The Gary Smith thread

Is there any news of Gary Smith being offer a contract. He has played in all four friendlies and done a good job in all 4 and deserves a contract. We could do a lot worse and most likely will.

Who knows - we have not had any news from TB or AS on the OS regarding any of the friendlies so far or their views on any triallists. There have been one or two tit-bits in newspapers which suggest that they might like him but no-one seems to know whether there is any money left for players anyway.

He's still here though and I for one hope we sign him.

On what we have seen so far........hope so. But TB may wait until we have finished the last three frindlies, which should be more of a test. Think we will see the start of, what they feel is the first team squad. With any luck he'll be in it. :sorted:

A MK bloke who I have mentioned before just parked up and ran over to me in the street to say that his mate Gary Smith had passed his medical today and is signing soon.:eek: A very strange happening. He took my number and said he is coming to GP next to see his mate. He said he has been promised a Bees signed shirt and seemed convincing, I hardly know this character, he saw me in a Bees shirt and we got talking a few years ago. He went on to say that he should never have been released and blames that c*nt Allen!
We shall see.

I'm not entirely sure that Smith is the answer to our prayers but this bloke loves him and he is going to look a right cock next time I see him if he has unloaded falsehoods my way, is he not?lol

Well, he looked alright, but then there wasnt that much competition... Sums up where we've got to if we're getting all excited about signing Smith IMHO..... :(

Maybe we have signed him and will find out via another website as our o/s doesn't get may updates regarding team matters at the mo. Yes I am a bit p!$$ed off lol.

Ya friend from MK wasnt far wrong, it was saturday he passed his medical or he had it saturday, hasnt signed as yet as far as i know, i was with him saturday night but havent spoken to him today, surely something must be finalised this week, just case of putting pen to paper it seems

Pity he didn't offer a few of the others a bit more of a test before offering contracts. I would happily swap a few of them (juniors included) for smith on what I have seen so far!

I really hope we get him.

I agree......I think a few posters are clutching at straws here.....

Smith has played quite well in a few friendlies, against very low opposition.
He hasnt stood head and shoulders above the rest of the averagely performing.

I'm not bothered either way...:shrug:

Every day I look at the os, and still no news...I think he would be a great signing.

According to local paper TB has made an offer, but I bet he''ll be off to another club next week.

We normally sign players on a Wednesday so hopefully this will be confirmed tomorrow. If he stays injury free, he is one of the best midfielders in the league. Problem is, he's doesn't tend to stay injury free for long!

Don't think hearing from the guy himself that he is signing can be consituted as a rumour. In the English dictionary "a rumour is an unverified statement".
I think him saying he is signing negates this..........than again:rolleyes: I am more interested in the positive for the club and next season, that this is a very good signing....................unless he doesn't of course, which may be a rumour :eek:

Sounds good, altho' I haven't had the chance to see any of the friendlies to date, so I hope that what most people are saying about him (i.e. that he's at least quite good) turns out to be true throughout the season - not that WOULD be nice!

Im pleased that gary smith has signed for us he has looked good in pre season,the midfield is looking strong then it did last season and with craig pead to come back butcher and scott will have a nice selection problem on who they want to play there

This is definitely a good signing and Im now confident we've got the central midfielders to compete in this division. The way I see it Smith and Moore are seen as the attacking options and Mousinho and Pead as the defensive. This means, depending on who we are playing and what the score is, we can adjust the midfield to suit the game.

Now how about another centre half please Butch...

Smiffy,I love your dry humour. What I was refering re Gary Smith was that he had a bull and cow while at M K Dongs with MA.. This resulted in MA having a paddy and not picking Gary again,

good news. Of all the new players I have seen so far he has consistently been the best one. I would have offered him a 2 year contract and 1 year to most of the others if it was up to me.

I think we will do well this season, we are building a solid team with a few players starting to look like they could shine in this division.

CB's are slow..but aren't they all, we could do with a goal poacher, but couldn't we all?

I'm pretty sure they were ensuring MK Dons couldn't take his severance pay away from him, the date falling on a Wednesday being a co-incidence.
