Is Gary ever going to get a look in?Or is he injured?

Another midget unfortunately. I'm just waiting for Snow White to turn up and we can put a decent panto on in The Hive for xmas as a fundraiser.

The Gary Smith thread

When are we going to stick him out on loan?

Surely he'd be better off in the side?? It's not as if we're blessed with any great quality in midfield other than Moore.. Has he had a falling out with Butcher or something?

:love2: Gary Smith...I like little weebles :love2:

The Gary Smith thread

probably needs a run of games but you cant really change an unbeaten team (league form) or your a brave man if you do?

Could Smith and Mousinho play in the same side? Get the feeling their bit similar?

.................what a difference a month makes..............

The Gary Smith thread

So glad he's been given a chance, looked good in the pre season games, Butcher couldn't have rated him.

someone must have offered him a contract !

The Gary Smith thread

Another great performance today. I think he's only got 6 months left on his contract, perhaps we should be offering him a new one??

The Gary Smith thread

Why did Butcher not play him at beginning of season?

No. A few swallows does not a Summer make !

Let him prove that he can perform consistently and also stay fit and then we can see about a new contract

The Gary Smith thread

He was outstanding, hardly put a foot wrong and was in the mix of most good things we did.

Sign him up for another year or someone may grab him in January...

The Gary Smith thread

....................bossed the midfield today...................top man..............

The Gary Smith thread

Full of energy, great first touch, good control, can pass, can battle, likes to play football, goes up for headers and creative. Him and O'Connor could well be one of the best midfields in the division :sorted:

The Gary Smith thread

This will be interesting. Play 4-4-2 like today and he pulls the strings in the middle, play Thorpe up front, the games passes him by and he plays catch up as it's hoofed on by.
Looks like he's a capable midfielder in League 2, so easy one for Scotty to make hapen and have him and KOC as his two central midfielders for the foreseeable future

The Gary Smith thread

As well as Smith has done it is not purely about him.

Whether you want to look at the pair of him and O'Connor or the triumverate when you add Connell into the mix the whole centre of our team has improved.

I personally look at it as a three-man combination, Smith has been an important part no doubt, his workrate has mouled well with O'Connor's positional ability and Connell's flair, but it is not a one-man job.

The Gary Smith thread

I do think though that we need to offer him another year on his contract as come the end of the season he can walk away and with him, O Connor, Heywood and Connell we have the basis of a very good team :sorted:

Man of the Match for me today... calm under pressure, worked well with KoC

The Gary Smith thread

It wasn't there when I posted!

Plus, won't that make another Gary Smith thread, when there is already one?

It helps people who don't come to the site often see what is happening, otherwise the news about a new contract would get lost in a massive thread about him :)

Or some people are just too slow to create a new thread..... :)

i love this, normally you do a duplicate thread and it's like you've walked into gp and shot half the playing squad, other times it's claimed as the sensible thing to do. either way anyone but the mods is treated like morons. i think the power's going to heads.

Who did I treat like a moron?

The Gary Smith thread

perhaps moron is a bit harsh, just general talking down to. i'm not complaining, i just think it's funny.

I spoke to him before the game today. He lived in Northampton when he played for MK and complained about house prices down there.:D Nice chap who liked it when I told him that a Northampton lad sent him off;) and felt aggrieved about his dismissal. I like the way he plays football and I like the way he chatted to me as he seemed a really genuine fella and not the one that was described on here before.

The Gary Smith thread

Too much use of the word "Northampton" generally in your posts. :yuck:

................Smith was missed yesterday as was O'Conner...............

Is apparently on loan from MK Dons and looks like someone else entirely

Didn't do too badly last night with the more defensive Stone to play off of, miles better than alongside Milsom or Brown.

..............had a good game last night.......a decent pairing of Smith and Stone.........................

The Gary Smith thread

That looks like John Collins
I've bunged them an email telling them that the squad is months out of date and if they're not going to bother keeping up properly with the better leagues then to please stick to the boring Premiership. Proper effort or none at all, not that half-arsed crap.
I'm sure that'll solve it :D

Surprised no one has picked up on the court case that is going on between Man Utd & Middlesboro/Gary Smith. Apparently Smith destroyed a budding youth players career (Collett) when playing for their youth teams. Smith & Middlesboro and their Insurers pleaded guilty. Compensation still to be decided.

Any career comes with a certain risk and that's what clubs pay player insurance for.

The problem though for Insurers is how to agree a level of compensation based on a player who had not made it as a footballer yet.
Most 18 year olds don't make a sustained carreer in the pro football game and therefore reaching million pound plus compensation agreements are very few and far between.

The Gary Smith thread

Funny, I thought insurance policies were for a certain amount, so surely that's the amount to claim and no need for all this court rubbish unless they're trying to allege that the player's career was ended intentionally.
