Amir Khan

Amir Khan

I get the impression the ITV commentators make a big point of stating that he isn't ready for a world title fight.

I wonder which broadcaster wouldn't get the rights to his first world title fight. :grey:

Amir Khan

Of course it's right but I don't need to be told it 20 times after the fight has finished.

well get the wife to get up and change the channels as soon as the Ref stops the fight next time ?

:D

Quality fight last night. :sorted:

Agree he's still got a bit of work to do dominate his division.

Not sure if it was the post fight euphoria?, but I could have sworn the ringmaster last night was the fella out of Grange Hill when I was a lad.

Amir Khan

Looked like two windmilling Irishmen after closing time :(

(for the most part!)

Didn't watch the fight but have seen that fella before. Had me puzzled at first as well, think he was in Operation Good Guys on BBC2 also

Amir Khan

but did the Ref stop it too soon ?
 i think so

Khan still looks vulnerable, and the punch that knocked him down didn't seem to be that hard.
Ermm....it would probably have snapped you in half fella

I thought some of the combo's he stuck together were awsome, defo not ready for world title yet though IMO
:nono:

Amir Khan

Khan still learnig when he gets to fight a good fighter
then he will get beat if he don't inprove his defence

Amir Khan

Looked like a battering from the word go, for me. Said as much on MSN to a mate and he agreed. Short while later there's a broken white dude.

To get ready for a title fight Amir needs to focus, channel his energy up through his chest, around his shoulders, then down his outstretched arms and through his touching wrists... HADOOOKEN!

I thought I was going mad as I thought the bloke who did the AA adverts ( Hi Kev, Hi Bev etc) was the ringmaster. I've now come on here and realised it was. Thank you GPG!

Amir Khan

Kahn is very Chinny, unless his defence improves he will be knocked out when he fights in America against the big boys.

I don't think he is chinny, but he is way too open and it he was always at risk of going down against Gomez, as hooks are all he has left. They are going to have to tighten up his defence, as he is an accident waiting to happen at the moment.

Khan should be ready for world title shots in six fights or so, but knowing Warren, he will probably move up in class in around sixty fights or so.

Amir Khan

Having said all that, he ****ing batters them when he's finishing them off doesn't he?

Fastest combinations i have seen for a while.

Adverts between every round during the Gomez fight !!!!!!

When did they start doing that. I thought advertisement frequency was controlled by the television watchdogs.

Amir Khan

but who watches the watchdogs ?

They sell a certain amout of slots, and realistically have to get them in a soon as possible, during the fight as there is a high chance of there not being later rounds due to the nature of the sport (and Mr Warren's questionable matchmaking).

I imagine had the fight gone the distance, the latter rounds would have only had an ad break every other round.

Amir Khan

Really? Could have got 6 the other bloke. 30 seconds, its like a greyhound race.

Amir Khan

Frank Warren has pished on his chips tonight especially after losing Calzaghe. He knew that Khan was not a good long term bet after being floored in his last fight and wanted to cash in by putting him on Pay-Per-View on Sky. It will be a long way back for Khan now.

Amir Khan

lol

I think it would have been worth having Sky Box Office just to see him get his arse kicked.

What's wrong with Amir Khan - why don't we like him.

Amir Khan

I don't like him because when he was representing Great Britain in the Olympics all his relations in the crowd who said they were supporting him were waving the Pakistan flag. :nono:

Amir Khan

Oh right. He's a Pakistani by blood line isn't he - can't he be be proud of both countries?

Amir Khan

If I ever got the opportunity to get to an international standing in sport, I'd happily wave a Welsh flag as well as English and British. Presumably I'd be an objectionable sh*t because of it.

if the cap fits.....................

Amir Khan

you did set yourself up..................

Amir Khan

I won 62 quid for predicting a KO for Khan. Thanks Amir:sorted:

After the Limond fight (rocked by a non puncher) it was obvious that a puncher would knock him out. Khan isn't built to take punches. Some boxers are, some aren't.

It's going to be a very, very long road back for Khan. Back to 'safe' opponents now me thinks.

For those that were too cheap to get it on SBO, here is the "fight"

It was all too predictable. Getting dropped by Willie Limond was a huge warning sign about the quality of Khan's chin. I'd always called him an accident waiting to happen and Frank knew it as he kept hiom away from punchers. (save Gomez and Khan was on the canvas in that fight too)

Really? His dad was wearing a Union Jack waistcoat at the olympics, and waving a Union Jack above his head. Even dyed in the wool right wing commentators like John Gaunt praise him for his patriotism.

And as to the comment about not being able to be proud of the country you're from and the one where your family's heritage is from, what absolute twaddle.

I watched him all the way through and my recollections are the same as Chorlton Bee's. He and his family supporters have been the model of how to integrate two cultures. Could your dislike of him have anything to do with the fact he is not white and representing Great Britain?

Prescott took the win with some dignity then:rolleyes:
