Yellow card - HELP

I have been given a yellow card for missing the game against Manchester City on Monday 5th February.

I am certain that I put my seat on the Ticket Exchange and that I got a message saying it had been sold. - but I have not saved the message and it is not recorded on my BFC account. I sent a message to the club explaining this a week ago but have had no reply.

So, if anyone on the Grapevine picked it up - South Stand Dugout, seat 110 in row 6, entrance S104 - can they please message me or the club to get the card rescinded?
Thanks and fingers crossed, Larry.

You should have been asked to fill out a form with details.

You will only have an issue if you tot up more than four before the ST renewal which is likely to be in March.

Even then the club have said the point of the process isn't to stop real BFC fans from attending, so there shouldn't be an issue.

Getting yellow cards, when so much is invested in membership, season tickets and time served as a bee is poxy, I hope the club show some acknowledgement and decency towards you.

I wouldn't worry about it. The yellow card scheme won't be used to target long-term STHers. So we were told, and that's something we'll go to war on.

Did you get confirmation of the yellow card? I couldn't get to the Wolves game because of traffic and got the form which I filled in explaining it was due to traffic (a seven hour vs a normal 3 hour journey) but since then have heard nothing. No idea whether I have got a yellow or not.

I've got 2, both through absentmindedness and senility. The club phoned and were very nice about it, however, and I shan't be stupid enough to do it again, hopefully!

Yep - an e-mail telling me I had been carded. It was the first I knew of the incident.

*the first card - and I resent being blamed for something I don't think is my fault. I'll ignore the bad manners of the non-reply to my explanation.

I got a yellow for missing Aston Villa game. I got an email a few weeks after the match. I simply responded to email as I had a car break down en route. No form filled in, but got a very prompt and nice reply. ?

The club has taken the view (probably correctly) that there's no real value in arguing over individual yellow cards as it only becomes material if you have 4 by the time the season ticket renewal process commences.

At that time, if you have 4 and hit the "not a long-term fan" criteria then time and effort can be expended.

Yellow card veteran here. As Banana explains, don't let it bother you. If you look like getting 4 then have your history and reasoning ready but otherwise spend your energy worrying about something else. I was ready to go to war after my second card (both due to M40 being closed) but we are not going to be the ones targeted, even if it seems bloody personal at the time.

The club penalising somebody for not using something they’ve bought off of them….. ?

Just waiting now for Shell to penalise me for not using my car after filling it up with petrol I’ve bought off of them.

Total circus ?

But it is not aimed at penalising you. Its purpose is to make more seats available to the 18,000 fans who have expended serious money on a Membership, but who currently can only get 2,000-2,500 into each game. Ie only 12.5per cent ie 1/8th of Members are currently getting in each game. ESC is making 100s more seats available - I think the average is 300 per game. Is that not worth doing?

It’s getting pretty hard to get a ST now (not many not being renewed), so we have to be fair to those (?young) Members who are on a journey to become STH. We were those young fans once.

That's a particularly tone deaf post. It's to identify and get rid of touts that have STs or PSs.

A few days after the forest game I received an email threatening me with a yellow card.
I responded by filling in the form.
I told them I was there, and entered the ground at 3:05.
It was only after I’d submitted the form that I remembered kick off was 5:30 ??‍♂️??
I’ve heard nothing more from the club, but I’m not concerned ?‍♂️

I often receive the ‘How was your matchday experience’ questionnaire.
I occasionally fill it in. They should know by now, that I spend f*** all in the ground.

If they want me in early, they need to have better lager, a smoking area, and to cut out the pre-kick off choreographed bullshit.
I usually wait out the back with a can and a cigarette, at least until the utterly pointless Premier League ‘anthem’ has finished.

I got one for the Wolves game too as was ill and decided not to go at the last minute. I just ignored it.

Likewise - trains being knackered that day meant I missed my connection so I didn't attend. I'm not going to miss any more games barring something beyond my control so doesn't matter.

I'm sure there's got to be something not quite legal about all this stress and harassment people are getting. I would write to them, tell them that you have paid damn good money for your season ticket, that by doing so it happens to be your property and that it's none of their ******* business when you choose, or choose not to use it. ?‍♂️

I think it’s absolutely clear from this thread that a valid response is relatively stress-free, just an irritating few minutes of your time.

Rather than harass loyal supporters who have put thousands into the club over the years, I would identify these touts by observing seats with a different person in every week. Maybe a person in unusual colours what talks funny. :)

That of course is very true, and you can continue to feel that way. And then the club can feel that for next season they would like to save you from all this stress and harassment, by offering your season ticket to someone new.

In which case I would be telling the club to stick it up its arse (assuming clubs have arses?) and to hope they never find themselves in the 3rd Division again. Because they might just struggle to get gates of 5,000 next time having treated paying customers like this. I'm not a STH but if I were there's no way I'd put up with this sh*t. First email and I'd ask for a refund and go and watch Feltham.

Touts are smart enough to sell the seat or give it away if is not being used.

You hope the club will be sensible with genuine fans, but we don’t yet know what outcomes will be. So people are understandably worried.

We're surrounded by large groups of foreign tourists each week (there are often empty seats in the vicinity too). Would the club be better advised to sell these seats to individual members aspiring to season tickets, rather than travel companies (if indeed this is who they have sold them to, of course). South/West corner safe seating.

Indeed. And maybe take action when STers tell the club that one week there was a Scouser sitting next to them when we played Liverpool, and the following week there was a swivel-eyed freak writing a letter to the PGMOL when we played Forest. It ain’t rocket science for the club to swiftly root out ticket touting, rather than harassing supporters.

The club have ST records going back some time so it shouldn't be difficult to separate them from those who purchased from 2021 onwards and not send out yellow card threats. How many first time ST holders from 2021 onwards are there? These are the people who should be scrutinised not the likes of Larry.I expect to see several strangers around me on Saturday, usually recording on their phones, and this is in WS. I think the yellow card is to maximise profit from seats and catching touts is not the primary aim. I have a senior ST so, if I put it on the exchange, the club will trouser the difference from my reduced rate and the single ticket maximum. Should be my choice though and, so far, I have missed only three games at the Gtech but have given my ST to trusted supporters who can't get to every game.

But it IS your choice. Club have just asked you to ensure your seat is filled, they don’t require you to use the Exchange, unless you have no other way of using your seat.

This is 99.999% fact.

We'll soon see if they continue it into next season. Will be very interesting to see the number of long term STH needlessly stressed due to this vs the number of people who get their ST rescinded

It is to get more revenue per seat, yes, and doing so means that prices for the rest of us don't have to increase. That is what the club said. So it's in our interest to make that happen.

Either way, the whole "stop touts" line that gets pedalled out is BS.

And to add to this, it’s about allowing 300 more MyBees Members per game (who have laid out £45 just to have a chance to get access to seats) to actually access some seats. Only about 2,500 Matchday seats are available each match - once complimentary tickets have been deducted. And that Membership income is also raising revenue - 18,000 Memberships raises about £800k.

Fine ? not the exact words.. But it says it is in part to "tackle the issue of away fans gaining entry" which is essentially the same thing, and something that the scheme has absolutely 0 control over nor address in any way.
