Exactly what team chemistry do we have?

Well quite a good one to be honest, tuesday evening all the players had a smile on their face throughout the game. Also, we haven't got any players with attitude problems apart from Maybe Sammy Saunders. Scott knows the players well and they trust him. Thats my views, I know you'll disagree but its the truth.

Andy Scott

Yeah that's it lets sack our best manager we have had for a very long time for someone who's probably going to be worse and take even longer to build team chemistry. On tuesday it was we love Andy Scott he can't do anything wrong and now it's the death penalty. I suppose I should be used to how fickle us Brentford fans are.

Careful. Your signature is putting you in the firing line.

Andy Scott

Difficult decision and I would suggest that the Board are more than aware of where we are in the league and the number of goals we are scoring, at the same time they will surely recognise the success that Scott has acheived in the time he has been here.

As far as I am concerned the football we have played pretty much all the time he has been manager has been horrible however it has been effective in gaining promotion and then consolidation. The question that the board has to be asking is do they beleive that ultimatley this style will be succesful or alternativley has Scott got the ability or desire to change the style.

There is no doubt in my mind that we have a team that can play proper (tippy tappy) football and with that will create more opportunities for scoring goals howver the worry is that Scott has publicly defended his particular brand of football and to make significant changes might seem to be publicly admitting defeat. However I personally beleive that if he was to say that OK it is not working and he is going to chqange things then he will be viewed ifn a far better light and will actually be a better person for it.

The board cannot, in all fairness, sack him whilst we are still in the cup as the results in that competition have to be recognised for the publicity they have supplied however it is imperative that they make it clear to Scott AND Bullivant that an upturn in results is necessary sooner rather than later.

Another quality post from you.:sorted:

Mr Pipe for Manager.

Andy Scott

Two very tough games to come. I suspect this whole thing will be decided by the board in the next month.

Andy Scott

If we go a goal down on saturday I wouldnt like to be AS standing next to the Bill Axby stand which is maybe the most pessimistic stand in the history of football lol

So funny and so true lollollol That's why I moved to the Braemar!

Andy Scott

Playing crap "Hoof ball" might get you promoted from lge2 & maybe keep you in the bottom half of lge 1 but it won't get you to the top of the lge. Scott's tactical knowledge is limited & he is unwilling to change certain players while others seem to get dropped as soon as they make a mistake.

Andy Scott

I wouldn't worry too much, he has a habit of turning round and telling anyone that dissents to f**k off anyway. He's all about the feedback and takes it well

Is AS supposed to be joining Stelling and Co for the draw in the Sky Sports Studio?:fishing:

Wonder how he will be if Jeff Stelling asks him if he will still be Manager, given our league form, when we travel to Old Trafford on October 25th?:mad1::box::mad2::cry::cry:

Andy Scott

You might not like me for this, but some people in the New Road need to be told to F*** off because they don't go with the intention of supporting the team but instead jumping on everyones back if we make one mistake. It's easily the most pessimistic stand I've seen.

So true!! as a New Roader i'll back AS to tell any of the part time managers sat behind him to F**k off

Andy Scott

As someone who hasn't watched brentford play competitively for about 4 years I feel a bit of a **** sticking my oar in after piss poor performances that I didn't have to sit through. However I am something of a ***** so it's actually quite easy for me to jizz my opinion all over the interweb :bound: :love2:

Give him time. It's time to give a manager who shows some promise a bit of a go. Quite a new team and all that. I bet we don't get relegated so let him have a crack. Thankyou for your attention. Carry on.

Andy Scott

Some times I want to pull my hair out!! Lee gets droppped what the hell is that crap all about! Saunders plays well in his two sub appearances after poor ish displays by Adams but Hudson who hasnt kicked a ball all season takes his place on the bench!
Forster has a good pre season, plays pretty well and near deadline Alexander just strolls up and takes his place!
Surely the dressing room cant be a happy one with AS making these crazy decisions!

Forster seems to have some stomach problems that will need an operation, hence why he can only play X amount of mins a match. Make sense to you?

so we would have needed another forward to replace him anyway

Carl Cort is still some way away from full match fitness , and it looks like Robbie simpson is having some injury issues.

Judging by what I saw of Cort yesterday, he's an absolute mile away from full fitness.

Apparently Forster has a stomach problem? Needs a operation? Funny he only mentions it now! I've seen Scottys interveiw after Leyton Orient, he's getting very arsey with the interveiwers when they point out the areas where his team is playing crap!

He needs to sort it out and if hes short of front players, get one in on loan for a month till the other strikers recover. If we keep this up I see a relegation battle.

Andy Scott

Can not believe this is even a discussion topic! We are in the fourth round of the Carling Cup who knows could draw Man U or Arsenal an a few hours time and there is a discussion thread on whether the manager who has brought belief back to Griffin Park should be ousted. Andy Scott is doing a great job and fully deserves all our support!!

Are you a Fulham fan?

Andy Scott

Are Brentford supporters all manic-depressives? Or amnesiacs? Talk about the agony and the ecstasy. Only three days ago fans were having mystic visions about Brentford's achievement; now the lynch mob is out. I remember the fan who swooned: "ah, it's a hard life supporting Brentford, but nights like tonight make it all worthwhile." Does he still think it's all worthwhile? Or is he part of the posse?

Let's keep a sense of perspective. In all competitive games, Andy Scott's teams have won five, lost four and drawn three. That's a very respectable record. And yes, I'm counting the Everton game as a win - they're premier league, after all. (Two of the cup wins were against teams from a higher division, two were against teams from a lower division). Scott's sin is to have his team win the wrong games.

To be sure, the points total in league games is disappointing. One point from the first four games. Five points from the next four games. At least the trend is in the right direction. The defence was a problem to begin with; that seems to have been worked out. Now the attack is misfiring (though having your top scorer sidelined doesn't help). It's not unreasonable to believe that Scott is capable of resolving that problem too.

Meanwhile the armchair managers and fans with 20/20 hindsight have the knives out. One poster believes that the players get the credit when they win and the manager gets the blame when they lose; you suspect he'd be happier to see Brentford in a lower division as long as it was with another manager. And then there's the poster who demands, yes he positively demands, three points in the next game. Otherwise he'll throw a temper tantrum, so there. He reminds me of Violet Elizabeth in the Just William books: "I want three points now and if I don't get them I'll thcweam and I'll thcweam and I'll thcweam."

It's far too soon, and somehow indecent, to be talking about changing the manager. Sure, Scott has made mistakes; which manager hasn't? But in view of his previous achievements, he deserves at the very least a full half-season before there's any talk of failure. One day, possibly, there may come a time when the directors decide they have to offer Scott a silver platter bearing a tumbler of whisky and a pistol and suggest that he visit the library. I wouldn't bet on it. For what it's worth, I believe that GPG is doing the club a disservice by running a poll on whether the manager should or not be booted out. You expect fair-weather fans at the big clubs; Brentford are better than that.

Think people saying he should go now are completely overreacting, you can't sack a manager after 8 games when he's had 2 and a half very good seasons at the club and, this season even though the league is priority he's given us a decent cup run, getting publicity for the club. Having said that this is the first season in his career where he's had a large budget and is expected to get the club promoted within two years - it looks a million miles away from that at the moment. The fact the only away ground we've won at is Stevenage, we've only won in the cup and against the league leaders on sky says something about the motivation of the players as well, but worst of all time and time again he seems to arrogant to admit his mistakes and change things round, both between matches and during matches. Alright if we've got a thin squad and just need to stay up but not when we've spent money and are pushing for the play-offs. T

Someone from the board needs to sit down with him and ask him about how he's going to turn our form around and his man management skills. It's more than saying 'the players have got to believe in themselves' or 'we were the better team'.

Scott's sin is not understanding the right way to play against different types of sides. FFS he admitted after the Hartlepool game that it was his intention to develop an alternative style of play to break down more defensive minded teams and that he will now have to work on that sooner rather than later. Are you happy that after two and a half years we do not have a plan B? Andy is so blinded by belief that his style of play will come through we don't have a plan B for gods sake.

It's no surprise that we have played well against better sides that have come to beat us such as Sheffield Wednesday, Everton and Hull. Against better sides you get more time and space on the ball, as was demonstrated by Myles having the freedom of Griffin Park to run into on Tuesday night to cross for Alexander's goal.

Our problem is playing against teams that come to defend or are evenly matched to us. On every occasion playing against such sides we have come up short because our style of play and tactical nouse has been lacking. This is the manager's responsibility.

Secondly is one of motivation. We are clearly motivated for the bigger sides but have seemed lethargic and lacking energy against the so called lesser sides. How many times have we raced out of the blocks in league games this season? We have generally started slower than the opposition this season. Again this is the manager's responsibility.

If we have taken less than nine points from ten games then questions need to be asked. I have always worked on seeing where we are after ten games. If we are bottom four and clearly not playing well with little sign of any improvement then decisions have to be made.

And for what it's worth I don't care about results from all competitive games. We have only won one game where it really matters and with a reported playing budget of £3.5M that is poor by anyones standards.

Sorry mate if you can stick it out for another 30days good luck to you.

I did not come to the Wednesday game because we were so poor against Rochdale.
I did not come to the Hartlepool game because I had lready decided I had seen enough.
I came to the Everton game because it was Everton and bought my ticket only at 1.40pm on the day of the game.

6 points from 24 is simply not good enough and nine points from next three games may look like an impossible task but it is not, not with this squad!

Anything less and he has to go IMO because the big difference between Scott and Butcher or Rosenoir is expectation.

Rosenoir was appointed because the Board new that the budget was too low to survive in L1 and wanted someone with experience of bringing a cash strapped side out of L2 - forward planning you might call it. Plan to fail is another description.

Butcher was appointed because of his name, nothing else except maybe he was not in a position to demand his own backroom team as Daish was and the lad from Oxford wanted too much money. His budget was one for survival and his team looked far more capable than the points tally suggested and with many believing we were in the worse two sides in the division, which we were not by a country mile, he had to go because it looked like it was going to be closer than it should have been.

AS has had three years, has had a £3M + budget, a turnover of players that suggests his man management skills are not the best (and that is not good at a club where MA is still held such high regard).
Expectation is Top 10 finish pushing for sixth spot and a chance in the Play Offs and we are a million miles from that at moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry guys but ROB is spot on. I have wasted my last cash on watching this sh*te. Scott is tactically nieve. The players would be fine with the right manager. Just have a serious look at who we've played so far & where we are in the table. b***ocks to the league cup it's not the focus of the season. The survey on Scott's departure is wrong. We need to get shot NOW. 1 win in 8 games & we've played perhaps 1 side that will be in the shake up ( Swindon ) Yes & for all you posters who will say they have started badly, they have, but they havn't only scored 4 goals in 8 games, absolutely pathetic & they are now getting results. We are NOT.
There are some decent managers out there with MB's funds which Scott has started to waste we must get the manager changed now. The players clearly have no faith in him & neither do I. I won't be back to watch my team till this pratt is sacked.
Looking at the gates so far, others have already taken this decision!!

SCOTT OUT NOW!!!!:mad1:

Saying the players have no faith in AS is bull. I am not one to judge so quickly, I dont want to be the new Southampton.

3-4 more games to turn it around, AS knows this and we know this.

Please feck off Scott.

It's just that this response is so - how can I put this? - so ungenerous towards a manager who
a) in his first half-season, pulled the club out of a tailspin and brought it to safety;
b) in his first full season, won the League 2 championship by a six-point margin;
c) in his first season at a higher level secured a top-ten berth; and
d) has just removed Everton from one of the two leading cup competitions.

One day you will get your wish and Andy Scott will leave the club. It may not come as soon as you wish but be sure that when it does, there will be half a dozen other clubs lining up for his services.

League 2 clubs maybe but they won't be lining up for him at a higher level until he shows he can manage at a higher level. At the mo he hasn't and last year's finish was in no small measure to a miracle goalkeeper whose saves probably kept us out of the relegation scrap.

Right! He was so damned lucky, wasn't he, in being able to identify and secure the loan of the goalkeeper required to remedy Brentford's problems. How lucky can you get?

You confirm my point. We didn't keep out of the mire by controlling games and playing good football. We relied on an outstanding signing and I doubt that even AS expected such a string of performances from the keeper. AS got lucky. His luck's running out.

Touche, how quickly some people on here forget. We have a good manager in Andy Scott, just because we have a bit of money now people have turned into cutthroats.

He is still learning his trade as a manager, I think he can still take the club further.

e) is overseeing a team that has scored 4 goals in 8 league games.
f) chooses to put out a near identical team on three days rest against a team that hasn't played in a week.
g) is widely perceived by those who watch the games not to have a plan B.

Please comment.

stay calm Mrs Scott all this stress is bad for you lol

I give him credit for getting us out of League 2. I give him no credit for his naive tactics at a higher level and no credit for getting us 6 points out of a possible 24. Can you explain what credit you give him for the cr*p we've had to watch in the league this year? Do you give him credit for the tactics he uses or do you accept that there's a problem? I wouldn't mind if the guy actually indicated that there was a problem and we could all see that he was trying to alter things. He says he's tired of watching Brentford lose games as we have been the better team. Do you agree that we have neen losing league games as the better team?
My concern is that he is out of his depth now and lacks the experience to deal with better managers and players but above all he can't see there's a problem with the way he sets his team up.

Andy Scott

On f) we have plenty raring to go.

Forster might be at the end of his career but surely he could last a bit longer, he is a genuine goal scoring threat and has always delivered. Now's the time to use his experience to good effect.

What happened to Macracken who we got in the summer? He's not even making the bench yet has played SPL (not the best league in the world but still has players more capable than this division!), captained a league 2 side to promotion and played league 1 all of last season. Surely we need players with that sort of experience to steady the ship. The average age of the team must be one of the lowest around, how can we expect them to deliver when they just aren't experienced enough.

AS started well for us but the game is about winning and if we aren't winning things have to change including the manager.

Touche, how quickly some people on here forget. We have a good manager in Andy Scott, just because we have a bit of money now people have turned into cutthroats.

He is still learning his trade as a manager, I think he can still take the club further.

You're always biggin him up, so please answer this:

What was the point of bringing Forster on in the 87th minute ?

What happened to Macracken who we got in the summer? He's not even making the bench yet has played SPL (not the best league in the world but still has players more capable than this division!), captained a league 2 side to promotion and played league 1 all of last season. Surely we need players with that sort of experience to steady the ship. The average age of the team must be one of the lowest around, how can we expect them to deliver when they just aren't experienced enough.

AS started well for us but the game is about winning and if we aren't winning things have to change including the manager.

Who would you drop for McCracken then?

I am not a Scott supporter and often pull out what little hair I have left at some of his decisions. However I have been watching Brentford for over 50 years and seeing a bad run of results is nothing new.

I do worry at the apparrent intransigence of the man with his one style of play and would hope that he and Bullivant would now have the balls to admit that what we are doing on the pitch is not succesful. Now it may not require significant changes but it should, in my opinion, require greater use of the players he has available. Wood for instance must be desperate for a game and perhaps he should hook Myles a bit more to give Sam a chance and at the same time send the message nobodys place is secure.

Up to this season we have worked on the philosophy if its not broken dont change it regarding the style of play, however this season teams have worked us out and the style is broken. If you carry on doing the same thing you will get the same result, ergo sometything needs to change be it the personnel on the pitch or the style they are asked to play.

I actually beleive we have a very capable squad of players and it is now up to Scott to prove that he is a manager with a glittering future by accepting that changes need to be made and to execute those changes soonest. If he continues with the same players playing the same style of football then unless there is a fantastic change of luck I would suggest that the tough managerial style exemplified by Scott is reproduced by the board.
