Tisdale

Hill (not Harry)Rochdale manager

Deano

Terry Brown

Steve Coppell with Matthew Benhams financial support would be superb and you never say never do you steve.

if AS does go, no to Deano do we really want a hero of ours coming and if he fails end up disliking him... no i dont, someone with no ties to the club and defintly no cult hero!

Andy Scott

Yeah, I knew you'd say that.
If AS unearths a forward and a creative midfielder as effective as Czesny was in goal, then all if forgiven. We'll be flying. Pity Bostock didn't work out.

Bostock has hardly set the world on fire since leaving us....:sorted:

Yes our gates....therein lies the problem, if you serve up crap, boring football people stop going. Many like you I suspect would go whatever, I have a ST so may as well go, but there are plenty of on/off fans who will only go when the team's doing well and playing entertaining football.....who's responsibilty is it to produce this ?

The manager's....however, winning football is prized above this.
I accept that Scott is producing neither of these this season - but when was the last time, the Bees had a sustained run of games, playing like Brazil ?

If Scott had played him in his proper position maybe it would have worked out ?

Who would you have dropped for Bostock to play...

Steve Coppell with Matthew Benhams financial support would be superb and you never say never do you steve.

Steve Coppell would spend about 6 hours in the job, then decide it wasn't for him.
FACT !

Tisdale would have an anuerism at the size of the budget, to say nothing of his no.1 hanger on and chief mole - "Keith"

Andy Scott

Much as i respect your opinion they will finish lower mid and he isn't a patch on AS yet.

what do you reckon mate to ex bees hero's being bees manager. i dont think we should go down that road again!

Andy Scott

I mentioned him over the weekend, he comes across a right character with a team that seem to play a brand of football with a smile on their faces.
I always think that most teams play to the personality of their manager.
Coppell's lot were methodical and clever.
Allen's lot were all energy and attitude.
Terry Evans's lot, sorry I mean Holder's lot were brothers in arms.

Copell worked wonders at Reading with ex Brentford players,
Ingemarsson
Sonko
Hunt
Sidwell
....maybe I missed some others, but they played attractive football and held their own in the premier ( until they went down).

Who on here really knows the ins and outs of why he left Brizzle, but the prospect of him and MB really sounds exciting. Coppell has played and managed at the very highest level, I wouldn't want to compare or mention him in the same breath him to the current incumbent as they are worlds apart.

I sort of agree, a Cobblers man told me how good their football is/was and how lucky they were to escape with a 3-0 loss. It's not enough to make a judgement on.

MA bought a smile to the faces of (most) Brentford fans ( smiles are a bit lacking at the moment ) he also made the average fan feel part of the club. His achievements in two and a bit seasons are already well documented.
I would welcome him back tomorrow.......

I now await the flak.....

It certainly is dirty to admit to liking MA, I still don't understand why.

I'm not sure is Diagouraga was here at the same time as Bostock ?, if he was then Dave and Bostock, if it was pre., Dave then I would have gone for Bean and Bostock. Dave as the holding player and Bostock playing just behind the forwards.....

Andy Scott

Dyke would never let MA back.

Wouldn't be his shout anyway,we all know who has the final say.Might add l would have him back tomorrow although deep down it would be a bad move. The same as the AS fans deep down know he should be gone

No Flak from me mate. A lot bang on about he didn't take us up but Scott won't so what's the difference ?
It's so easy for some to forget he bought the likes of Turner, Sodje, Burton and DJ Campbell to the club, Scott hasn't bought anyone even close to this since he's been here, the only one who come slightly close is Dicko and someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Butcher signed him ?

He played for Spurs and England u21's on the right of midfield same as he did for us.

If memory serves me right I think MA signed Ryan.

Andy Scott

Your memory serves you wrong mate.

Ryan Dickson joined Brentford in November 2007, Scott became Manager on Dec 11th 2007, so it's unlikely that HE signed Dickson before he became the manager ?

Ryan signed in January 2008. He was only on loan up till then. So AS signed him permanently

What I meant was: imagine we had a forward or creative midfielder as good as Czesny was in goal.

Scott is nowhere near Martin Allen. Times were great under Allen , If Scott went then bring back Allen. He still loves this club.

i loved it when martin was our manager they were great times and it would be fantastic if he comes back and can bring Adrian Whitbread with him it would certainly bring back the fans, hopefully the board will be able to match his ambitions this time round.

I'm concerned when west wilts says something as radical as this as he is not given to knee jerk comments, the atmosphere at GP this season is dire, apart from ccc2/3 ... Scotts preferred style of play has seen supporters desert in droves. We need a jolt to bring us back to life, this season is already dying on its backside. A scrappy few draws and the occasional 1.0 won't entice many back over the coming winter months.

Interesting that in the 3 hours since I posted the above, no flak has come (yet). On the contrary, lots of regular posters and dyed in the wool Bees fans , Northampton Bee,Kettering Bee, Nick Logan plus others seem to agree with my view .

Andy Scott

Good point but don't waste your breath mate, these lot are too far gone doen the hate road :fishing:

There are some real Stubbom Ass (donkey) on here who don't want AS to succeed and the cut in to deep now with them in that AS could go unbeaten until the end of season and they will still be waiting for him to fall on a sword.
I believe in him at the moment and will intil i can see no promise but in the Sheff Wed,Everton games i did so still hope he is given the time to turn it around,if not then onto the next manager.
9 League games is too early.

Do you remember the sponsored bike ride he did for the club?
I think I'm right in saying that even 'arry Redknap and Sir Alex Ferguson sponsored him too. Maybe one of the boffins on here could set up a poll.

Scott v Allen

Think that might be 1 poll too far.

IIRC, it paid for a night's accommodation at a hotel near Canary Wharf before the Charlton cup game. Apologies if that's not right.

Andy Scott

I love MA, was great when he was in charge, but that time is gone now, let's be honest here, what's he done since he left? Play-offs (I think) with mk dons, about 2 weeks at leicester (not his fault granted) and relegation with cheltenham (again not his fault, as they were crap and he really had no chance of keeping them up)
Be honest people, if any other manager had that track record you wouldn't let him near our club would you?
Some on here are sounding like newcastle fans wanting keegan back!
It may not sound it from what I said, but I did love MA, and he did great when here, but remember that old saying "never go back"

Andy Scott

I love MA as well, would like to see him return one day. I still back AS for the time being but if AS did go i would instantly welcome MA back home.

Andy Scott

if MA came back and started to do well he would be off at the first half decent job that came up, MA might have signed the likes of sodje, turner, dj etc. but he is also the one that wouldn't play stephen hunt ! and signed owusu over keeping burton he had a lot of bad signings also was it £75.000 he paid for willock!!! . Im not a great fan of andy scott i think he has set up a very predictable team this year, but he has done more in the last couple of years than martin allen has

Andy Scott

Tisdale is performing miracles and has impeccable dress sense.
Buckle is well thought of and his football is supposed to be top notch.
Coppell, but that's a dream.
Deano must come into the equation.
Who knows.

I have reached the end of the line with accepting these surrenders that have become more and more frequent, I can't be alone.

Tisdale

Hill (not Harry)Rochdale manager

Deano

Terry Brown

Steve Coppell with Matthew Benhams financial support would be superb and you never say never do you steve.

Let's deal with some of the managers who have been mentioned:-

Tisdale and Hill: I'll deal with these together because they are both on to a good thing at the moment. In terms of potential, Brentford may have more to offer, but apart from that what else is there to attract either of these two from the comfortable positions they find themselves in at the moment?

Coppell: The state we're currently in, we cannot risk someone who has quit a job on two occasions now soon after being recruited. And those who find Scotty's 85th minute substitutions infuriating must remember that Coppell had the same tendencies.

Buckle: He might be fantastic, but I have had enough of ex-Torquay managers to last me a lifetime. And would he want to come back here anyway?

Allen: Great here the first time round, but we are blinded by love. Any other manager with a similar record over the past three or four years, and we wouldn't be even discussing him. The key question is whether or not there really are horses for courses. Is there any example we can draw from where a manager has had success at a club and gone back and had it the second time round? The other question is will we accept absolutely dire football if it's getting results.

Deano: A combination of adored ex-player and his remarkable record at Newport makes him a realistic candidate. Only reservation is I don't think my heart could handle the recriminations if it doesn't work out.

Spot on there Squire.

I luuurve Martin Allen - possibly my happiest times as a Bees fan apart from 92. My heart would have him back tomorrow but my head says no. He took us as far as he could and it would be a sideways, possibly backward step to re-employ him as manager.
What I fear, and I hope isn't the case is that Scott has also taken us as far as he can. The next two home games are absolutely crucial for him, us and Brentford Football Club as a whole. I really hope Scotty can pull something out of the hat and use the last 8 weeks as a learning curve. He also shouldn't be afraid to admit mistakes and ask for help when he needs it - there must be people other than Bullivant who he can call for advice.

Cant be sure of that i think a few years ago he might have but i think now he may realise the grass aint always. And we dont have any proof that Scotty wouldnt go if offered a better deal.

The budget didnt allow us to keep Burton IIRC and Owusu was a signing that most fans wanted.

Willock didnt pay off at all and was a terrible signing partly because he was never going to fill the role left by DJ as they were totally different players.

At least you would know what you getting from him whereas another manager is an increased gamble in that sense.

We all love MA, but we also all need to take stock and realise that he has far more to offer in broadcasting.

Despite our league position, we have spent quite a bit and we have to make the squad of players we have got work, with some slight tinkering in the areas necessary. A manager who is always liable to fall out with half the squad, leaving us shouldering heavy losses when the ones he doesn't want are inevitably moved on (undoubtedly at a far reduced price) would be wasteful and shambolic for us. Thoughts would be that the first decent budget we have had for years and we mucked it up.

Regarding Newcastle, I have treated them as a joke for years because of their messiahs and inward-looking approach of their fans. That culture has mercifully well and truly been silenced by Chris Hughton. We mustn't fall into that trap here. In fact, it would be far more helpful to us if we recruited someone who has no previous attachment to the club, so we can relate to the manager as a neutral and judge on the merits of success and failure.

Andy Scott

i remember the questions put to MA at GP in a question and answer thingy!
MA said that with the budget we had to let him go. And wasnt Rankin kept and not Lloyd. This was pre season and i dont think Owusu was at the club 04/05 season. He signed 05/06 season along with DJ.

Andy Scott

There were good times under MA... but were they down to MA the strategist? The team was good and he could generate enthusiasm but more often than not the tactics were awful, we won despite the tactics and not because of them. There's only so far you can go with shouting and jumping about and he's been found out since.

You can take it that MA is a "no" from me.
