I'm not sure they'll class it as a nothing game!
I was being a wee bit “whoosh” bantery for our Scottish Bee Brothers! ??
Well done that young man. Now most importantly do it against Bmuff.

Aaron Hickey

I think we have already improved him from what we inherited
Agree 100%, but he also has gained a ton of confidence in his final third play during this national spell. I hope he comes back and shows it off.

Wouldn't be opposed if Frank started Ajer or Mads R. at RB this weekend, though. Aaron played a lot of hard minutes. He left everything he had out there today. You could see it when he came off. Would rather only get 30 mins out of him and not pick up a knock.

Possibly, but others will be watching at how a young (and extremely competent) FB was able to nullify a player touted by their current club as a £45m player.
Including Phil Giles.....??......

Well done Aaron.
Nah. I wouldn't worry.

Up till now he's made all the right steps, career wise: He rejected Celtic in favour of Hearts, Bayern Munich in favour of Bologna. He rejected Arsenal for Brentford.

All for the same season, because he viewed playing matches more Important than money.

His next step will be at a Manchester United or a Liverpool or Real Madrid or a Barcelona. But that'll be at least 3 or 4 years in the future.

Stat of the day: Aaron Hickey, at 20 years, 3 months, is the youngest Premier League player to have started each game in the competition this season ?
And to think he has a year or two in Italy behind him. His potential is unbelievable.

Stat of the day #2:

Last season he played more minutes than any other teenager in the top 5 leagues. (EPL, Ligue A, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A)

Aaron Hickey

3 games + travelling in a week with Scotland. Played every PL game so far as well.

Makes sense to rest him, particularly given Ajer is back now. Last thing we want to do is burn him out or cause an injury.

Aaron Hickey

just tired.
sensible team selection ……. but busts his ‘youngest player to start every game this season’ title.

Aaron Hickey

1 yellow away from suspension now I believe

Aaron Hickey

His time in Italy obviously taught him the "dark arts". :ROFLMAO:

Aaron Hickey

Tired? No. It's nothing at all to do with tiredness. He didn't play every minute of the three Scotland matches.

He played 212 minutes out of a possible 270 minutes.

He's just turned 20. He's also worked under a notorious hard taskmaster at Bologna for 2 years. The lad is super fit. He probably ran to the team hotel after all three matches. :p

I wouldn't be surprised if he was still battered and bruised. Ireland decided to play Rugby Union against him and he was also targeted a few times in the second match against Ukraine.

It's more to do with giving his bruises time to heal rather than him being tired.

I actually like that he gets booked and has a bit of needle to him. Just means that he can dish it out and look after himself.

Aaron Hickey

I'm a big fan of Ajer, but he's no full-back. We saw that when Hickey came on yesterday. He's destined for the very top.

Aaron Hickey

Funny how people see things differently. I see Ajer as a better full back than Hickey !
Sorry don't see that. Hickey is more mobile & defensively sound in that full back position.

Ajer at his best is a ball playing centre half par excellence who can do a good job as a right back when required. He's still feeling his way back after his injury & suffering as TF tries to work out his best defensive.

Aaron Hickey

With Norgaard out, I'd try him as a
defensive midfielder. Think he'd do
very well.

Yeah. I think I said that on my very first post in this thread.

He has the defence instincts, the skillset, the technique and the composure to excell as an anchorman.

That's one of the many stand out in Hickey's armoury, the flexibility. He could literally play anywhere in defence and midfield and still be the best player on the park.

I think that'll be his ultimate position. The Scottish Joshua Kimmick, if you will; starting off as a full back and then being moved inside to being an anchorman.

I forget if it was KLP or Hickey, but one of them mentioned in their interview after joining the club that they were made to play holding midfielder when they were coming up through academies and was horrid at it.

Don’t remember seeing that. Do remember reading that Hickeys manager at Hearts thought he would end up as a CDM though and had all the attributes needed for the role.

It was KLP! Just watched it back. Played CDM for 1 week when he was on trial aged 14.

Thanks for doing the homework for me! Maybe Hickey is an answer.

Will say one of his best skills is preventing and blocking crosses, so Id be safe to see him off the wing.

love That idea

Fabulous player, although he is struggling with the attacking side of his game with us.
I genuinely think it's because we haven't got the midfield platform to let him show that side of his game. Both he and Rico struggled to get forward because we were overrun in the middle so our 'wingbacks' literally become a 5-3-2 rather than a 3-5-2 offensively creating overloads and attacking possibilities. Give us that solid midfield base and we'll see much more from the lad as an attacking full back.

Not sure where Hickey was today, not in the team, or bench or reportedly injured ?
