Wycombe reports

Both teams brought in some reserve/fringe players which made for a disjointed first half although the Bee's certainly dominated possesion and created several good chances. Evo went off a couple of minutes before half time with Jay Smith replacing him (hopefully nothing serious) and Williams came on for Price after half time. Second half started zippier. Williams lost the ball on our right and they scored a breakaway goal. Gibbo came on for Lloyd but we could not get back on terms despite one good chance near the end. Gav, Darren, Dobbo and Oli were rested.

All in all not much of a game but at least we can concentrate on league + Steve knows that he has some useful back ups for our key players.

This team always seems to bounce back and it would be great to overcome Boringmouth at the w/e.

How good, Edmundo?

We need his leadership, confidence and goals as he is perhaps the one team member who could be considered irreplacable at the moment.

I've never seen so many players on their arses so often in a match. Lloyd was probably the worse culprit.

There was a heavy shower before the match and the pitch was obviously slippery. It strikes me as lacking in professionalism that no one from either team came and tested the pitch prior to kick off. It was clear that the majority of players had the wrong studs and/or boots on. What is of more concewrn is that nothing seemed to change after half time when there was a bloody heavy shower! Surely a change of studes should have been considered.

Apart from that I thought we were worth a draw over the 90 minutes and considering the lads who played we put up a reasonably creditable performance. Only concern is that we still seem to be lacking someone up front who can put the ball in the net!

Hamstring, hopefully just a strain. But must be doubtful for Saturday.

Interestingly enough, also our most saleable assets...

Best news is the performance of eddie hutch who was excellent. If evo is unfit this chap looks a likely replacement.

Yeah, I did. I presume you are referring to Parry saying that Noades inherited an excellent squad of players from Micky Adams? I read that several times to make sure that my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. Or were you referring to the fact that Ray Lewington seems to have been airbrushed from the historical record?

Alan Parry's proggy notes included ....

"Brentford finished below Wycombe in the Second Division table last season and their improvement has come about since Steve Coppell took over as manager from Ron Noades.

Mr Noades, you will recall, used his position as club chairman to appoint himself as manager and he was in charge of team afairs for three seasons.

He inherited a good squad of players from that excellent manager Mickey Adams (who did such a good job at Brighton) and guided them to the Third Division championship in his first season in charge.

Things didn't work out so well in Division Two and Brentford finished 17th in their first season back at the higher level. Last season saw them claim 14th place.

When he held the unique title of chairman/manager, Mr Noades had the good sense to appoint an excellent backroom team of Ray Lewington and Terry Bullivant. However, in my opinion, Mr Noades' best decision was standing down as manager and letting Steve Coppell take over.

In my view, the running of football teams should be left to the professionals. Mr Noades undoubtedly has an excellent knowledge of the game and I believe that he holds some impressive coaching qualifications.

But there's one glaring omission from the chairman's c.v. - his playng career. Mr Noades was never a professional footballer and because of that he'll never get the absolute respect a manager needs to have frommhis players"

"I applaud Mr Noades for being brave enough to give it a try, but how much better things are looking for Brentford now that he's left the job of running the team to Steve Coppell, a man with an impeccable pedigree in the game"

Am I reading it wrong or has Mr Noades upset Mr Parry previously ? Obviously a "thick prat" isn't he Mr Noades !!!! I don't think Mr Parry will be offered tea and biccy's when WWFC visit GP eh
