Is there anyone outside of the England set up who would pick Dernbach?
Bangladesh?

But at least Ashley Giles won't get the Test Coach job now.

The win over Sri Lanka was a prime example of one player, primarily, producing a truly stunning innings and papering over the deficiencies elsewhere in the side. That can happen in T20, occasionally in the 50-over format (Kevin O'Brien's innings for Ireland against England a casing point) but will seldom happen in Test cricket.
Sadly I think he will. If they can persist with Dernbach for this long, they can persist with Gilo.
No one wants either of them.
As for Cook, well he's made his position untenable for me, making Pietersen the scapegoat will back fire massively, as any poor result (and with the players we have available to us there will be a few) will be met with massive disapproval.
I'm not a massive fan of Pietersen as a person, but it's clear he's been hung out to dry. All the players who were there who have spoken on the matter said he did no wrong.
Didn't see any of the game yesterday being in Oldham but interesting that Broad has admitted he may not continue as Captain. Personally I'd make Morgan t20 and ODI captain, I know he's out of form but I think he's still our best player in those formats and strikes me as an aggressive captain.
I do actually think we have a good t20 side in the making but we need to find some new bowlers. We don't have any specialist death bowlers and Dernbach clearly isn't the answer. We need more pace at the top of the innings and also a reliable spinner.
The batting actually looks pretty good, Hales looks the real deal and I like the look of Moeen Ali even though he hasn't gone on to make a big score.
Bit of a dilemma today.
Bangladesh v Pakistan
A Pakistan win will send Australia home, they play India later today.
Anyone but Morgan. Aggressive? where has this evidence come from? He would come nowhere near a world 11.
I actually feel sorry for Dernbach - he clearly is not an International player and showed zero form in Australia and WI but still got picked. Everyone could see it except the England management team.
As for Broad - interesting to see that Graeme Smith tweeted exactly what I said last night - he protects himself.
Giles being the test coach - I think it's more or less a done deal. Flower's recommendation I believe is that there should be one coach for all formats. So I guess Giles it is.
Positives: Hales, Ali, Jordan.
lol I can sense your hatred of all things Pakistan ….
He captained in the ODI's against Australia last summer, not much to go on but I felt his field placings were attacking and his style of batting can be a positive influence. I feel we need the same captain in both ODI and t20 cricket so if not Morgan captain then who? Unless they went for a totally fresh start and give the job to someone young like Root or Buttler.
If the last three months have been Giles' audition for the job then I don't see how he can be given the job but then I agree it does seem like he is going to get it. If the ecb genuinely had other candidates they were looking at then I'm sure we would have heard some names by now but it's all gone quiet.
Enjoying the tournament so far, fancy maybe an India vs South Africa final.
Bangladesh must be the worst fielding side in world cricket.
Cheerio Aussies!

Although didn't see the game but great win by India against the Aussies. Without Johnson it appears their bowling attack is really weak. Good to see India winning when batting first.
