Andy Scott should stay. Look where he's got us in 2 and a half years. League 2 relegation candidates to a team that SHOULD be pushing for the players. He has until christmas IMO. Until them, lets get behind him and his team and stop booing them after a poor performance. That wont get us up the league.

It's interesting isn't it? Scott has been ruthless in cutting players that didn't make improvements ...... is that the recipe for success for a football board with respect to their football manager too?

Hard to say, he's brought in players that are too simiular to players we have already got. Why did he buy McCraken, Hudson and Adams? We have players that do those jobs. I'd rather see money spent on an attacking midfielder and possibly another striker because we are lacking so much up front. We rely too much on Weston if I am honest. When he has a bad game, we lose and it works the other way round too.

He Needs to look in the mirror, but then he might say which one? Egotistical b.......d

I'm skint, took my youngest to her first awayday, cost me loads, I did not get value for my money. Learn another trick please mr Scott.

Andy Scott

I wanted him out this time last year .
I saw him for what he was worth then.
We have a much bigger budget than we have had for years and he has wasted it.
Cant organise cant motivate cant select

I never wanted him in the 1st place. At the time i wanted Liam Daish tbh.

Dean Holdsworth seems to be doing rather well at Newport.

Andy Scott

Remember how crap we were towards the end of last season, those awful home games with Hartlepool, Yeovil, Exeter, those crap performances away at Bristol and others with that comedy defensive show at nervy Swindon. I put it down to already achieving our aim of staying up, injury and tiredness within a smallish squad. We are playing the same way without any excuse of tiredness, injury and squad size, we've lost Simpson and that's a blow but our squad shouldn't be in trouble with just losing one man.

Andy Scott

After spending £60 to go to tonights game, i'll give him 3 matches, Brighton, charlton and Oldham, people say MA was naieve what is Scotty??

Can't argue with that :sorted:

Andy Scott

I bet nobody on here was though !

I'm sure there were some moans - in respect of why can't the players 'get up' for the bread & butter games......No one was moaning about the performance of the Everton game - why would they? Pick any other game (except Sheff W) and there were plenty of moans.

I'm not happy how we are playing or the position we are in, but having been a supporter for nearly 30 yrs - I know things will change, be it, a) with Scott not doing anything different and things just click (unlikely) b) Scott changing to a more aggressive style of play (unlikely) c) Scott not being part of it (?) d) something else eg getting a dynamic midfieder (?)

The squad on paper looks good - but it isn't being utilised and the better players appear to be restricted in what they can do when they do play.....our defence seems to be ok - with or without Lee, but we can't convert even a small percentage of our chances - part of that is quality of our strikeforce, part is service, part is support from midfield and a lot is to do with confidence/trust.......in both the players and mgr.

When teams come to GP to not lose - 1 of our midfielders should play an advance role....if they come to play, we can play our 'normal' game.
I'd love to see the ball bounce to one of our players on the edge of the box and he just belts it....Adams seems to be the only 1 who does this.....Of the goals we have scored, how many are from set pieces???? Of the goals we've conceded, how many are from counter attacks?

I know I'm rambling (not been drinking). There is a saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.....well it is looking very broke at the moment........Unhappy of Watford!

Just got back from the States yesterday last game l saw was Rochdale at home.Would have gone tonight but felt wiped out(thats why l am still up at this time )so listened to game on BBC London. My thoughts were that by the time we played home to Charlton,my first game back, would be a good time to judge the managers position after 10 games.Well as many posters have called me and others "hysterical doomongers " and the "reality check"stuff l think its time for a proper reality check.Andy Scott has had the Biggest playing budget in the clubs history 3.5 million reportedly, thats at a club with a turnover of around 2 million if continued for another 3 seasons we would be heading for a debt of 20 million that set against a reducing asset,Griffin Park. The manager has had 100%support from the board for both his on and off the field initiatives. We now have 15 players on 2 year contracts and 3 on 3 years so we are pretty well stuck with this squad that the manager is unable to motivate or coach into a winning team.Andy Scott is the classic chocolate man if you are successfull you can get away with it a bit like Jackson the Huddersfield manager more interested in his suit, when did you last see AS in a Brentford tie when on tv?If I was Matthew Benham l would call him in tommorrow and tell him thanks for your efforts but its time for a change.I think the game was up when AS makes comments like "punching above our weight" "fans need a reality check we won't win the league"and the all time favourite"10th place budget"well god help us when we play some of these unconfirmed top ten (excluding Sheff Wed).

Andy Scott

"if continued for another 3 seasons we would be heading for a debt of 20 million "

This isn't correct. MB's cash input is not debt, it is in the form of equity

Andy Scott

"Plan A" did not work tonight and that was obvious to many - So we went to "Plan A". We have to be able to change things around if the game plan is not working and I do not see Mr Scott / Bullivant having the ideas required to do so.

Tuesday night was great but we need to get out of this division.

Can you see it with this management regime.

Andy Scott

I'm still in the "its too early to decide" but fail to win against either Brighton and Charlton and the pressure is really on for AS.

I thought the 1million a year he has committed over the next few years was under that condition did not realise the extra money for the playing budget was also.

We need two number one managers to fight it out for the top spot. Or better yet lets get a manager on loan who is cup tied. They can take over the league games while AS handles the cup games.

Waiting until Christmas is no good. If we've still got 6 points after a quarter of the season then we are in considerable trouble. Scott is an astute man who knows he'll lose his job if he doesn't turn things around. The problem seems to be that he wants to but doesn't know how.

Depends if the board have the balls to address.this. What do you think as you raised this?

So did I and Deano would have been my first choice this time if we did not have MB money.

Last season Southampton started with a ten point deduction and just missed the play-offs so for the me the only man for the job is Alan Pardew.

MB likes to have a big name because it brings publicity and puts the players in the shop window if we are doing well. It would also highlight them in a negative way if they continue on current form which they of course would not want plus they would be playing to impress the new manager.

Expect a change on Weds if we fail to come away from withdean with a win,
Pardew in place Thurs in time to face Charlton on Saturday.

(After Rochdale I gave AS four games and to be fair he has sorted out the defence problem in that time. However he has shown no desire to change the style of play or to use his expensively assembled squad correctly - last night was pure naivity on his part and the fitness coach would be out on his ear too if I were in charge!)

Sorry but despite what he has done for us over two years its three wins from the next three games or anything else and your out!

Got to go now,not in 3 months time,or next year.CUP IS A BONUS,league is the bread & butter, this is why he was employed, failng too much,so get him out now before its too late,on paper hes got the best squad ive seen at brentford for years, and dosnt seem too be able to get them too play for him,in the cup they are playing for themselves, shop window ect.

Totally agree.
The number of players he has tried to fit into "his style" is a complete joke. If Arsene Wenger gave us Fabregas on loan Scott would play him on the right wing. All the talk about getting us to the next level was total crap, with all the resources he's been given he cannot put out a winning team that can play a bit of football in this division, can you just imagine how our hoofball would cope in the Championship ??
I wouldn't wait until the Brighton game, get rid of him and Bullivant now and put Nicky Forster in charge until we can get a proper football manager in..

Andy Scott

I wouldn't get rid at the moment. I think our chances of doing anything this season might have gone.

Andy Scott

even leroy and butcher were given longer and what did they ever do for brentford before the season they were sacked? the grass isnt always greener......

we've only played 8 league games, indeed it is frustrating and we've had a dreadful start (i'm ignoring cup performances) but we need a little more patience i feel. although i will concede that andy must make big changes in playing style and which members of the squad start tuesday. may i suggest 4-5-1? if we have to have 2 defensive minded midfielders why not play alexander (or cort?) a bit deeper behind charlie or forster as he's supposed to be the sort of forward who takes the ball down and passes it off to his forward partner? admittedly for whatever reason it hasnt been a great start in that sense for him, his touch at times has been bad! that said we may need someone more mobile in that role to go between midfield and attack quicker/more often. i havent been overally impressed with nicky adams either, its either a half decent run or a half decent cross from him, never both. for whatever reason dave just isnt doing it in centre midfield. the defence however have been superb in the last few games, though i think sometimes spillane can try to be a bit too clever for his own good on the ball, he is a quality player however.

i'm prepared to give andy until after the exeter game, and except for the brighton game i should be at all of the league games, and re-evaluate my opinions then. in the meantime i'll 'do my bit' and chant a little louder and get behind the lads a bit more and if we all do that, as evidenced against everton, maybe we can help give them some confidence and start to turn the corner :sorted: :owusu: although maybe i'm just an optimistic dreamer ;)

Andy Scott

Only fair to give a manager 10 league matches to see how things are progressing. On paper the Bees look strong but if they've still only won one league match by that stage then the manger should be sacked immediately. Expectation for this season is a top 10 finish, 22nd place is not acceptable.

Andy Scott

indeed, its the most sensible thing we can possibly do, replace the manager with 3 years managerial experience plus a few years as assistant manager and youth team manager (i think) and a coach who has been around for over a decade with someone who has only ever been a player and perhaps hasnt even done any coaching badges or whatever qualifications they do. i mean it worked fine when we gave scott fitzgerald a go :sorted:

Andy Scott

Why would you play the same 10 outfield players that played over 2 hrs a couple of days before when you have a good squad of players who can come in.
And why does he drop defenders or midfield players when they have a bad game but plays a strike force that can't score, game after game.

Andy Scott

Can not believe this is even a discussion topic! We are in the fourth round of the Carling Cup who knows could draw Man U or Arsenal an a few hours time and there is a discussion thread on whether the manager who has brought belief back to Griffin Park should be ousted. Andy Scott is doing a great job and fully deserves all our support!!

Andy Scott

Twickersbee, take your rose tinted Andy Scott can do no wrong glasses off.

AS has spent more money this summer than any bees manager in history (bar Noades when he was having a play around). The football we play is dire, fact. The majority of fans can see that we are one dimensional and have no creativity in the team whatsoever. We have scored 4 goals in 8 games, and bar Sheffield Wednesday we have't played a team who should be classed as any better than us. The likes of Walsall, Rochdale and Orient have beaten us without us making them work for it.

If we can only get up for the "big" games - Wednesday, Hull, Everton - then AS cannot motivate his players.

AS purchased the players, he picks the team and the tactics and by 5pm tonight we could be bottom of the league - how is this doing a great job? If it hadn't been for a loanee goalkeeper of absolutely different gravy we would have been relegated last season.

4th round of the Carling Cup - so what? I don't care who we draw, but I hope they knock us out and maybe we can then pay some attention to our relegation form in the league.

Yes 22nd in the league (could be bottom tonight) & 4 goals in 8 games is pure class

You can forget about Pardew. We are a small club. His next club will be a Championship side with average gates in excess of 15,000, or even just maybe he'll get a shot at some Premiership side in trouble who change their manager in the New Year.

Deano is a good shout, Newport have settled nicely into the Conference, and his side scores goals, but it's also quite a risk. Brentford hero...homecoming....not his players........it could all go tits up quite quickly especially as he would be expected to produce results straight away to get us out of the relegation zone.
Mind you, I reckon the football will be better to watch.

Andy Scott

Yeah that's it lets sack our best manager we have had for a very long time for someone who's probably going to be worse and take even longer to build team chemistry. On tuesday it was we love Andy Scott he can't do anything wrong and now it's the death penalty. I suppose I should be used to how fickle us Brentford fans are.

Andy Scott

Difficult decision and I would suggest that the Board are more than aware of where we are in the league and the number of goals we are scoring, at the same time they will surely recognise the success that Scott has acheived in the time he has been here.

As far as I am concerned the football we have played pretty much all the time he has been manager has been horrible however it has been effective in gaining promotion and then consolidation. The question that the board has to be asking is do they beleive that ultimatley this style will be succesful or alternativley has Scott got the ability or desire to change the style.

There is no doubt in my mind that we have a team that can play proper (tippy tappy) football and with that will create more opportunities for scoring goals howver the worry is that Scott has publicly defended his particular brand of football and to make significant changes might seem to be publicly admitting defeat. However I personally beleive that if he was to say that OK it is not working and he is going to chqange things then he will be viewed ifn a far better light and will actually be a better person for it.

The board cannot, in all fairness, sack him whilst we are still in the cup as the results in that competition have to be recognised for the publicity they have supplied however it is imperative that they make it clear to Scott AND Bullivant that an upturn in results is necessary sooner rather than later.

If we go a goal down on saturday I wouldnt like to be AS standing next to the Bill Axby stand which is maybe the most pessimistic stand in the history of football lol

I wouldn't worry too much, he has a habit of turning round and telling anyone that dissents to f**k off anyway. He's all about the feedback and takes it well

Andy Scott

Well the poll shows that over 65% support Andy at this current time. Let's get behind him and the team. We'll get through this bad patch, and shouldn't make rash decisions just because for the first time in his role as manager we are seeing a run of very inconsistent results. We need to think of the long-term future of the club, and as far as I and the majority of others who voted in this poll, this future for the time being includes Andy Scott.

You might not like me for this, but some people in the New Road need to be told to F*** off because they don't go with the intention of supporting the team but instead jumping on everyones back if we make one mistake. It's easily the most pessimistic stand I've seen.
