Central Midfield

Please please sort this out ASAP Brentford. We need 2 CM's in for the start of pre-season badly. At the moment we're fooked in this position.

Are an central midfielders being linked with us?

Bish, setting up another username to start threads is a bit too obvious. :nono:

Poole although favouring his left foot actually played most of last season as a central midfield player.
I'm sure Brentford will be linked with many a playerin every position from now until the close of the transfer window.

Central Midfield

You could argue that with KOC as a holding midfielder, Poole as a more forward player and Mousinho as cover, we have a midfield already. I want to see wingers. :sorted:

God I hope that doesn't happen

I'd quite like to see O'Connor on the right of midfield for a couple of games, puts in a decent cross. Poole and Mousinho doesn't fill me with confidence.

I know nothing about Poole.

Have faith in Mr Butcher and Mr Scott and please do now try and calm down to a panic ! :sorted:

Central Midfield

It's a very nice town in Dorset, they have a speedway club, a very nice harbour/marina and they have their own pottery company !

Hope that helps ?

Goddit! A pottery company that keeps going broke... BFC... !

It's more of a historical thing. I can't remeber the last time I looked at Brentford and thought we've got a solid midfield. It would be nice to get this right now we've got the chance to build from scratch. As long as they're in for the first pre-season friendly I'll be relaxed. A Talbot like player in the middle would be great :sorted:

Although I'm not suggesting mad panic is the way forward I also don't believe in blind faith at the moment.

With all due respect, and no criticism on anyone personally, the same board (individually or collectively) appointed the last two managers, which turned out to be a disaster, that have appointed these two.

Personally I think Butcher and Scott will be good for Brentford but have no qualms with anyone who doesn't have the same faith based on past experience of the appointment process

By the same token the pair's judgement on transfers cannot be trusted yet as we have not seen the fruits of their work, again trust is based on blind faith.
Managers like Allen and Coppell earned the right to have their judgement trusted whereas Rosenior and, to some extent, Fitzgerald never did.

I don't subscribe to the mad impatient head-banging that seems to populate large areas of this board but I can certainly understand why the less rational Bees fan might be headed that way, as I said, based on past experience.

I can too, but most players any season have always been signed much nearer the season start than before the end of June. Why don't people just look at historical fact?
Have people also forgotten that a loan system exists, any of these signings tend to be literally just before Kick off?

I don't disagree and it'll only be this time next month when my blood pressure will start to rise.
I'm just saying that I wouldn't blame supporters for not having blind faith in what is happening based on the last 12 months.

Central Midfield

People may know otherwise, but I can't see Kev being at Bees this season -

He's been stripped of his captaincy, Frammo's gone (one of the only remaining players left from that core MA team) and he must want to be playing higher at the stage in his career. If Millwall have come in for Frampton then surely people must be looking at O'Connor.

I really hope he doesn't go, but wouldn't be surprised if he leaves for a league 1 club.

After enduring success under MA, then last years debacle....you have to ask yourself, why would he want to stay?

Completely nailed on. :imwith:

He may not want to, but how many league 1 clubs do you think will want him?
Afterall he's a converted full back from striker who is adequate at best, who can fill in midfield to a even lesser degree.
Is he really good enough for league 1 in any position?

It's that along with the fact that it's currently the weakest squad I can remember and we have a month to sign te spine of the team and get them ready.

Central Midfield

You have to ask yourself who wants to come to Brentford, a team with a low wage salary,in debt and playing in league 2?

I see lots of decent players moving elsewhere but none moving here.

Time and tide and all that.

How many to league 2 clubs?
We have signed 3 new players having released 8 or 9. Darlington have signed 6 or 7 having released 19!!!
If you look at squads all the way through the division there are just a few who have signed more than us and those are clubs like Darlington & Wycombe who have released many too.
Peterboro have signed a few also but mainly from non league, how do you knpow they are decent? Wycombe a couple from Scotland, ho do you know they are decent?
Time will tell I will worry if we still look the same this time next month.

Harbour by all accounts is the second biggest natural harbour in the world after Sydney

I still feel OK about this! I think (hope) we will have a decent squad come the start of the season! Infact im sure we will:thetruth:

How many points are at stake at the start of pre-season?

I'd rather we didn't stupidly panic about the result at Staines, but used pre-season properly to build the squad to be ready for the start of the real season.

Personally I really hope he does go. I'm not prepared to overlook the way he let us down last season, nor his wife's bleatings on the GPG.

Persoanlly i think we need another nitty gritty midfielder
someone like Newman / Talbot. Just clears things up and isnt afraid to get stuck in and to allow Poole to get forward.

Also defiantly need left and right winger.

I agree with you WEB until we start seeing results I think it's fair that all rational types will have some concern.

However ther has been mass panic and criticism of our lack of signings and we're not even at the end of June yet which IMHO is just scare mongering.

I will reserve judgement on the management team until thay have proved themselves but their appointment leaves me a lot more positive at the beginning of this season than this time last year, even given our dire finances and lower league status.

I also hope that not getting out of this league at the first time of asking will be not necessarily be deemed failure as long as things are improving both on and off the pitch.

KOC is the best right back in league 1  :fishing:

what about evans and mahon - they were ok...?

You are of course very right but personally I'm very happy with the choice this time round ! :sorted:

I'd rather we didn't stupidly panic about the result at Staines, but used pre-season properly to build the squad to be ready for the start of the real season.

I was thinking more about having a complete new team who can actually get to know each other with as many non important games as possible.

Central Midfield

Newman type of player.

Get stuck in and clear things up

we need a new man

not a newman

Mousinho performed better than Kev in Centre Mid last season.
So it's Mousinho/Poole for me, until the Butch gets someone else in...

Central Midfield

Yeah, Talbot was really good...:fishing:

what about evans and mahon - they were ok...?

We could only dream of having a Talbot like player this season in the middle.

Mahon and Evans was fantastic, but quite a while back now. Eddie was not the prettiest to watch!

And so am I.

But you and I have both met and spoken to the two people concerned, you more than me hopefully ;)

History can only lead to scepticism on this, which will hopefully make the success all the more sweet :bound:

Central Midfield

Yeah, Talbot was really good...:fishing:

Talbot was a key factor in us escaping relegation from nowhere in 2004 and almost going up in 2005, we were half the team when he wasn't playing during his spell at the club and him not being effectively replaced was part of the reason we didn't go up the following year.

If we had anyone half as good last year we wouldn't have finished bottom.

Central Midfield

Don't even joke about Osbourne being in team :nono: :nono: :nono:

lol

 :box: :box: :box: :box:

Karleigh is a year younger than Darius and will improve with hopely the Orient guy talking and organising and caring about the match.

As for Heywood, I refer you to his performances on the pitch and his £250 appearance bonus.;)

Central Midfield

They're both 19 and the age difference is four months

:spliitinghairssmillie:

4 mnths - 12mnths whats the difference?;) ;)

However at junior level he may play in a team a year younger than Darius.

You coming to my BBQ or not?
