Look, there are two reasons why I object so strongly to the MK franchising experiment.

The first concerns the sheer unfairness of the situation; the fact that a group of supporters, much like us, can have their club and their hard won league place stolen from them and given to an artificial creation which has done nothing to deserve its new status deeply offends the sporting sensibilities of myself and many others. You may not understand that viewpoint any more than than you seem to understand why some people might be concerned about animal welfare issues, injustices in the Middle East or the privitisation of nationalised industries, but I'm afraid that its a principle that matters to me.

Secondly though - and this is much closer to home - the decision in the Wimbledon/MK Dons case sets a very dangerous precedent. For the first time all small and impoverished clubs with only a modest fanbase (does that ring any bells?) are liable to be uprooted from their local communities and transplanted to another part of the country. Today Wimbledon to Mk, tommorow, what? Orient to Basingstoke? And maybe, the day after, Brentford to Warrington? That is why the MK experiment must fail, because it would then be much less likely to be repeated. The 'I'm all right Jack' attitude doesn't wash I'm afraid. I loathe MK Dons and everything that they stand for precisely because of the potential threat it poses to the long term future of BFC. That is much more important than the short term issue of whether we get promotion or not this season.

There will be councils,profiteers and glory-seekers watching the fate of the franchise,and if by some horrible mischance it were to succeed,it would be cited as the way forward for smaller lower-league clubs,much in the same way as creeps like Mellor advocated the absorption of smaller clubs as 'nursery teams' for the really important clubs like Chelsea.
This is not just about Wombles/MK,it really could be us one day.

All to political for me,if it means brentford needs to move to survive,then they have to move,i was born in brentford and brentford has always had a football team,i love my team and i wouldnt be able to support another if brentford went out of buisness.I dont really no why wimboldon had to move in the first place ,but im sure that somebody didnt start of to try and ruin the football club.when there is a death there is always a new life,im sure the m.dons supporters love there team,and dont go to the matches just to annoy old wimboldon supporters.In 25 years time if the dons went out of buisness,im sure that people like yourselfs will be just as upset,and also myself,because nobody would want to loose anything that is important to them,but if you feel you are doing the right thing thats your oppinion,would you stop comming to brentford if we brought one of the dons players knowing that the money was going to the people you seem to hate so much.I just dont want people handing out red cards ect on th night of the match,because it isnt our fault that due to peoples mistakes ,wimboldon fc is no more.Im sure if the russian decided to leave chelsea and take all his money and leave them bankrupt your be right up protesting that this cant happen,its buisness,its who runs the buisness that holds the key to success,thats why i hope that brentford is in the hands of the right people(not so sure yet).

I would always give the entrance fee to BU rather than go to MK, on principle. (Although with a young kid the last couple of years away attendances have been big games only, so you can call me "glory hunter" if you like)

Interesting reading the old debate, but I just don't see it as an either/or between supporting your team and refusing to give MK money. For me football is about my local team striving for success in a league of equals (broadly speaking). I object to any change which either makes teams not "local", or which destroys the principle of a league of roughly "equals".

I therefore don't agree that Wimbledon should have gone to MK. If MK wanted a team they should have built up from the bottom, and at the beginning of every season my wishes are for BFC promoted and Fulham, QPR and MK relegated. My view of MK might change if they get relegated down to below the conference and come back up, but I'll reserve judgement 'till that happens.

I also therefore disagree with the culture of "rich benefactors" who distort the game, whether it be Al Fayed, a russian mafiosi, or whoever. And don't even start me on the Premiership, which was only set up to further imbalance the financial basis of the league structure...

So, imho, we can't afford to let MK Dons set a successful precendent that destroys the basic premise of why I watch football. They are the only club I would happly see go bankrupt, sending out a warning to both the FA, the FL and any other circling profiteers - if you want a successful football club, build one up from the bottom.

:yes: Somebody asked me recently what it would take for me to view Franchise as a 'normal' club. My answer was just that - if they are relegated to the depths of the non league pyramid and then fight their way back up then they would at least have earned their right to a league place.

I'm going to MK again this year, as I did last year, standing in the pouring rain, playing with ten men, and deserving 3 points...supporting the team, especially at this time of the season when the team require our support more than ever. Swallow your pride and help the bees put the final nail in there coffin. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

Unfortunately they did. It was an entirely cynical move by Wimbledon's owners at the time (the Norwegian bussinesmen; Roke and Gjelksten?) in order to benefit from a deal with Asda, which could only get planning permission for a new store in MK if it was tied to the development of a new stadium - and a club had to be found in order to justify the stadium. A small number of people have profited handsomely from this deal.

Your question about my feelings if we were to buy a player from MK is a neat one, but its not an exact parallel. I have no control over how BFC spends its money, whereas I do have discretion over whether I personally put money directly into the Franchises's coffers. Ultimately I'm simply trying to do what I think is best for BFC - that is why I shall be making the trek to Swansea, Rotherham and all our other away games in the run in, but not taking that easy journey to Milton Keynes.
