profit as they are struggling with a new stand they have built. They are trying to off load players aswell. :D :D

Where's Evo?

Evo certainly knows how to pick his clubs .........

Shrewsbury - Team captain dropped for showpiece Wembley final

Bees - possibly most inspirational captain ever, dumped at end of contract

Bradford - all "contracted" players go on strike for tonight's game as they haven't been paid for 3 months.

Who did he upset in a past life??????

Extremely good work by their chairman, no over spending or silly wages, good cup run last season, several sell outs as well.....

basically being run within their means setting realistic targets and selling the odd player now and again (usually a player they've brought up thru their youth scheme).

Bradford's chairman will allegedly lose a fortune if (when?) they fold. He put real money into the club, unlike some chairmen we could mention.

Not sure this is true. Alledgedly £8.2m has been taken back by shareholders since 1999.
Also their transfer dealings appear to be somewhat strange. Apparantley a holding company actually purchased many of their top earners and in someway loaned them to the club. There was also some sort of credit term insurance taken out allowing for transfers to be paid in full to the selling club inside two years but then refinanced by a bank on HP over the term of the players contract (4 years in Carbone case). This HP agreement in in turn insured against default. In Bradford case, the current biggest creditor is Gerling Insurance of Germany. Could they give a toss about a British club going bust?
Apparently this is quite common practice in financing transfer deals and the main finance house involved is something that ray Ranson (former Man City player) help start up.

Where's Evo?

News is that Creditors have accepted administration package of 10p in the £. I expect Evo will now be able to sign for them.

Where's Evo?

Carbone recieved 800,000K payment and his contract was terminated. He was owed 2.8 million on the remaining part of his contract. Skynews said he was on 40k a week.

No wonder the club is in the ****

delete the words "be able to" !

I'm sure you are right, however as Coppell is going to Tranmere, maybe he might want Evo up there?

Where's Evo?

Are you sure Coppell is going to Tranmere? He'll find a familiar picture; arrogant millionaire owner no longer interested; boardroom turmoil; no money; discontented crowd and lack of ambition.

As for Evo, another crisis club to be linked with.

Tranmere are another club, officially up for sale. The owner, Peter Johnson (Evertons and their Ron Noades) wants nothing more to do with them. The Chairwoman wants to resign. They are working under strict financial controls with no more purchases, but apparently the board were happy with last year's mid-table performance.

Where's Evo?

Coppell to Tranmere thread is on this board.
Almost every Nationwide club and many premier clubs are in a financial mire. However Coppell does originate from the Tranmere area and played for them as a youngster before a move to Man Utd. So maybe he is drawn by fond memories and his roots.

.

I have seen it on this board, but nowhere else.

Tranmere's website seems to be backing Ray Matthias while the BBC goes into great detail about financial difficulties, but no speculation as to new manager.

Where's Evo?

Any news on Evo? Presume Bradford will wait until last minute to sign players to save on weekly wages. They will have all their pending signings on a trial basis only no doubt.

Where's Evo?

He played against Hull (last Tuesday) and Farsley Celtic on Saturday and is in the squad for tomorrow's visit from Middlesboro.

Hasnt yet been allocated a squad number, so obviosly still on trial.
No mention whatsoever though of Robert Taylor on the Bradford website although he is supposed to be there on loan from wolves with a view to signing.

Where's Evo?

Me thinks he will sign for Bradford on Wednesday!!!
the same day Powelly goes to palarse!!!

!!!

Sheffield Wednesday signed a Paul Evans on the 12th July according to their website. The BBC reckon he is ours (even though he was playing for Bradford this week!!!

Make of that what you will.

He's a south africian goalkeeper I remember reading that as they confirmed the singing of Lyold.

Singing of Lyold!! Are you sure? Is that some northern/south african ritual that I am yet to hear about?

Where's Evo?

As Holysmit said, he is South African GK ex-Leeds and was Huddersfield reserve last year...

wednesday panny?????

Where's Evo?

Evo has signed for Bradford this morning in a four-year deal.

Good luck Paul and thanks for all you did for us.

Four of last season's team now in Division One - shame the rest of us aren't there as well.

Where's Evo?

Did anyone watch the game ? Ivar vs Evo in the midfield, Ivar put a bit of a tough challenge on Evo at one point, commentator remarked on them being old teammates. I thought Ivar did well but Evo looked suited to the football. Had a freekick well saved and also a shot deflected off his on player. Good game though

Where's Evo?

Only saw the first 20 minutes. Must admit, it looked very strange seeing Ivar in a Wolves shirt & Evo in a Bradford shirt. Ivar's shooting hasn't changed over pre-season tho :D & I see Evo has 'treated' himself to a new pair of Adidas boots...

Best of luck in Div. 1 boys...

Where's Evo?

Couldn't believe Dave Jones played Ivar in midfield, what a waste!! If that's an example of his managerial prowess I suspect Wolves will be staying in the 1st division for a lot longer!!

Where's Evo?

I thought that Evo had a very good game, but Ivar is a MUCH better centre-back than a central midfielder. It was so sad knowing that they should have been playing in Div 1 with the Bees!!

When Ivar came to us he did play as a midfielder, I thought he was quite effective there
You mean ineffective!

The only time you realised he was on the pitch was when they read the team out. As a centre back he was one of the best we have ever been lucky enough to see!
