Alex Rhodes
was is it with you and right wingers ?
Brooker, Rhodes and Williams (M) all in your personal hate list in recent years...:sad::sad:
Rhodes was a left winger.

I'm not sure he was ever a regular fixture in the starting line up to be considered our best player.
He certainly had some good games but my memory says that he didn't start that many and tore very few apart that often.![]()
I would go as far to say that without the injury he would be on loan at Woking at the moment.
Thank you. A sane comment. Alex is a lovely fella but had three good weeks in four years at Brentford and now everyone thinks he was Ronaldo.
Stephen Hunt was the same then
He'd just started playing reguarily, and was tearing teams apart, through his sheer pace.
His goal and assist at Hillsboro shortly before this in the space of two minutes was prehaps the best example.
He really was playing well at the time.

Have a look at his playing record and you will see he wasn't playing regularly. He made 17 starts in 4 plus years and the season following his Bournemouth goal he made some of those starts up until is injury, but certainly was more regularly used as a sub. Tabb was often on the left as Hargreaves & Talbot filled the middle with Rankin often on the right.
Rhodes played some games down the left and some down the middle had lightening pace, but final delivery was in the main crap. One game against Sheff Wed, doesn't make him as terorising defenders every week.![]()

He'd scored 3 goals in 10 games, despite being a sub for a while.
He was only just breaking into the side at the time, you are right, but he was playing brillantly, and was a geniunely exciting player to watch at the time. I was raving on about his peformances at the time.
Nobody knows whether he could have kept this form going, or whether he would have been found out, but it was clear he was never the same player when he came back, as sadly he had lost his pace.
I agree with you. The injury seemed to take not only most/all of his pace but all his confidence as well.
Rhodes was only ever a good substitute, sadly I remember him most for his miss more than anything at Grimsby in the great escape and I knew then he was on his way out

You must be joking!![]()

impression he felt he could get round any full back before the injury
Thats all well and good if you can also deliver a final ball which he has never done with any consistency,.

Aaron Lennon has made a living in the premiership and earned a few england caps from getting round the full back and c*cking the final ball up!!!![]()
yeah, but apart from that.....![]()
Has joined Woking on loan from Rotherham for the rest of the season.
United or City?![]()
Left Oxford by mutual consent after failing to break into the first team.
Shame really, he is heading back to the Rymans level from whence he came.
Brentford legend...remember that Bournemouth game when he scored and GP went wild
Not too far from Newmarket. Gradually working his way back home.
Released by Grays, godspeed Alex.
Good luck where ever you end up.
Never forget the goal against AFCB.
What if, What wasn't and what might have been...........
McShane
Double ****!
Only positive thing to say is having seen his performances in the premiership, in one way we shouldn't have felt cheated when Hull paid £500k or whatever it was for him, it was more than he was worth. Easily the worst player to have played in the premiership and one of the dirties.
