Agent fees

I'm saying no such thing but I'll repeat for the thick ***** amongst you

I WOULDNT PAY ANY AGENTS FEES :)

I heard you first time BC - I am guessing but I would have thought you have not and will not pay any football agents fees!!!! :D

Agent fees

If thats the best example the agent fans can muster, I'd suggest you give it up now lol

I WOULDNT PAY ANY AGENTS FEES :)

And I'm saying that I would pay an Agents fee if it meant the club saved money in the longer term!!!

Agent fees

...but show me where it ever has FFS!!!

Talbot was under contract and YET we appeared to have paid HIS agents fees to help him....FFS WHY!!!! He should have paid them himself!!!

:imwith: :imwith: :imwith: :imwith: :imwith: :imwith: :imwith: :imwith:

It's a complete racket and the authorities seem unable or are unwilling to do anything about it so it's down to the clubs to stop all agents expenses.

Agent fees

Such a waste ......

All this expertise and years of insight and opinions of how a club shouldn't be run, knowledge of who isn't right for the club as a manager or player, insider understanding how of agents work, plus an inner confidence that results in always being right.

I'm amazed a big club hasn't approached BC to take on a Peter Kenyon type role.

You are all for conspiracy theories, so maybe we were not told the whole truth  and the previous management wanted to bring players in such as Skulasson & Newman to replace Talbot & Hargreaves.
So Talbot who was under contract needed to be shipped out otherwise we wouldn't have been able to sign one or both the others.
The fact that both new signing turned out to be bad value for money, does not detract from the fact that both Talbot & Hargreaves were surplus to requirements in the opinion of previous team management.

Where have I stated it was HIS agent that gained the fees?

Agent fees

:imwith: No way would Talbot have lasted another season but to get rid of him it would have been far easier to say he wants to move back north than tell everyone he's crocked surely.

Talbot wasn't MA's signing and if the wage bill wouldn't allow for player of his choice but by employing an agent to offload the player regardless of fee as long as reduction in wage bill greater what's the problem?

We've seen unwanted players stifle the clubs plans with Fitz Jnr, Willock , and Brooker that were surplus but BFC still can't shift. Fitz has been paid off now by the club to get him off the wage bill isn't that the same as paying an agent to get rid of Talbot ? If yes I'd have been happy to pay agents fees if they could guarantee losing the other two as well.

...the discussion is about the benefit of paying agents or not to move players off the wage bill...you brought this transfer/move into the thread...sorry if I assumed wrongly...

So basically you are saying that if BFC wants to get rid of a player, who is in contract, they should force the player himself to pay the agent fees to get rid of him irrespective of whether the player wants to stay or not!

So what if the unwanted player then wants to stay and honour his contract but the clubs management does not want the player - what should happen then?

An agent was used, I have no idea whether that was his or someone else that the club uses. I have also stated that it is only from memory of a question raised at a fans forum. Although I'm sure it was discussed previously on another thread.

Well let me be knocked down by a bus for not wanting the Club to waste money on agents lol

Not one single poster can highlight where we may have benefited...strange that given the amount of inside knowledge that exists about most things relating to BFC...or is it...The nearest we get is two or three possible situations concerning Talbot and Allen...and most on here will probably have made their own minds up about Allen and transfer/agents....How much did MK spend again...

Fine him for ignoring club requests :sorted:

However in a professionally run club under the stewardship of BC. We wouldn't be allowed to. ;)

...the three stodges...who was part of the team that brought all three in...John Griffin...which brings us nicely back to unwanted costs associated with player moves...

I've read comment on here as to how we should aspire to Colchester as a club in the way its run...can anyone point out how much they invested in agents for the period in question...

 The same amount as BFC since the inception of the new BFC policy of Non-payment of players agents :sorted:

I think "invested" maybe the wrong word to use though as I thought you didn't think they were an investment :fishing:

Or perhaps Walsall...arent they meant to make a profit each year...actually scrap that...why we would want to follow an example like that...I know...Port Vale...another supporters run club...sh*te...another club that didnt feel the need to pay third parties...

BC,

For what it's worth I also think the football world and BFC would be a better place without agents and if they are involved then I believe that the player should pay them out of his own money.

However until they are illegal I would consider using where it can work to our benefit which I'm led to understand was the case with Talbot. You hack people off with your superior I know more than you therefore I'm always right attitude whether the underlying issue or opinion is one I may agree with you on.

This board is all about opinions but not everyone decends to berating people and calling them thick if they don't agree 100% with others take on matters.

Good point and well made. Try not to make it a habit :D

So have you now changed your mind then BC?

To be fair to BC, I don't expect him to and am not trying to convince him to compromise as Talbot case appears fairly unique.

The sooner agents are driven out of sport the better but I guess while they're still here we consider using if beneficial and cost saving for the club.

I agree with you - the only time the club should pay for them would be when it is to the clubs advantage and thus saves the club money! :)

Agent fees

To be involved in the amount of transfers we were last January, given the situation we were in and the problem of attracting players to pay nothing to agents is very impressive IMHO, and to be appluaded.

What would you say if we'd paid agents and got better players and stayed up?

But who's to say that we would have got better players if we'd paid agents? We'd have had less money to spend on the players themselves. The problem with your conjecture is that it presupposes that if we'd actually done the opposite of what we really did in every respect that we would have achieved a different outcome - it's impossible to know.

Just putting the question out to see what people think.. Whatever we did couldnt have possibly have had a much worse outcome..

Who did we pay £5,000 to and for?

If we had to pay an Agent £5K to find Brooker a club and get his annual salary off this seasons budget, would that be money well spent? :fishing:

It happens all the time and a great number of fees you see paid to Agents is for getting people off the pay roll rather than on it. If a player is under contract, Brentford could transfer list him to alert clubs of his availibility or speak to his agent and say rather than have to negotiate a deal to pay off the player why don't you try and find him a decent deal elsewhere in which he is not unemployed and losing fitness etc and we will pay you X for doing it.

That wasn't the question I asked though.

he is under contract so in order for Brentford to do the job themselves they would have to transfer list him. As we have seen in the past that does'nt necesaarily speed up the process in him leaving. An agent would have better resourses and probable knowledge of what club is looking for what type of player and also contact with a great many more agents. It is a speed of exit that is important in most of these cases.
