Bees World Commentators

Listened to a few recently here are my comments:

West Ealing Bee: Should be on Radio 5 live. We are lucky to have him. Ace. 10/10

Markybee: Good summariser and not a bad commentator. However offers too much opinion relative to just telling us what is happening. I also get confused when my attention wanders for a moment and he gets very excited about an *opposition* attack :nono: (a one point deduction for that alone) 7/10

Alan Denman: Only listened once. Fell asleep. Could not form a mental picture. However I understand he was ill so judgement reserved.

Geoff Buckingham: Listened twice in the past to him. Can only remember one thing - STOP BLOODY SHOUTING.

I remember listening to Wee Dave in the past - he was half way decent, about time he was given another run IMHO.

p.s. Should add a big thanks to them as they all do the work for nowt.

Bees World Commentators

You forgot multi talented Matt Davis. 12/10 and should also be doing Royal Weddings. :sorted:

Bees World Commentators

MarkyBee is like watching the game on Ceefax - you imagine every opposition attack is bound to be a goal.

"He must score here, surely - no! Throw in to Brentford".

:fishing:

Bees World Commentators

lol lol

Jeez, I dare say it now when the oppo look like they're gonna score. :)

You have forgotten the excellent summarising of Mr Morley....but you'll have a special guest if we have an FA CUP 1st round home tie

...and Matt might do a one off before the end of the season, if he can get away from corporate guests etc :sorted:

Bees World Commentators

Never heard Mr Morley.

No comments from anyone else?

Bees World Commentators

Doe Mr WEB get unplugged and put in a box at the end of a match? Surely no human can talk that much without pausing.

Bees World Commentators

Especially as he is making notes all the while and memorising the Rothamans yearbook from 1974 at the same time.

Bees World Commentators

The exceptional Alan Green does this all the time...

Exeptional and Alan (bee in bonnet so I'll talk about it all the time) Green don't go together. A1 knob imho. :sorted:

Markeybee however, only makes the A2. ;):D

Only when we're playing Gillingham :)

Bees World Commentators

Yes you have.

btw, opinions are only offered when nothing is really happening. The exceptional Alan Green does this all the time...

I'll restate then - I don't remember ever having heard him.

In that case you should say "Whilst the ball is out of play let me bore you with my opinion" :) Otherwise I get worried that your banging about something or other when there's something more important you could be telling us :D

As WEB is hardly ever wrong on most posts of his I read , I have thus wondered about his human credentials before and this appears to confirm my :suspect: ;)

SORRY I SHOUTED!

Very sorry, my friend.I guess I do get a bit carried away-especially if and when we score!
Sometimes the volume is due to the microphone being too near.Unfortunately we do not often get 'instant feedback', unlike tv and radio commentators.
However, I feel I should point out that, in 20 years of doing the job, for the Blind Scheme, and then Beesworld, this is the first complaint...

?

Next match we're going to discuss Tasmanian Pottery 1867-1941 in between throw ins. I have sound opinions on this so please study up on it.

Mark was always my favourite

Bees World Commentators

I assume that we are totally oversubscribed for commentators but if the opportunity ever arose I would be delighted to volunteer.

Bees World Commentators

As a long standing Beesworld subscriber...IMHO...they all do a bloody good job..ok...lol

Good post, but I'd mark Marky Bee at 10/10 also.
Not only does he do a damngood job of doing the commentry, but he takes the time to read peoples texts who are unfortunatly not able to attend matches. Good on yer WEB and MarkyBee,

If you're volunteering NLB then they would be fools to ignore it. I believe that Markybee is responsible for the rota and slots on the rota are in his gift - hence the comment above re "special guest" for the FA Cup 1st round.

Markybee, why was Wee Dave dropped? He did an excellent job.

Bees World Commentators

WEBs' favourite quote is

''It has to be said''
He must say that at least 5,000 times during the course of the game.
Dont worry WEB, you can add youself to a growing list of celebs,as in

Norman ''bite yer ankles'' Hunter
Vinnie ''Grab yer bollox'' Jones
Scott ''Tap in'' Fitzgerald
Etc,etc.

NLB was sorted for a game in Jan (last night) and it won't be a one off either. He will be a great addition to the team, after he expressed an interet I PM'd him straight away:sorted: He will be, of course expected to get in the infamous "Raining goals at GP" when we score our 5th or 6th :sorted:

Wee Dave did one LDV match about 5 years ago (though he denies he was there;) ) and I didn't realise he waned to get involved:confused:

Excellent! However is the schedule really full between now and Jan? Can't we get NLB on sooner?

Maybe WD didn't want to get involved, however the fact that he did get involved might be a clue. :) But he can speak for himself.

Bees World Commentators

I'm sure he can too :)....and if he would like to get involved he ony has to PM me. He's not the shy retiring type so I reckon he might have done before you became his agent. The schedule is done twice a season and is booked up until the new year.

We try and make sure there is at least one commentator each match who is seeing the team regularly (ie away matches too) so that listeners get a better refelection of the team and players form.

After meeting the genial Ian Darke the other day and announcing myself as WEB's agent the Sky team are set to make us an offer for his services but it depends on whether the Test Match Special team come through with the contract we have been negotiating for some time.

Non stop for five days. I can just imagine Blowers "My dear old thing, would you mind shutting the **** up."

Righto.

How many times will you be scheduling NLB?

FA CUP 1st round will have a summariser. She's brash, sassy, intelligent and knows her football.

Bees World Commentators

I'd just like to know the scheduling happens twice a year. Surely this means that you have to "Take a Chance on NLB" and schedule him often from Jan-May and hope he's ok, or schedule him once and if he's great you'll say to him "Brilliant job NLB, see you in August". Doesn't make sense does it.

Why have we had to wait until the FA Cup 1st Round for this new commentator. Surely she would have been scheduled in before the season and if she is so great we could have found out in August. Must be Beezy Babe :sorted:

Bees World Commentators

It Is Easy To Be Critical...

I have had the pleasure -and privilege-of co-commentating with Alan Denman for around 20years, and Mark Burridge for around 7 years. They are both very professional indeed in their preparation and skilfully strike the right balance of being informative yet still exuding a passion for Brentford.I know that the club's blind listeners have particularly appreciated the great work done by these guys, over many years., and ,also, a good number of favourable text messages are recieved on a regular basis from Beesworld listeners. Also, not only is this work unpaid, but we actually spend money to do it.We still pay for our match tickets and, in Alan's case, he drives up from Woking. If he was unwell on the day you listened to him it says much for his dedication to the club that he still fulfilled his duty.Alan, in fact, previously reached the 'semi-final' of a BBC commentary competition, and has been serving the club in this role for longer than anyone else in the club's history.
Sometimes the job can be particularly testing as the equipment often fails, the conditions are very cramped and uncomfortable, and other radio and press commentators and reporters are gabbling away within a few feet of us. Also,in recent seasons, we do not even get any thanks from the club for our efforts....

No need to "take a chance on NLB". He's a pro.

If and when you come back for a match, maybe we can have your good self in for some expert summary?

No its not Beezy. The young lady will have to keep you in suspenders unless she wishes to make herself known. Its not young Miss Oatley by the way.:D

Quite agree,on the odd occasion I have had to listen to the
opposition commentary when there has been a technical problem
with the Bees coverage it has never seemed as good as ours.
That may be because it is slanted towards the team we are not
supporting but I enjoy lestening to ALL of our lads.I think "big Dave"
on the odd occasions he does the summaries always talks a lot of
sense, nice if could be on more often.
So I say well done to everyone who takes part, match days would not
be the same here in Spain and previously when I was in California without
your efforts.

I understand all of that Geoff (and I know most of it to be true). I wasn't meant to be disparaging and I said that I know that the work is unpaid. I also said that (as a new listener) I would reserve judgement on Alan as I knew he struggled with his illness on the day I heard him.

If you don't get any thanks from the club then you can have some from me and the rest of the GPGers. Thanks :sorted: However I have heard that it is a thankless task before from the club and I guess a small token of thanks would not go amiss.

Another reason to start this thread was to raise the profile of this service which I think is excellent value for money (probably because we don't pay you :D ) and a lifeline to those that cannot get to a match. I hope by listening I can try and provide some feedback and I have which is why we got the two O'Connor's distinguished from each other in the second half of the Luton match.

Bees World Commentators

How do you get involved in this then ???

I currently commentate for Jack FM covering Oxford games in the BSP but can't bring myslef to get excited about their games too much unless Karleigh, Evo or Hutch have got the ball and I'm all too often glacning at the laptop to see how The Bees are doing.

Can somebody PM me please and let me know who to contact ???

Cheers.

Bees World Commentators

PM Markybee

The rota is full now though, unless you are female and Markybee thinks you are sexy ;)

Bees World Commentators

For someone like me who doesn't get to as many games as I'd like, all the commentators do a fantastic job.

Well done lads, and it's nice to listen to a totally bias commentary

* I should mention this is only if we get a home draw :D

You do realise that any commentator has to be "staunch loyal and long standing bees fans not some of the johnny come lately crew".((c) bees52bomber) :nono:

Bees World Commentators

I've met her, she was lovely.

I sat next to her, as did young WEB, the last game of the season at Bournemouth when we drew 2-2. Yes, she is rather lovely and she invited me round for dinner in Chiswick. Sadly I was busy.:(

wasn't dropped, I was a glorious one-off

Happy to help out again in future
