Youth Team Problems?

Under 18s ship 9 against Charlton. A series of poor results this season sees them bottom of their league. Youth Team Manager departs last week.

Should we be worried or is it all part of the great plan?

Just to put your minds at rest. We have a very good set for youth development at BFC. As good as many Premiership clubs and better than some, including some of our near neighbours. With luck we will see the hard work of the last 2 years bearing fruit in the not too distant future. Today as they say, Sh##t happens. ;)

The under 18's haven't won a league game all season.

Well said mate.

Are there no keepers on the books and the youths are forced to play rush goalie?

Rosler has to go its as simple as that.

I think that our Youth policy is probably the best it has ever been.

The foundations have been well and truly laid for the future and there are a wealth of prosoects at every age group.

Given that the new regime and investment has only been in place for a couple of years its not surprisng that the best prospects are predominantly at the lower age group levels rather than perhaps at the Under 18s.

It's their first loss !!! Oh yes, your right. It is all part of a great plan

It's often the case that a good crop of youngsters is followed by a crop that isn't quite as good - especially if a couple of the better players turn out for the older team. However, I have been surprised at the results this season. I did feel that even with lower calibre players (and I'm not saying that they are) good coaching would have pulled a couple of wins or draws out of the bag. Particularly surprised given that fact that our even younger teams did so well in the Milk Cup.

Not surprised that he's gone as the League results seem to be getting worse not better (though 0-9 seems to have been after he left?).

The milk cup was for under 16s was it not? In which case this current batch of youth teamers is probably the last set left over from the old regime.

Im sure future generations will really start to show the fruit of MBs investment. Also its worth noting the dev squad are generally doing well-maybe some of the better youth teamers have already been called up into this, thus weakening the actual youth team?

May be way off the mark but have just read that the head of Watford's academy has just resigned, With the inside knowledge & contacts that Mr Warburton has at Watford is this a coincidence or a prelude to an anouncement. Maybe Mr Lancaster jumped before he was pushed.

From the wording on the official website it sounds like he was pushed. And going by their form rightly so.

Very interesting that watford had only applied for category 3 academy status. Brentford of course have category 2 so perhaps he has spotted a more attractive proposition.

Probably because Watford have gone from a Category 1 Academy to a Category 3 Academy. So a lot less funding. Maybe the new owners prefer bringing in their Italian and Spanish youngsters on loan with the odd academy player maybe making the step up.

He, Nick Cox, Could be a possible replacement for Louis Lancaster, though going from a Head of Academy to a youth team (u-18's) manager may be drop too far? It Sounds as though he knows his stuff though.

Nick Cox has left Watford to join a northern club according to the local press reports - also, I think he's more of a head of the operation, rather than a coach.
