Worst Bees Game

Apart from the recent Kingstonian fiasco. My worst moment was a 2 1 defeat to Guildford in the FA Cup. The First game at Griffin Park was abandoned due to snow the next also at Griffin Park we drew I think 2 all. In the replay at Guildford we lost 2 1 due to a blatantly offside goal by someone called I believe Les Brown. This player gave Peter Gelson the run around in all three games.

Worst Bees Game

The 5-2 home defeat to Bristol Rovers in 1963 was pretty dire, as was the 6-2 home defeat to Luton the same season. However, a 4-1 home drubbing in the League Cup to Southend sometime in the '70s was the absolute nadir. No skill, no effort, no enthusiasm, no nothing.

Worst Bees Game

Home to Wigan, losing 0-2 in the season we got relegated under W£bb / May / Adams. A team comprising talentless, disinterested, gutless excuse for footballers. There was absolutely no passion or fight, never mind skill, and considering the state we were in, you'd expect a bit of that when it's your livelihood you're playing for.

Pathetic.

Worst Bees Game

Agree with Lord Mad about the Wigan game. Also the capitulation at Bristol City in 92/93. It was as if they turned up expecting to get beaten.

Worst Bees Game

i also have a vague memory of wigan, that totally sucked

for some reason a 0-0 vs northampton in the same season sticks in my mind as the worst, but i'm willing to stand corrected

Worst Bees Game

This may not be popular but Ijah's performance against Cardiff away a few season's ago took some beating, he had a mare. A sat amongst Cardiff fans that day and they were wetting themselves over his performance.

Fortunately just an off day.

Worst Bees Game

The Bristol City game that relegated us is an obvious choice - if only for the lack of effort - they really let the fans down that day. Wembley Vs Crewe was another high profile game where the performance was poor to say the least. The other specific game I remember is a night game against Colchester in 1976 / 1977 - we lost 1-4 at home - but it must have done them some good because we won 11 out the remaining 14 home games that season.

Worst Bees Game

well done JB, i'd almost totally forgoten about crewe, i literally was on the verge of tears on the way home, an absolute disgrace of a day...

Worst Bees Game

Looking back with the benefit of hindsight that game at Wembley against Crewe was when the rot set in. We should have been promoted automatically but we sold Forster and did't replace him.

Stand uncorrected, Dan. I think that game was dire - or was it becuase I decided to sit in the Braemar for a change?

Worst Bees Game

Worst game ,must at Wembley gainst Crewe. However as I recall the build up was far from good. Danny Murphy ran the show for Crewe, little wonder he went to Liverpool.

Worst Bees Game

Bristol City away 92/93

38 years to get there and straight back down in 1 with the most spineless performance ever to finish it off. On that day there were very few players who showed any pride in wearing their Brentford shirt.

Worst Bees Game

Not necessarily the worst game, but certainly one of the biggest let downs was the penalty shoot out defeat by Huddersfield in '94 I think, when in any other season our second place would have led to automatic promotion

Worst Bees Game

I can't remember the year but I can remember FA Cup relay against Burnley at Griffin Park. Burnley scored first when Chic Brodie was chipped over his head. I swear to to this day thatJimmy Bloomfield equalised as I remember Adam Blacklaw in the Burnley goal scooping the ball out from well over the line, The referee missed it. WE lost two nil as they scored a virtual identical goal in the second half

Worst Bees Game

Bristol City 92/93 Relegation Day

Our car broke down on the way , by the time we got there at H/T we were already 2-0 down ( I think ), so we were lucky enough to miss the first half performance , second half was bad enough !

Worst Bees Game

This is soooo difficult as there have been loads. Crewe playoff final was so depressing I cried, 6-2 this year to a team worse than us, all the 0-0 in the relegation season a couple of years back, 4-1 Cardiff away, 1-1 vs Wycombe live on sky, they couldn't find anything good to say about it, it was embarrassing. All games after Feb last year, I've ran out of memories but I think this skims the surface.

Worst Bees Game

One of the most boring was against Wrexham in the Sherpa Van Trophy or whatever it was then. 1990-1? 0-0 after 120 minutes - it was freezing cold and on a Thursday. The penalties were even boring - they didn't score from the first three. It was so boring I bought a burger - the only time I've ever done such a reckless thing at Griffin Park.

12th January, 1965. 30,448 attendance, including me. What a depressing night. Easily the best atmosphere I've ever witnessed at GP and everything seemed to be against us. Actually I think it was a John Fielding header that went over the line but the linesman wasn't in position to see it.

Worst Bees Game

Santa Barbara Bee you seem to be from the same era as me and have greater Memory than me(and I am very proud of mine).

In I think 1962/3 do you remember us playing
Sheffield Utd /Wed in the then League Cup when we lost 4--0 but were totally in control of the Game. I remember Len Allchurch playing foe them.

Also regarding an earlier post by me do you remember Ron Dart ? This is becoming a a bit of a political hot potato locally as he has been living of this story for years and I am almost certain that he is being economical withe truth. A termological inexactitude as Winston Churchill would have said.

Worst Bees Game

Losing 0-5 at Belle Vue to Doncaster Rovers(mid-70's).I jumped on the dug-out to abuse Bill Dodgin.(Sorry Sir Bill)

A sub stuck his head out and said he was scouting in Devon!!!!

1-6 at Colchester(on tv as well).
A 0-3 pre-season defeat at Epsom & Ewell
eek.gif
at their old West Street ground.Their players were pissing themselves in the bar after the game at how bad we were

0-3 at home to Rotheram this season wasn't much better

Worst Bees Game

FA Cup 1983(?)
Gillingham 5 Bees 3
Bees 3-1 up with 10 minutes to play!
Longest journey home ever!

Worst Bees Game

If i went to the Kingstonian game as originally planned Im sure it would have been that one.

But I have only left before the end of a game voluntarily twice in my life (i.e not by dad to catch a bus!!)

1992-93 H v Bristol Rovers L0-3, remember a Rovers player dribbling from the halfway line to score.
2000-01 H v Bristol Rovers L2-6 Missed the last 3 goals!! Told Wally as i walked passed him that it was absolute sh*t (remember him kicking over all sorts of things!!)

my best trip to brentford this season mate

Worst Bees Game

This one probably doesn't count because it was so bad that I don't even remember who we were playing.

It must have been late 60's and we were in Div 4. The opposition was Rochdale or Hartlepool - one of those teams that has never achieved anything of great note.

At half-time it was 0-0 and the game was dire.

About 10-15 minutes into the second half a great banging and shouting could be heard from the Ealing Road end. On taking a look at what was going on (the game wasn't worth watching) I found that 15-20 Bees supporters were hammering on the gates, demanding to be let out !!

I kid you not. It sounds like something you would tell as a joke (people pay to get in and it's so bad they kick up a fuss to get out) but it's true. It sticks in my mind because I had never witnessed it before (even though there had been some awful games).

Anybody else remember this? Who were we playing?

Worst Bees Game

Their are a few that stick in my memory, like the Crewe playoff final and the 6-2 loss to Rovers this season. But the worst game for me was the home game with Wrexham last season which ended in a 2-0 defeat - I have never been so embarrassed to be a Bees supporter

Worst Bees Game

Away at Mansfield in 99 sticks in my mind. I talked one of my mates into coming with me, told him we would wallop them. We were absoloutely dire and the ground was s**t. Think we were so desperate Herman ended up playing centre forward.

Also Rochdale 99 was an equally poor game, great sing song in the pub before the game and a great night out in Leeds afterwards though.

Must be the same game I mentioned as my First Bees game. I'd love to see the program again if you happen to have it stashed away somewhere. I was in the home end that day as Colchester were my local club as a youth.

Worst Bees Game

Bristol City away, last game in Division 1. This had to be the worst ever day of my BFC life.

Worst Bees Game

The worst game was in the sixties. When as a young lad I saw us murder QPR 6-1 in the opening game and then relegated to the 4th the same year. The game was against Bristol Rovers at home where we lost 0-5. It really had no meaning as we were heading for the drop but it was the final nail in the coffin of a season that started out with so much promise. Come to think of it arn't the Bristols (a fine pair) our No. 1 bogey teams?

Worst Bees Game

so many games so little time!!
bees v chesterfield sticks out from last year. it pissed down with rain the whole time, me & my boy got drenched in the ealing, it was the most dull o-o u could possibly imagine, with a crap crowd and it was live on the box. to rub salt in the wounds, some local toerag broke into my car behind the albany flats.Aah, what memories.

don't forget, they hit the post in the last minute... nearly capped off a perfectly sh*te night! i was ill-as-f##k but still went instead of staying in the comfort of my own home, and nearly fell asleep on the new road, had to stand up to stay awake!

Worst Bees Game

The first game i saw the bees was on tv when we got done 6-1 at the old den in 1992/93.

then i made my first trip the GP to see the Bees get stuffed 3-0 by Bristol rovers and I still come back !!!!

there was lots of other games !

Crewe (playoff final)
too many games when we want down!!!

covering your nuts in honey and standing next to a beehive naked,

OR

i remember a 0-1 home boxing day defeat to brighton on a frozen pitch about 1993/4 which was appalling, and i'd got up about 6am to get to GP from cardiff for the midday kick off.

:) :) :sorted: :sorted: :bound:

Worst Bees Game

Colchester two years ago. Wind howling, dire football, abandoned at HT. Kept wondering "what the hell am I doing here? What the hell am I doing here?"

Worst Bees Game

Kingstonian and Cambridge U (1990/01 0-3) are the only two games where I've left early because of the appalling football on show.

Not sure if it's the same game as mentioned, but I remember bringing about 6 mates to a Brighton game that was appalling. The only piece of skill all day was when Garry Nelson beat 3 men from the half way line to score from 20 yards. I was in the toliet.

My mates never seemed to keen on coming after that.

My 25th birthday, 28th August 2000.

Also, a 1-0 home defeat by a very negative Northampton in 1988.

Plus Luton away at some point in the mid-nineties. ;)

Worst Bees Game

newport co 5 2 at home just after xmas , but we got our revenge a few months later 6 0 what a night ?

Worst Bees Game

Reading away when we got the 4-0 drubbing wasn't much fun,but it doesn't compare to Swansea away on the Tuesday night in I think the same year (2000-2001).

6-0 and Paul Smith,on his debut, was man of the match by mile.
