Boxing

I thought a draw would have been fair.
Really entertaining, Wilder seemed to be coasting and toying with Chisora so I suppose deserves a narrow win.

Boxing

Wilder won by a comfortable margin and seemed to let Chisora limp home towards the end there. A very scrappy fight in the end. The Riley-Masternak fight was an even more one sided beat down, and it looks as though we might soon see another British cruiserweight world champion. British boxing is in fine health with some of the younger fighters who are coming through.

Boxing

Great atmosphere in there tonight. First time I've seen both Chisora and Wilder in the flesh. Was a fun fight between two fighters well on their way to retirement.
Chaps?
Beer?
Programme?
Hygenie?

Boxing

I hope they both retire sooner rather than later for their own health as neither are close to what they used to be.

Unfortunately boxers sometimes need saving from themselves so I hope Del Boy calls it quits now as he has been in some gruelling fights over the years.

What can you say about that Netflix garbage?

Best fight was first one, I don’t think Huni is the real deal tho, but a decent heavyweight

TKV looked weak, and levels below RR, surprised by the difference

Conor Benn couldn’t stop an injured, old Prograis, has had no power since he stopped juicing, a total hype job and a disgrace

Fury did enough but please just one more from him against AJ, it’s really boring now

Netflix commentary was some of the most inaccurate, inappropriate boxing commentary I’ve ever heard, I wish boxing would stay away from Netflix but it’s $.

Anyway, what a crock of sh*t.

Quite right. Anyone who paid their hard earned to watch that were mugged right off. Frank Warren is the only promoter who consistently puts out decent cards.

Huni was way ahead of Wardley on points when Wardley got lucky.
I think he’s a decent heavy weight.

Can't help but agree - Prograis came out after the fight and said he had injuries to his hand, eye, rib, and jaw before the fight had even started, and that he was thinking of pulling out of the fight all together as late as Friday. Embarrassing how the commentators didn't bother acknowledging Prograis' injuries for the sake of the spectacle. As for Benn, he'll be found out very quickly if he fights everyone who is even European level.

I suppose the point of the card was to set up some better fights down the line with AJ Vs Fury, RR vs Okolie perhaps or Huni, and Benn against one of the welterweight champions - probably Romero who's probably considered the weakest.

Good insights from Viddal Riley who currently holds the British and European Cruiserweight titles and will probably become a world champion soon enough. Certainly one to watch as he ascends to that top level. Articulate too and seems like a decent sort of chap.

Fury should do the honourable thing and hand over the baton by letting Itauma knock him out.

No one really wants to watch that sort of elder abuse! Usyk - Itauma on the other hand would be a hell of a fight but I think it's still too early for Itauma to be thrown in there with the greatest heavyweight of his generation.

Agreed. Usyk is such an intelligent boxer that it isn’t worth it for Itauma right now.

Fully expect Itauma to dominate the heavyweight scene for the next decade. There is otherwise a real lack of top level talent.

It's a bit sad really isn't it, say what you want about the Fury, Joshua, Wilder, Usyk era, it's been at times a really interesting point in heavyweight boxing history, and at others a total gaslighting exercise of the general public.

Usyk is one of the best to ever do it, Fury was pretty good too but not at Usyk level, Joshua is a neat boxer with heavy hands and a glass chin, Wilder was a "if he lands" thriller.
Hate to say it, the heavyweights coming through now just don't have the same "je ne sais quoi"....

Itauma looks incredible, but IMO doesn't have the personality behind him that gets the casual excited. He also doesn't have the competition.

Wardley is a good lad but way too careful with his words to create drama outside the ring, also is relavitely one dimentional. Dubios's about as fascinating as a plank of wood, as unfortunately is Kabayel.

It's missing characters as top level talent as you say.

For a bit of a thrill, I hope Jai Opetia steps up and tries to blast out a few heavyweights before inevitably getting defeated by Itauma.

It's an end of an era, but the era's getting dragged out too long!

Boxing

The issue will be who is prepared to match against him.
I can't see a fight against anyone else that has fought in the previous month.
Jared Anderson is an American with a good reputation. One loss on his record. Kabayel possibly. Maybe Joseph Patker.
He is that good that I'd put him in with anyone outside the top 5 currently.

Parker would be the stepping stone between domestic and upper world level so it would make sense. I think Itauma fights for a world title in 3 fights especially if Usyk retires next year and all the belts are up for grabs. Kabayal would probably be a world title eliminator or for the full belt in the above scenario.

Boxing

I’d slow that down. Another 5 fights first against better opponents to make sure he’s ready.
The WBO President has been making noises about recommending him as their mandatory challenger. If he's happy to take the fight he may well get a shot against the victor of Dubois Parker. Granted it's early but there can't be more than ten heavyweights in the world who would give him any kind of meaningful challenge and the two named above will certainly give him a test. I think he will unify the division in the same way Usyk did, but for that to happen he has to start fighting serious opposition sooner rather than later.

Boxing

Dubois down twice already. Wardley has been rattled. This isn’t going past 6.

Boxing

Wardley stopped in the 11th. The right outcome - he was risking real damage.

Boxing

The best fight I’ve ever fallen asleep in the 5th round of. Just woke up to read about the result.
What a waste of money!

Boxing

Watched it all now!
Wardley is bang average but has an exceptional chin.
He is always likely to find something from somewhere and he has a decent punch.
Maybe could have stopped a round earlier, but I don’t blame the ref.

Boxing

Agreed.

I’d fancy Itauma against either of these.
I'd give him a step up fight against Parker then make a Dubois fight - think Usyk beats him at the moment so keep him away from him.

Winner of Fury v AJ against winner of Dubois v Itauma next year would be a huge fight

Boxing

It was a fabulous fight but one that should have been stopped a couple of rounds earlier when Wardley was staggering of his stool. I heard someone mention that it was almost as though Dubois didn't want to punch him by the end of it because Wardley was in such a bad way and I'm not sure I disagree - a man with the power of Dubois could have surely finished things off earlier.

Agree that Itauma still needs another fight or two before Dubois but if that fight is ever made it'll be fireworks.

Boxing

A new found respect for Dubois.

He doesn’t have the personality of a world heavyweight champion but I believe he’s learned how to stick it out in tough times.

I guess what’s a little sad is we know Dubois can’t and will never beat Usyk, so the mystique around him isn’t there.

Itauma is mandatory but we know they get swerved, however Dubois has no one else to fight. Wilder, Fury, the already beaten Joshua are now the previous. Wardley not on his level, only Itauma or Kabayel make sense…however, I feel both beat him.

Wardley is as unbelievable, how he ever got to world heavyweight champion shows that anything’s possible, but truly one of the toughest men alive either way.

There's talk of Usyk fighting Kabayel next after his little kickboxing adventure, so that might not be an option either. Respect to both of them for taking the toughest fights though, it's refreshing to see in an era of boxing where it took ten years to see AJ Fury come to fruition, and even that is far from certain yet.

Boxing

Great fight, first big fight I can remember attending where some assholes in the crowd haven’t had a fight… and betting on DDD KO paid for my whole weekend in Manchester. Few squeaky bum moments, but what a great weekend only ruined by the Brentford result

Boxing

erm, no one talking about the Usyk fight then....

Yes, he probably would have stopped him in round 12, yes the ref waved the fight off after 3 additional punches after the final bell, yes Rico deserved round 12....

Is Usyk finished or was he just out of shape and didn't take it seriously? Or would Rico Vohoven challenge all top heavyweights?

Bit of both I think, but Rico was winning that fight before the knockdown, that's undeniable.

As for Usyk v Kabayel.... is it the blockbuster now that it was? Not a chance, Usyk's legacy was damaged last night IMO and boxing looked stupid once again.
