I think AJ was concussed after the blow to the temple in the 3rd round.
After he put Ruiz down he assumed he’d get him out of there quickly but Ruiz wasn’t hurt enough and came back hard.
AJ’s post match behaviour was a bit odd, as was his reaction to the ref just before it was waved off. Pretty sure that’s concussion.

That’s how I saw it. AJ wasn’t properly mentally and tactically prepared. If AJ stays with it he would prevail. Credit to Ruiz though. Caramba! Now Mexico has the proper heavyweight titles!

I suspect AJ will win the rematch but now there are huge question marks over his durability. Before last night I would have backed AJ against Wilder but now I think he would get knocked out unless he can avoid that right hand which os highly unlikely.

I think Tyson Fury is the one to watch here and even Dillian Whyte will be wanting to get involved.
AJ has to win the rematch and win in style. The heavyweight division will leave him behind if he is not careful and AJ needs to up his game. Too much looking at the bigger picture has taken his eye of the smaller screen and Ruiz Jr proved that.

The problem with AJ has been and always will be he is not a 'boxer'. During the breaks he kept asking his coach Rob McCracken what he though Ruiz would do. Fair enough question from a novice but FFS a proper World Champ should be able to work out how to counter opponents as a fight progressed. My biggest disappointment is it wasn't Tyson Fury who dismantled Joshua, i doubt that fight will ever happen now.

Fury vs Schwarz. Non event. As in football so in boxing. You can only knock over what's in front of you and Fury did that. There wasn't much there.

Fury is brilliant. The way he dodged punches before putting Schwarz down, wow!

Now he’s back in shape there’s no argument in my book. He is the best in the world. Just hope we get to see him fight Joshua, Whyte, Wilder again etc.

Very clever from the fury team, making out schwarz was any good and it was going to be a challenge when i think they knew it would be a walkover. Ofcourse joshua got upset but with ruiz you could see he has ability and his fight with parker could have went either way. Schwarz hasnt fought anyone of note. Still impressed with fury but all this talk this modest talk this week has been to pull in some mug punters

Wilder would be the one.
I think AJ needs to beat Ruiz or he is out of the picture.
Dillian Whyte is ready to fight anyone if they want to fight him, but Tyson is the one and he is not worried about getting in the ring with any of them.
Great to see him back again.

IMO Tyson is probably the best of the three but TBH I'm not impressed with the division as it is now and as it has been for a number of years. All of the big four have wobbly chins and don't defend themselves very well. Good old Earnie Shavers would have flattenerd the lot of them [ for those old enough to remember a time when there were great heavyweights around]. Same for Lennox..

:imwith: That decade with Shavers, Norton, Ellis, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Spinks and Holmes was blessed with truly World Class heavyweight boxers.

Yup. We were spoiled . They could all take one on the chin too. Since then a normal Tyson and Lennox Lewis have stood alone. I used to be amused at how Shavers' contemporaries tried to avoid him like the plague. He was no boxer though. If he had been he would IMO have dominated for years. IMO his fight with Ali caused the brain injury to the greatest. I will never know how Ali stood on his feet after taking some vicious punches. Anyone else would have been in la la land.

Joshua needs to beat Ruiz or it's over for him.

I think as far as Tyson is concerned, it's just him and Wilder going for it.

Very tough thing to judge.
In most sports, year on year, decade on decade, everyone gets bigger, faster, stronger, better trained, etc.
Therefore I do wonder if this is really true, and whether if any of the great oldies (in their prime) jumped in a time machine and got put in against a top modern heavyweight, whether they wouldn't actually come up short.
Would be fascinating to watch......anyone got Dr Who's number?

Have a trip through You Tube. In the end in Boxing it's two guys trying to knock the crap out of one another. IMO no advances in punching, style or how to defend yourself have taken place. Maybe they are a bit fitter but looking at Ruiz I'm not so sure.

I think the boxers have got bigger physically over the years weighing in at 17 and 18 stone + and 6ft 5 + but pound for pound Frazier was a better fighter/warrior than anyone nowadays and Ali was an incredibly clever boxer who controlled the tempo of fights. I’m very confident they'd struggle catch or land punches on Ali at his peak as his ringcraft was superb and he’d embarrass the current crop of big, strong, game but very limited in comparison heavyweight.

Atmosphere seems terrible, i know everyones there purely to watch aj ruiz but for the undercard it seemed ridiculously dull. AJ to win i think in round 10 tko

Superb performance by AJ, Learnt so much from that defeat, the mark of (potentially) a true great.

Fair play AJ, fought a near perfect fight and followed the plan. Ruiz looked so out of condition and guess that’s why he didn’t have anything in the tank to get into a scrap last 4 rounds as I expected.

Fury possibly as he would make Joshua miss a lot but Wilder is a terrible boxee with a massive right hand that gets him out od trouble. If Joshua boxes him like he did on Saturday he wins IMHO

Wilder is a lot taller than Ruiz though with much longer reach, can’t see Joshua avoiding getting hit for 12 rounds and with Wilders power and Joshua’s fragility I think a couple of big hits and the fights over. For example, No way Joshua gets up from a hit as big as the one Fury got up from

Joshua would beat fury imo, wilder is more dangerous to joshua purely because he cant take hits as well as other heavies. Will be fascinating to see if they ever get round to it.

Urm, i think joshuas previous fights are alot more standout than fury or wilder. Breazeale, takam, parker, ruiz, whyte, povetkin.
