The club are asking for comments on the matchday programme. Why don't we have a thread there as well. Constructive comments please. If you think something should be ditched or kept, then why?

Print it in larger type for those of us who are optically challenged. Lean more towards being a fans' magazine, without trespassing on the territory already occupied by the fanzines, rather than glossing over events at the club "Pravda" style.

The only thing of interest in last season's programme was Martin's article - just about everything else was either boring or available elsewhere, ie the official site.

There used to be a regular column by the team captain, but perhaps Ricky Newman couldn't string the words together?

It's a good channel for Bees United to use for communicating with fans, but (a) it shouldn't be used for exclusives, so it doesn't add value and (b) I despair of BU ever communicating anything that matters more than the collection of a few toner cartridges.

I don't buy away programmes, but a few people have remarked that some are a lot better than ours - maybe they should use this opportunity to say why?

Please no more articles by the likes of David Ohl telling us how Bristol City deserve promotion!

We might not want articles from Larry, pages and pages from the Programme Collectors club, or ramblings from David Ohl, but I do have a certain amount of sympathy for PG..

Unless people come forward on a regular basis to write what the hell do they put in week after week..

Its hard enough doing a fanzine four times a year! At least we can slag off who we want!

The programme collectors club bit could be improved by writing about things that were happening at the club/in the world of football/world at large at the time rather than just a straight match report from 1974 or whenever, IMHO.

Like the idea of 'Meet the fan'.

Much more information about the u-18 youth team - players, match reports etc. These players are our future.
A little less about the mechanics of training the younger age groups, sometimes interesting but often just plain repetitive.

Stuff that lets you see behind the scenes at the club - even cliched articles such a player's favourite music, food, etc. are good to scan before the kick-off.
I like the idea of Larry's articles, even if I don't like his style - people who work for the club as real people.
To be honest, I'm not really interested in the report from the last match because I was probably at the game and have read the report on the OS.
Let's make it lighter because I get my fix of depression on here!
BTW - out of interest, why don't you buy away programmes Ed.?

I thought the Southend programme was very good. Unfortunately it's not to hand anymore. But I'm sure that PG would look at all programmes for ideas anyway.

Given the serious long-term injuries we have suffered, it is good to keep some of these players in the news.

This did used to happen a few years back.
However, there was an instance where a Bees player was on his returning back from a specific injury; this information was included in the programme and five minutes into the game an opponent went specifically for the old injury.
I can't remember the precise details, and it was about eight or nine years ago, but suffice to say I would put money on such an item not being included.

Far less pages devoted to match reports and pics. If you`ve been to the game why would you want to read about it a week later; i just bypass the reports! Space fillers me thinks.

The return of "what was happening?" page; ie 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago etc

A page devoted to national press clips of Bees-related news - "what the papers say"

A guest column page by supporters/journos on the Bees and/ or football in general. People like Tim Street, Chris Wickham, Jim Levack, BBC London etc would oblige, i`m sure (And Tony Flood if Nana asked him nicely ). A few thought provoking articles...

A "where are they now?" page featuring ex-players of yesteryear

A page for the fanzines, websites and BIAS views (dropped a couple of years back but could be returned?)

Mandatory page "from the boardroom"

Less on ancient history (again i just bypass these pages). Might be interesting for the Uncle Alberts amongst us but not for me

Generally I like our proggy and PG does a sterling job but a few tweaks here and there could improve it and make it a more lively read

I think the idea of a guest journalist writing a regular piece would be good; better if it could rotated between four or five different scribes.

I used to quite like the item that was "both sides of the fence" – items on players who had played for the Bees and our opponents.

I first got involved with the programme about ten years ago, when PG invited a number of us who had replied to a similar appeal.

I think the main problem lies at the heart of most things to do with Brentford FC: namely getting enough people to make a regular commitment – week in, week out.

Speaking with a number of people, a major gripe appears to be the regular "programme collector's club" feature

I feel the programme could be better designed. The Swindon programme was excellent but I don't think the content was that much better than the Brentford one and both clubs use the same company for design, print and distribution.
