900 UP

Well done to my Dad, Frank Coumbe, who attended his 900th Consecutive Brentford home league game against Brighton on Sunday. He hasn’t missed a League game at Griffin Park since 1977.

He has attended about twice that number in total including aways, FA Cup, League Cup, Trophy, Play-Offs, Anglo-Italian Cup etc, but we know, from a previous thread on the Grapevine, that there a few members of the GPG who have attended more in total.

Many older supporters will remember my Dad writing articles for the Brentford programme in the late 70’s, 80’s, 90’s plus, occasionally, in the 00’s. he also contributed to various Brentford books and was co-author of “Timeless Bees” in 2006 with the late great Graham Haynes.

I haven’t missed a home league match at Griffin Park for over 4 years. Only another 35 or so years to catch up with my Dad!!

Me and my Dad had enough points for Chelsea, but we didn't go. We gave our tickets to a friend that we stand with so they went to Chelsea instead.

That's incredible! I've missed a few each season just being ill.

Many thanks to programme editor Mark Chapman for putting a piece in the programme last Saturday about my Dad's achievement.

I honestly can't believe someone can attend 900 consecutive games it's truly amazing well done sir !.
I went maybe 10 years without missing one and a couple of 5/6 year spells the same which begs the question of the best excuses or the most ridiculously ill anyone has been in order not to miss a game.
I've missed weddings , holidays all sorts of things but to do 900 is beyond the call of duty.
I think my personal best was about 5 years ago when a serious heart condition almost did for me , I was in cardiac care sweating on missing a home game , I actually missed only one which was live on TV when Berahino scored a hatrick so I'm the circumstances I didn't count that , the next home game was Sheff Utd and I was under all sorts of orders not to do anything energetic , even walking far was a no no , didn't stop me , took about half an hour to walk slowly and steadily struggled over the railway bridge but I made it !! , didn't quite share with the wife exactly what the docs told me . Think we lost but the thoughts of seeing BFC kept me going !!
Here's to the next 900 !!!

My Dad attended his 950th consecutive home league game last Saturday vs W.B.A.

After so many good home wins recently, it was a shame that the occasion was marked by a defeat.

I hope BFC do something really nice for him for his 1000th.

Crikey - that's nuts. Fair play to him.

Although it begs the question, what was the fair-weather up to when he missed a game in 1976?

900 UP

Also, any idea how many TAP points he has?
