Who was Hooker. Not disputing you, can't personally remember. As for LM, who was the ex-QPR guy who nicked stuff from the dressing room? Or did I dream hat?

Mick Maskell came from Chelsea I think for the dressing room incident.
Also remember the J Hooker ,but going back further there was Keith Hooker who wasn t that great.
GK-Bill Glazier , cost us game ,or at least replay at Old Trafford.

Worst every position?

Dirk Hebel, Fortune West, Kevin Dearden

Worst every position?

GK Bayes

RB Gus Hurdle/Jay Lovett
LB Mark Fleming/Clive Goodyear

CB Shane 'Tripod' Westley
CB Leon Townley 'the dancing bear'

RW Kevin Dennis, Tony Sealey, Lee Harvey
LW Darren Annon,

CM Alan Dickens, Paul Davis,
CM Jay Smith, Hutch (purely for the partnership with Smith, worst ever IMO)

CF Keith Bowen, Murray Jones
CF Mickey Droy (yes he did play up front for us for a while!)

On the subject of Alan Whitehead, there was a bloke in the old Braemer terrace who always used to shout; "You're worse than bloody Whitehead".. had a major impression on me as a child, him and the chap who used to shout; "Unload him!" a lot... wonder what happened to them...

Mickey Bennett was awful, although a good boxer.

Worst every position?

I liked Hogg too, battler and never gave up and although he was slow he was a proper centre half

Yeh! That was who I was thinking of... where did I get Kevin Dennis from?? Did he play for us????

Was talking about Gareth Graham, midfielder from 2000. Got him from Palace I think.
Sorry about Luscombe, but I wasnt a fan of him getting the ball and sending(many, many) crosses for a goal kick.

Yep, knifed some bloke to death in the Ealing Broadway Boulevard.

At the same sort of time there was a nippy winger in the team called Ryan Denys, who scored two in the first two games of one season, then was never heard of again. What happened to him???

Worst every position?

LB - Kenny sansom for me he was way way past it when he played for us

CF - That beadle bloke who played a few games and left for barnet
CF - Claridge

So sh1te that he's just signed for Coventry in the Championship all those years after having left us !

bees66, that really is a pony post of yours - Watson was by far and away a better player than Ijah, was highly rated by all the players, if he had the extra pace he would have been in the Premiership. He had a cracking left foot and a tasty right foot therefore very versatile setting up many, many goals from Right Back or Left back positions and free kicks

Dunno - but I'll always remember him hitting the bar at the Dell in the League Cup... Great strike.

And Graeme Hogg was good for us, as, in my opinion, was Luscombe.

Worst every position?

biggest waste of talent thread: Paul Stephenson.

and yep, Hogg was a good solid no nonsense all effort centre-half. He almost did the job that Fitz (Snr) did for us two seasons ago. He just defended and held his line and organised and battled.

I also think that Allan Cockram was an underrated ball playing midfielder who probably didn't do as much as he could have.

Luscombe was decent too.

Didn't Hogg score against Fulham at Craven Cottage when we drew 1-1 on Micky Adams return to the cottage.

no that was Nigel Gleghorn

Worst every position?

how Micky Adams said he would love forever for that. Adams also gave probably the most memorable quote in years. when he was asked why he always stood on the touchline (which some may recall was a fashion amongst managers for a time) rather than staying in the dugout he declared the problem was the the Bees fans kept singing "stand up if you have Fulham..."

Nigel Gleghorn, a Bees Legend for 'that' goal imho !

hanworthbee said:

one of the happiest moments of watching the Bees was when that goal went in !

Great abuse of Paul Peskydildo

Fulham scum giving it large to our right but six or seven getting a slap from one Bee who waded in to them, got arrested and led out of the ground near us to a great round of applause - who was that man ?

Worst every position?

surely not as happy as when we did them 4-0 at GP for our first ever double over them and we went and won the title at Posh the week after! class!

Worst every position?

Matt somner, Jay smith, Bankole (really bad last season), lovett, keenan, chorley

Worst every position?

Dean Martin, played against Brighton at home on an iced-up pitch. He was absolutely appalling, not matter how hard he tried. The away support slaughtered him and I felt really sorry for the guy. It wasn't his fault he was crap.

As for Dearden letting a cross from Wilkins in for the only goal of the game...

is this true?
I believe it was his second offence and that he did time for killing someone (his dad?) before he joined us from Arsenal. He might have been sh*te, but I wouldn't tell him to his face!

Why has no-one mentioned Lorenzo Pinamonte yet? We persuaded him to join us rather than Brighton from Bristol City, so they had to find another striker and got this bloke called Zamora from Rovers. Great scouting, Ron!

:imwith: I think Watson was unfairly targetted by the boo boys because he came from Fulham. He was also really a right back, even though he was left footed and Adams brought him in when Ijah broke his leg. I thought he was a better player than Anderson, though I do remember him having an absolute mare against Wigan.

That went down a treat with Premiership friends who like to look down their noses at us lower league oiks.

That is of course the problem, if a keeper makes one mistake the consequences are usually serious. On the other side of the coin, how many times did Dearden rescue us? Remember Wrexham away once?

Worst every position?

That Ryan Denys must have been some player. Looking at the Internet Soccerbase, I see he played in a European match for Bayer Leverkusen in 1987 when he was only 9.

Couldn't be some mistake there, I wonder?

It was probably against the Welsh Cup winners.

Oh God! I remember that.. The bloody supporters coach broke down on the way and we got in late just in time to see Brizzle score in their sh1tehole ground, and then Dearden let that one in and it was all over.. what a sh1t night!!!
