My Dad attended his 950th consecutive home league game last Saturday vs W.B.A.

After so many good home wins recently, it was a shame that the occasion was marked by a defeat.

That was home and away matches combined, which none the less is still incredible. Well done Frank, it's an amazing achievement, but I'm not sure spending 40 plus years in the same spot every fortnight is something to chirp about!

Last Saturday (vs QPR), my Dad’s amazing run of consecutive Brentford home league games came to an end. He knew his time was up as we were due to be in Nottingham for his aunts 100th birthday celebrations, but we didn’t go as Dad went down with a viral infection, a condition that has made him really ill. Dad’s run ended at 966 consecutive Brentford home league matches (42 years).

As we couldn’t go to Nottingham on Saturday, I was now able to go to Griffin Park and I took my mum, Susan, with me. It was her first league match at Griffin Park for nearly 25 years (the last time she went, she was expecting me!!) The first people she saw on arrival were Bob and Rose Winstanley who she used to stand with many years ago.

Dad isn’t looking forward to leaving Griffin Park as it holds so many memories. I’m sure while everybody is celebrating at the last game, he’ll have a few quiet moments remembering all the players and matches (he remembers them all!!) as well as ll the people he’s stood with over the years (especially his own dad).

Anyway, well done Frank Coumbe (my dad) for 966 consecutive Brentford home league games. You are Brentford’s Greatest Griffin Park Supporter!!
