Yes Smith has received 5 yellows, with two of them last night and the one match suspension.
However, when he returns I think he only has the three separate yellow cards on the 5/10/15 booking rule (Home to Wycombe, Chester & Chesterfield). The two he received yesterday do not count, as he is currently serving a suspension for those two.

I think Smith had 4 before yesterday, his first one yesterday made it 5, for which he gets a one game ban; the second got him red-carded and a one match ban for the red card, but he will come back on 5 - so hopefully pretty safe from a ban for reaching 10

need to get through to the end of Feb without any of the players on 3 cards picking up more yellows.

Hamer 3 yellows
Heywood 3 yellows
Osborne, 3 yellows
Dickson, 3 yellows

we can do without losing any of the above, with O'C out/Smith banned, squad would be stretched again, but with the current influx, of what seem like good young, players we should be OK.

The above are all on 3 so Smith will probably be back by the time any of the above pick up their 5th yellow ;)
For the first time this season we have players in multiple positions competing for places and I definitely think we can ride out the midfield storm for a week or two.

Do any of the other loanees have yellows hanging over them from their parent clubs, has Milsom got any yellows from Fulscum reserve games ?

I believe only cautions from first team games count towards the 5/10/15 caution suspention rule. So Millsom has only one caution.

The squad should be able to cope with one or perhaps two of these (highlighted) picking up a suspension at the same time, I suspect all three at the same time could be a different story. Lets hope they dont get anymore bookings this month.

That they have another couple of weeks to avoid a caution before it becomes a warning. I assume then that if they get a fifth yellow it's a warning and the slate is wiped clean.

Not sure about the slate being wiped clean TW1 as the ban gets increased the further down the scale you get!

Player get 5 booking up to end of Feb - 1 match ban
Player gets 5 in total for season - Warning
Player gets (10 bookings) - 2 match ban and severley warned
Player gets (15) - 3 match ban
Player gets 20 bookings - Meeting with big brass with tail between legs :D

That's right. Only dismissals for violent conduct in non first team games rule you out of the first team.

I have checked this out.

Smith had four bookings before last night (and you can choose to believe me and my sources on that or not, but it's true), the two he picked up count as one red card but do not get added to his season tally, I thought they did but they don't.

Smith will serve a one game ban for his red card and will start his next game, presumably at Chesterfield, on four yellow cards, if he avoids a booking at Saltergate and Accrington he will then have loads of leeway.

BTW those of you using soccerbase or any other organisation that uses a PA feed they have not recorded that Smith was booked against Notts County, he was :wave:

Thanks for clearing that up WEB :sorted: , I must admit I don't remember him being booked in the County game.

So I guess, in hindsight, it was a master stroke by Smith to get sent-off, so missing the home game against AS, so he can play in the tricky tie at Saltergate.....:D :)

I would have thought it should be 4 yellows - 1 red that was 2 yellows!
As the 2 he got yesterday don't count towards the (5/10/15 - yellow peril suspension rule:D )

May we take this opportunity to warn you that the FL referees are very sad people, they have nothing else to do apart from write nice reports detailing the cards issued during the match that they officiate in.
Please take this into consideration, and not give them the slightest chance to produce yet another report.

Smith is on 4 yellows and a red card........ he will receive a two match ban and a severe warning if he gets a further 6 cautions in 6 different matches. :)

A pretty good record, that's credit to AS and co. If we can stay injury free next season then we may have a chance of getting promoted.

The BBC has Bowditch being booked at Vale, but I am sure it was Elder...

Bennett and Phillips were booked, so I agree with the BBC there...

I think that Bowditch was booked at Vale for throwing the ball away.

Elder was also booked for, presumably, dissention as his penalised tackle was another referee error in that game.
