Where's Ijah?

A know a few people have been talking about Steve Hunt as a Bees 'Legend' but imho Ijah was one of the true legends of the last few years.

Last I heard of he'd been released by Brizzell Rovers and probably hasn't got a club. Given that he was unlucky to leave us and was one of our most consistent perfomers, it would be nice to see him sorted. I still reckon he'd give Myers a run for his money (a comment based, admittedly, on pure conjecture as I haven't seen Myers play).

Anyone got any news of him?

Where's Ijah?

I thought he actually asked to leave and thought he would be offered teams in a division above rather than below us. He also made some nusavoury remarks about the club after an auction night in Stripes!

Where's Ijah?

good player though on his day. when he tackled people they stayed tackled

Where's Ijah?

Never rated him. Too lightweight. And thought that he was better than he actually was.

Anti-Brentford or Anti-Noades or Anti-Downes?

Where's Ijah?

Ijah was the most one - footed player I've ever seen.

A good lad in his time though and I can't help thinking that his career was blighted by breaking his leg in training just as Micky Adams took over.

Where's Ijah?

Ijah used to be one of my favourite players until I heard him slagging the club off constantly and going on about how much better he was then the club. So I have no sympathy for him now what so ever. Before anyone says he loves Brentford then why wasn't he at the cenetary day then?

Where's Ijah?

A pure ledge a good bloke always had time to chat to ya gutted when he left hope where ever he is now hes doing well

did he really though or is this just another chinese rumour?

He probabaly came out of the bog and said "the toilets at brentford are cr@p, my home bog is much better", someone heard him and though he said "brentford are toilet and I am much better" etc etc etc...

These romours start and then a few months later we have people like you saying you heard him slag the club of constantly. Well, I never met ijah, but you must be best mates with him if you heard him say it "constantly", or is the reality just that you heard a few rumours "constantly" from people that never met him either?

Where's Ijah?

Still one of my favourites. Forget what he might have said he always gave 100%. :sorted:

Where's Ijah?

I will say this, the look on Ijah's face and his devistated collapse at the end of the Stoke playoff final suggested that he cared.

Where's Ijah?

Ijah! Ijah! Ijah!

A complete & utter leg-end in my eyes. Loved him since day 1. Never shirked a challenge which is my bag.

To this day, I've still got that picture of him stripped to his black pants when we won the Third Division pinned to my board at work. :blush :sneakoff:

I was also always very happy with Ijah. However, maybe his devistation was to do with the fact HE wasn't going to get higher division football and not that Brentford had failed to get it. Just a thought.

I met him a couple of times; once at the Middlesex show just after Coppell had taken over. He was very realistic about his chances of coming back from injury and never said a bad word about the club. I was flattered that he took the time to chat to myself and friend when he didn't really HAVE to at all. An absolute gentleman.
I think Ijah had for many years the same quality that we have attributed to Steven Hunt- a passion for the club which continued despite fading skills.
I wish him well where ever he is playing now.

Ijah played for Bristol Rovers reserves in a psf at Clevedon Town on Thursday night. My son watched the game, but I was out playing darts.

Totally agree Boro.

I loved Ijah`s attititude to the game - "the bigger they are, the harder they fall". Straight out of the rugby coaching manual that is....!
Never ever saw Ijah bottle a 50-50 ; his attitude was first class. If he had been better going forward he`d have played at a much higher level.....defensiveley he was first class and rightly revered at GP :sorted:

Where's Ijah?

Couldn't fault his effort and commitment but his control and passing were crap

Where's Ijah?

:nono:
Met him at a friendly years back at Hayes.
He came across as a decent bloke and I don't take any pleasure in seeing his career struggle since he left.
I think he at least deserves respect for the effort and time he put in at GP even if you don't agree he's a Bees Legend. As for comments he is supposed to have made, well, who knows but lets not forget his contribution over some comments he is alleged to have made.
Good luck matey.

Where's Ijah?

Where's Ijah ? - who cares !

other than his speed, not shirking a challenge and being the first in there if there was a ruck, I thought Ijah was very over-rated. His headless chicken runs down the left wing were cringeworthy and you can ask any of the players from around that time about the hospital balls he used to dish out time after time after time !

Nice goal at Chester away on the Tuesday night tho ', was that his only one for us ?

I have still got his brentford Jumper from that day!! I thought he gave his all for the club.

Remember that one well but it was not his only one for us.

I recall when Ijah first joined us he played as an attacking left-winger for a while and grabbed a goal against Walsall in the league cup (3-2?).

Also remember a great header against Wrexham which was the winner in a 1-0 win, about 95/96.

A legend and a nice bloke.

Where's Ijah?

I remember ijah's first game away at rotherham and he was playing as a left winger and he was absolute pants!

however was always an ijah fan and was always one of my favourite players.

anyway best of luck to him

Where's Ijah?

Decent bloke, hope he was well paid off by Brizzle Rovers.

At 28 still plenty of time to be picked up by another team.

Good luck Ijah.

Where's Ijah?

Atkins must have thought he was hopeless. Having seen them a couple of times this year their left back is weak.

Where's Ijah?

We played Reading a few seasons ago. And i was lucky enough to go on a corporate beano. Anyway Ijah played centre half/sweeper that day, and was fantastic. So much so that all the people i was with wanted to give him the man of the match award. Only to be told they couldn't as he wasn't a home player. I liked the fact that he always tried to get an oppostion player who was on a yellow into a ruck, so he might get him a red, He did it week after week. Gave his all, I think frustration at being so close but yet so far, got the better of him.

Where's Ijah?

Contract terminated  strange really as someone called Anderson played for Bristol Rovers on saturday.  :fishing:

Mind you, I wonder if Ijah fancies a game tomorrow night?

It would be great to see Ijah back in a Bees shirt, but how many prodigal sons have returned, only for us to wish they hadn't? Remember Carl Hutchings coming back and playing like ..... well not as good as he used to be.

Where's Ijah?

What's a "Barnsley schemer" - Dean Gorre?? Is it a euphemism for a "screamer"? "He was as Barnsley schemer as Julian Clary!"

Where's Ijah?

Where's Ijah?

One of my favourite ever Bees players, the sight of 6'8" clodhopping midfielders going into a 50-50 ball with him with a wry smile as they envisaged knocking the little man into the stands, only to come away minus the ball & several limbs, used to be worth the admission on its own.
