I don't think there were any options. Alexander and Forster were knackered and the ball kept coming back at us. With what we had on the bench it was the only thing to do... and Charlton were desperately trying to score, as well.

If they were both tired then leave the taller one up on his own as after playing 65 minutes of football, they came back in scored and we put 5 in midfield and passed all 5 with high balls. First half was excellemt thoughm swallows and summers:wave:

Andy Scott

F'kin doubters !!!!!
I told you we would win !!
Scott In !

Brentford are heading for the League Cup Quarter Finals
YoooooooooooRedzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Andy Scott

No but that was a performance with passes through midfield, one twos and tippy tappy. It wasn't a normal AS performance now was it?:rolleyes:

but is what you have been complaining about ? that we arent entertaining enough ? we were blinding 1st half, top entertainment stuff,2nd still played well, created chances, once they got theirs and had our 3rd disallowed it was always gona be a hairy finale and i think Scotts tactis late on were spot on

No pleasing some people mate !

Andy Scott

We played well today I wasnt impressed with moving to 4-5-1 straight away when they scored it could have gave them even more impetus to grab a second nor with Hunt coming on for Wood with three right wingers on the bench but a win is a win and lets hopefully kick on from here. I did want AS to go and am not going to switch straight away but we really have to kick on now.

Andy Scott has proved to all the doubters that he can motivate his players.

Oh, I was talking to a "star" player after the game and they have all the respect and love working for Scott.

good times are ahead:sorted:

That's what I said, it was not our normal crap.

No pleasing some
Obviously,Sadly.today was our best performance, better than Wednesday as i thought Charlton came at us more,or tried !
Great attacking, great defending, filled out the centre midfield and they got forward more !,i thought the subs were good, came on and done the job.we are still limited upfront with injuries etc,a few more outfields missing on top today and we still played great,im buzzing, had a feeling we'd get something today but not as well as that, should of been loads more.people still wana find faults or are not completety happy.id have been happy with the sh!tiest, scrappiest 1-o and we couldnt have been further from the truth today

YOU REDS

Andy Scott

You know I'm always ready.:D
We fecking won and the tarmac up the M1 smelt sweeter, saw some football too so not in an arguing mood.

Excellent, another win on Sat and out of the relegation zone and we will be fine:sorted:

Bring on the Brum Scum !!

Andy Scott

Was a good game to listen to on Bees Player, but that's down to MarkyBee and Billy Reeves. The standard of football from the bees in the 1st half sounded pretty awesome tbh. However i aint changed my mind about AS, but as I've said before I hope he proves me wrong. One swallow doesn't make a summer,we now need a string of performances like today. Over to you Mr Scott, convince me I'm wrong to doubt you.

Andy Scott

Bullivant was more vocal and actually up and down the technical area and communicating alot better!

They could have put in a solid performance in case the next manager was watching from the stands. :fishing:

Andy Scott

Yeah the very same one that took us to the playoffs and two fa cup 5th rounds. on a lot smaller budget. The same that bought good players like Turner , Sam , DJ Deon. and the same that never called a fan a ****ing *****, a man that respected bees fans.

Although he does appear to have called Jay Tabb a little sh*t...

Andy Scott

Credit where it is due, they played well and got the result. Its obviously not that they cannot do it, just need to do it consistently. Scott went absolutley crazy at Dave's strike running and jumping down the touchline, great to see. We must move on. Many of the areas that Scott has been criticised for on here over the past few days he delivered on today, long may it continue.

Andy Scott

So where do we all stand now? Is he suddenly The King again?

Today's 3 points are welcome, but we were ecstatic after the Everton game only to have our good faith assaulted just days later. So forgive me, but I'll be happier if a few results are strung together and AS pulls us out of this mess.

and so will the rest of us.why not just comment about how good we were today,a hopeful step in the right direction, goes without saying.Instead of still trying be negative

Don't get me wrong, I am satisfied. But today is just one battle in a series which need to be won in order to breathe life into the season. I'm looking at the bigger picture, just like I was after the Brighton game when I was extremely concerned.

115 people voted for AS to removed, but I wonder how many of those have quickly changed their tune. And while a day or two ago I began the process of softening up my stance a little, I refuse to be accused of being fickle, hence I wont be prancing up and down and declaring "In AS We Trust" just days after ranting and raving.

satisfied?im buzzing about today, proud as of the performance.it was top class all round.Of course its 1 battle? theres a season of games to compete.Brighton was awful as were a few of the recent league games, today was great, along with other games already played! it was only our 10th game of the season !? i trust in AS for what he has already done for the club and i am way off joining the anti Scott brigade...we should be ranting and raving about todays, result and performance as it shows what we are capable of

Andy Scott

Nearly threw it away in the 2nd half. Why did we defend so Deep?:banghead:
Why take Alexander off and put Bean on ?
Lets go for a 3rd goal not defend 2-1 ,that frustrates me
Dave was struggling big time and he should have come off.

You must be gutted tonight. I'm absolutely convinced by your posts that the last thing you want is to be proved wrong (if I've got that wrong, you need to reconsider some of the stuff you write). However, don't worry, if we lose next week, you can remind us all how you don't rate Scott. You never did as a player, didn't as a manager when his players (not him of course) won league two & don't rate him now. I'm already looking forward to next week.

As an aside, I can see why some have their doubts at the moment. What was interesting today, was the reception that Scott got from the fans at the begining, middle & end. Good job they haven't all got the knives out like you have.

midfielder on for a striker as it was getting late,a goal between us,though a seemingly perfectly good goal was disallowed, and we were understandably under the cosh a bit, seems logical to me.and was stated earlier that our forwads looked tired so fresh legs

Andy Scott

Alexander was dead on his feet. Fair play, he got us the first goal but you have to admit he's a bit of a donkey isn't he? If only Matthew Benham and BU had done the deal 12 months earlier, maybe Jordan Rhodes could have been secured? Rhodes V Garry? No contest. Get well soon Robbie, we really need you.

there's a bit of a sanctimonious holier than thou stench coming from this thread. where are the doubters now indeed... it's ever so simple, if the manager is doing his job then jolly good, that's exactly what is expected and if not, then make way for someone who can. i'm loyal to the BEES not the manager, people on here are trying to twist it into some kind of personal dislike of scott, that's rubbish, i don't have any interest whatsoever in scott's personality or character, if i think he's past his best before date then i will say so. if posters on here want to put individual before club then that's up to them, but don't make out that disenchantment with scott is treacherous ingratitude???? do your job properly scott and i'll back you as i have since day 1 of your job, but serve up bilge that is detrimental to my beloved BEES and i won't half moan about it.

Excuse me for being blunt but you do talk utter nonsense. I'm as pleased as anyone else that the bees won in style today. I dont mind being proved wrong at all. I've been proved wrong before in my 70 yrs on this planet, and no doubt I will be proved wrong again. You should read my posts with more care,or better still dont read them at all,if they get up your snotbox that much. I have never knocked anyone on the gpg for supporting AS. It seems to me you like having a dig at me whenever you can. That's ok, I wont lose any sleep over it.

Andy Scott

No denying that was a much better performance. First half we were excellent. However, from about 60/65mins they dominated - although we still had plenty of chances. That was about the time Alexander seemed out of it - I don't think he jumped for a header from then till going off - it was Forster winning the headers and flicking on. Problem was there was no Cort on the bench so no obvious replacement. I would have moved Weston up, Wood to the left and Adams/Hudson on the right....but we won. I do like the fact that we are now leaving Weston back at set pieces to cover counter attacks! A lot cheering Scotts name in ER.........We need to maintain somewhere near this level for a period of time for more to join in.

No I don't have a dig at you whenever I can. I do however, pick you up when you keep repeating your mantra i.e. you don't rate AS, never have etc, etc. It's the repition that hacks me off & it's unneccessary. I / we know your point of view but when you continually express that view it starts to sound like you're on some sort of "witch hunt".

I do geniunely believe (maybe wrongly) that you will be delighted to say "I told you so" if AS fails. The only way I can get that impression is from your posts which I do read with care.

In case you think I'm living in some sort of Never Never land; I will say this again: I can understand why some are questioning AS's performance to date (this season). In the main, it has been very hard to watch - long ball hit & hope, with not much hope at the end of it. Today was better but we need to take that performance into our next match.

I wish AS & his team well. As did most , if not all of the fans around me today.

Andy Scott

Excellent performance first half where we mixed tippy tappy and longer ball and showed that we can play football, would suggest however that Charlton had not done there homework as Myles was allowed to play.
"nd half Charlton doubled on Myles and our outball was lost, at that stage we were crying out for Myles and Sam to swap wings to confuse the Charlton defence but instead we started to get deeper and revert more to hitting the ball long where it came straight back.
Very pleased with the result and hope that the team can watch the dvd of the first half yesterday and repeat adnauseam. Scott still needs to work on tactics when Myles is ineffective or double marked however yesterday was a big result for him and we need to repeat this on saturday.
Tuesday I woulkd hope he plays all those that did not play or only played a bit yesterday as the likes of Forster and Alexander need to be protected whilst all our forwards are injured.

Andy Scott

if the games versus walsall, rochdale and orient were 'examples of a team not playing for its manager' as some on here seem to think he's lost the dressing etc yesterday was surely a case of a team playing for the manager?

You seem to miss a
lot of peoples points myself included. We are all over the moon about our win yesterday, persoally I was not happy with the last half hour. We sat too deep and invited Charlton to dominate the last third. It could easily (It didn't) have backfired and there would have beem a lot of us going mental. I don't think any of us want Andy to go, maybe the odd exception. It is not in anyones best interest for this to happen, everyone knows that the players we have are too good for our current league position.
These are Andys players and he has made sone good signings, Where he goes wrong IMO is his tactics and believe me he has a lot to learn
He needs to trust his team , and allow them to express themselfs on the pitch, we have all seen what they can do. My complaint goes back to the very begining of Andys tenure. We put in a good shift (as they say) one game then we go to yeovil or Exeter and play utter sh*te. I sit in the new RD and I can hear a lot of his instructions ( some of it is not very impressive)
I myself do not think he is as good as some on here make out, but I shared his relief cos that is what it was when Dave scored th 2nd. He has loads to learn , and in fairness to him seems to learn by his mistakes, he tends to revert back into them. Some thing he must strive for amd aim for is consistancy.

Andy Scott

Our passing (and interception) in the first half was excellent, absolute balls to all those people that say AS has a rigid play style. We completely outclassed Charlton in the first half, and AS changed the formation late in the 2nd which won us the game. Well done Andy, keep it up and the rebels will go quiet and then subtley change their opinion.

Hamer pulled of some good saves, if Sodje hit the target instead of blasting wide late on, 2-2 could well have been the final result. We let them come onto us late into the game, the extra midfielders didn't really help. We should've made them think and changed our play to put pressure on their back four rather than let them come onto ours. Differing of Opinions. Please stop going on about where are the doubters now too. Getting as bad as Holder. We're all still here, moaning and groaning too, Holder isn't, and at some point AS too. Whether it's to a better club or he takes the Bees as far as he can.

Basically this thread has been wildly asserting nasty things about AS's managerial style, slammed his tactical awareness, and said that he has lost the dressing room amongst other slights. Before yesterday It was a sanctimonious 'We know more than you, trust us, you will look back in retrospect and agree that AS should have gone' thread.

So yes, expect a little bit of nose-thumbing and holier than thou-ness. And also expect a lot of swift changes of opinion from the doubters. Dont get lemaan because you have been proved wrong :nono: If you think that people are being ott with beating down the insurgents, it is clear where you previously stood on the issue.

The applause for AS before the game suggests to me that more people have a lot of faith in him, than the vocal minority on here.

And the booing at Orient? You act like a girl, AS did his job yesterday, most league games this season have been crap, he owes us more than one.
I don't do man-love and have never worried about managers and players leaving, Scott has been quick to show the door to players not performing and he's lucky the board aren't so hasty. It's been a crap start but we all hope that we have turned the corner, I've thought that a few times this season but will allow myself to think this is the real turner.
Do you really expect anyone with a doubt about AS to hate that victory, 4 and a half hours in a car hoping to lose so that I can post that he must go?
Grow up fella.
