:sorted: came back from 2-0 down to win 2-3 at Bulleen last night :bound: watched it via facebook updates as due to fulhamification I don't go away anymore.

Horsham were bottom of Ryman div 1 south and relegated to Sussex County league where they will meet up with Horsham YMCA who finished 5th this season and the nearest team to myself Broadbridge Heath who finished 9th.

Sadly my village team folded and they once graced the top flight in the West Sussex League.

Crawley relegated and managerless.

In the late 80s United were in the conference and played England under Bobby Robson! They also were in the 1st round of the FA cup for about 6 years in a row and reached the 3rd round in 1993. Those days are long gone.

"The site has been the subject of several planning applications in the time since the Ducks eviction which has seen them playing out of the town at the likes of Chesham United and Thame United. Plans were submitted to demolish the old ground and turn it into houses and a care home. But 13 years later the stadium sits empty, unused and unloved in what is one of the biggest travesties in Aylesbury's sporting history. Ducks' former groundsman Pete Ash was regularly recognised for cultivating what was regarded one of the finest playing surfaces in the country. Now it sits decrepit, a wasted facility. These sad but fascinating pictures in our gallery, taken years after the eviction, show inside the Buckingham Road stadium."

I remember seeing similar pictures of Bradford Park Avenues ground in Charles Buchans Football Monthly in the early 70's. One of the stands had a slate roof iirc!

You could gaze upon the overgrown ground for years after whilst watching county cricket at the adjoining ground. One of my favourite places. Real old-fashioned, traditional sporting venue with a unique atmosphere. They used to hold the Priestly Cup final there as well (Bradford League cricket knock-out) which would attract big crowds. According to Wikipedia, parts of the old football turnstiles are still there with admission prices showing.

Aylesbury used to be one of the best places to go in the old Southern League, crowds regularly well into 4 figures. Back in late 80s their star striker was the wonderfully named Cliff Hercules.

Put my W7 postcode in and one of the results was New Bohemians of the Sheffield and Hallamshire County League... only 3 miles away apparently. They must have horrendous travel costs... A few teams I hadn't heard of; presumably playing on park pitches.
