Which end?

For the last three home games we have played towards the Brook Road end in the first half. I always like it when we play that way in the second half mainly because I sit there and there seems to be a better atmosphere. Any significance in this other than the obvious toss up and captains prefered choice of ends ? Surely teams must prefer playing towards their own supporters later on in the game.

Which end?

I generally groan when we attack Brook Road in the first half - we seem to be more likely to get a good result when we do it second half (no stats, just my superstition, perhaps).

I don't know who won the toss in these games, but I'd attack the Ealing Road first half this time of year because the low sun after about 15 minutes can create problems for defences.

Which end?

Most teams will find it an advantage to attack the end housing their home support in the 2nd half (unless weather conditions are a factor). So any away team that wins the toss will take away that advantage if it can.

Which end?

I would also like to see some statistics related to the amount of play taking part in the New Road half of the field versus the Braemar Road half.As a Paddock season ticket holder I feel that I am being short changed when it comes to close action play.

Although if the away team has brought a large following & they are behind the opposite goal they will usually want to play towards their own fans in the 2nd half too

One thing I can guarantee though, if I decide to sit behind the goal before kick-off using my judgement based on the above, Brentford will always end up kicking into the opposite goal necessitating a mad dash up to the other end of the park for me :(

Hey! What sort of anoraks do you think are out there???

I certainly feel more confident when we play towards the Wendy House in the second half.

Perhaps that should read less un-confident!!

Come on Rod even as we speak there are a bunch of geeks analysing the footage from every game since 1947 in order to give me an answer....which of course I will take at face value.lol

i am old enough to remember when we all used to go behind the goal we were were attacking and then at half-time,just walk round to the other end.

I used to lurk halfway along the New Road stand and then gallop to the right end as soon as the toss had been made. Anyone remember (eg markbfc) when they stopped us being able to do that - was it 1985 or so?

They started segregating on a permanent basis around 1980.

Dunno about 'a bunch' of geeks, it'll probably just be markbfc !

I've realised this too. It's much better when we are attacking the Brook Road End (not literally), but the crowd need the first half to warm up the voices. Now BR is pretty loud at the start, yet halfway into the second half, the atmosphere just isn't the same.

Last season it was bad also, I remember that terrible result against Bournemouth happened and another dire match, which was so forgettable...I can't remember which one it was
