I now sit in the paddock, very close to where Andy Scott stands and am frequently frustarted at the negativity of a few people in that section of the ground. Over the years, I have spent time in all four sides of the ground. My favourite spot for atmosphere was New Road, before the seating was put in. The Paddock, around the half way line is probably the most negative home area of the ground, and, unfortunately, that negativity is what Andy Scott hears.
It takes very little for certain individuals in the paddock to start having a pop at our players. In the first half of last season, Marcus Bean, unfairly, got loads of stick. Today, right from the off, a few people were moaning about everything that was not perfect.
I think Andy Scott is quite right to say what he does because some people need a reality check. I have believed for a while now that too many people watch Match of the Day and expect our players to able to replicate that level of football.
I know supporters make differing levels of noise, but if the noise you make is negative, why not keep quiet. I cannot fathom how some people fail to realise the negative impact of their moaning. At times, I might have been too supportive. For example, I refused to boo Leroy or Butcher because I don't believe in voicing negativity, which affects the team's permances. However, when you have a manager that is, undoubtedly, the best we've had since Coppell, why boo and jeer the players. It makes me so angry!!
Has anyone got any ideas about how to stamp this negativity out?
