Well if we are talking about the 92 championship year, then yes it couldn't have been Reading on Boxing day, it was a Tuesday night and we drew 0-0,

I thought we won 2-1 that game? Or am I thinking of the year we got the play offs at Tranmere?

Going back a long way........

we got beat 6-0 at Southend in the early eighties.

That was a real dire performance as was Wigan in 91-92 on a Friday night if I recall.

Sorry: worst away day wasn't for a Bees game. It was Colchester about 30 years ago for an evening game (they were playing Palace).

Went by myself and walked back to the station. Got lost en route and only got there for the last train, occupied by myself and just about no one else. Which ran slowly - very slowly. Arrived at Liverpool Street after the last tube had gone, without any money. Walked from there to Richmond (and of course, I had no map). I guess in terms of distance that's about a half-Wycombe. Only company was a mouse that ran beside me for about five minutes.

Compare that to three mates who got stuck at a Swindon v Palace match and got given a lift back to London in the team coach (back in Big Mal's or Venables' days, I seem to remember). Jammy gets.

Fixed up a hotel for the wife and then two children in Lake Windermere thinking Brunton Park would only be 45 mins or so away.
Drove up from London to find a blanket of snow and blizzard conditions north of Manchester.
Dropped the family off and gave myself an hour and half to get to the game just in case of snow drifts etc.
After an hour's driving I was only just getting on the M6 and had to floor it to get to Carlisle on time.
Arrived with minutes to spare after checking radio for what I thought would be the inevitable postponement.
It never came and I took my place in the stand with 18 or so other Bees fans.
Brentford were poor and Carl Hutchings was sent off to the delight of the racist United fans who made monkey noises as he walked off.
I protested and told them they were neanderthals and almost got my head kicked in - left the ground after the defeat courtesy, I think, of a Rory Delap goal, very sheepishly.

if that was on a saturday and the goal was Ijahs fault, then i played cards with McGhee on the train on the way home :bound: :beer: then i had to go and bee sick :drunk:
I quite enjoyed that awayday :yes: apart from having to sleep in a waiting room in reading as i overslept on the waterloo to 'NAM line ahhhhhh the memories :love2:

Grimsby away on a Tuesday night-can't remember the date. Got the coach (I was young-but what was I thinking???). Some old bloke was rather 'ill' on the way home- puked and shat all over the coach floor and toilet (which I was sitting next to). Was a very long journey home!!!

The other one that sticks in my mind was a 2nd replay of the old league cup against Southend who we always seemed to get drawn against. In the days before penalty shoot outs the 2nd relay had to be on neutral ground. The organisers in their wisdom chose Millwall as a neutral ground. I remember little of the game other than we lost but plenty about the bricks raining down on us from the old grassy knoll at the back of the ground being thrown by Millwall supporters. I seem to have a recollection of Brentford & Southend supporters joining forces to fight the common enemy. Anyone else at that game & able to verify what may well be an incident exaggerated by the mists of time.

I remember that one well although I don't remember much fighting back from us. We lost 2-3 and that tw*t Roger Kirkpatrick was the ref that night. What maniac chose the Den as venue for this one I would like to know. At least Southend got away with much of it because they had blue and white scarves.

I still vote for Bristol City away in 93 although the Guildford cup replay in 67 was terrible as well.

Admittedly I haven't been to as many away games as I'd like to have done, maybe it's becuase this game scarred me at such a young age.

I remember my dad driving me down the M4 feeling so hopeful, I would have been 9 years old.

A 4-1 reverse, a lot of tears and a very long drive back home.

I just remember feeling really angry after that game. How could a team perform so badly with so much at stake. Disgraceful.

I had to drive home to Aberdeen - via Newcastle to drop off my brother - which meant that we cuaght up with all the happy Sunderland fans - as we had red and white stripes on too they were sharing their happiness with us - which was not reciprocated

Lincoln away in the 80's, cold wet (I think) Tuesday night, McNichol sent off (kicked the bucket on the way off the pitch), trouble from locals, and a long journey home by coach. lost 1-0

Also although the day was great, when we beat Huddersfield 3-1 in promotion season, the locals tried to make it a day to remember. Driving across the Penines in a coach with not many windows was very unpleasent. Leaving the stand some yorkie said to my mate what a bunch of w*nkers Brentford were, and with the best Yorkshire accent my mate (born and bred Brentford) agreed and added a few comments himself, how we survived I do not know. Locked in the ground for half an hour while the police got rid of the mob idea: perhaps thats what we could have done against SW). Remember PG being escorted around the pitch during the first half proudly wearing his red/white scarf.

Aldershot 0-5? took my wife (then girlfriend and WHU fan) most embarrasing, strange she did buy a season ticket with me when my Dad moved, never did convert her though.

1) just before new year 1998 down at gillingham. we lost 3-1, it was pissing down and had to go for a leak in an open air bog which had 3 walls and a plastic gutter

2) getting pissed on again at the LDV cup final with port vale. that was heartbreaking, especially after dobson sunk in the first goal and the bees half of the ground erupted.

3) and, getting pissed on again at luton town in the same season, losing 3-1. it seems to be whenever the bees play away and it pisses down they don't stand a chance.
