He‘s got an underactive thyroid (I think) and I’m sure I read that he’d said he’d been scanned and there were no signs of dementia.

you get medication for underactive thyroid and as long as the dosage is right there shouldn't be any problems.

Seem to remember he was stretchered off in my first ever game, 1-1 against walsalll, last game of the season 1984, and perhaps even got a yellow card as it was happening. That might be my mind playing tricks though. Anyone remember more.clearly?

I’ve met Chris a few times and he’s a genuinely nice man, he was great for us back in the day and is no way anti bees at all. He was always so full of life and it must be a huge frustration for him that his speech is slowed by his condition. He was reporting on a game today on sky and he’s not his normal self. I hope very much that he recovers, he’s one of those guys that has such an infectious laugh, and you can see he’s struggling.

Met him a few years back on a corporate day at Ascot and he was great company, very likeable and decent lad who had time for everyone and very complimentary about all things Brentford.

I wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery

Yep sounded like he was struggling yesterday on GSS.

Love that he still has the enthusiasm and motivation to carry on going to places like Rotherham every week and report as excitedly usual, even if his speech can’t quite keep up.

This must be purgatory for Chris. His voice is his trademark and it is heart breaking to see him struggling. I read that he is having treatment to reverse his condition and I wish him all the best. Genuinely lovely guy.

Fully support what you say. I have just watched a podcast by Steven Bartlett of Dragons Den called Life of a CEO. He has made many of them with different people, the one I just watched was with CK. He explains that he is also experiencing imposter syndrome and seems all over the place. It's worth a watch if not a little concerning. I hope he comes good, such a great guy.

That was a really heartbreaking watch. To be renowned for his high-energy, machine-gun fire like match reports and now reduced to really struggling to get his words out. It's alarming how quickly this condition has affected him, even in the past year or so.

He is a great man. I really hope they can cure him.

And I also remember me saying on the GPG last year that he was drunk or something when he first struggled at a commentary.

And I’m ashamed of that.

Thank you, Chris, for the great memories in the early 80's playing alongside 'the Animal', Terry Hurlock, as well as the great Stan Bowles. It helped me through a difficult time. And for your great and, at times, as illustrated above, your often hilarious punditry. Absolutely not, in any way, a fraud.

Incredibly moving film and Kammy has nothing to feel a fraud about, a very genuine, honest and incredibly likeable man.

As mentioned before I shared a table with him at Ascot in corporate about 10 years ago and he was superb company and a total gentleman with time for everybody. Unlike some had implied he was very happy to talk about his time at Brentford and came across that he was still very fond of us and said he played more games for us than any other club in his career.
He talked about his time at Brentford and told stories about his time as a manager at Stoke as well.
I wish him well and hope a cure or some help available for him.

Saw him on ninja warriors earlier today, obviously struggling a little bit but great to see him still able to add some entertainment and get on with what he is good at.

Dont be ashamed mate,, nobody laughed and took the micky out of his mistakes more than his mates in the studio. If there was anything being done untoward against Kammy, Jeff would have nipped it in the bud.

Sorry to contradict one of my all time favourite Brentford players,but I am sure that Terry Rowe was our first black player.

I definitely remember Rowe playing before Kamara, but like WP said probably friendlies. I thought he may have played in the League Cup games.

Definitely didn’t play in any league cup matches during 1980/81 or 1981/82.

My second ever away game was at Oxford United where we completely stole a two one win with a brace from Gary Johnson. November 81 from memory without looking it up. Kammy was probably playing that day and Keith Cassells turned out for Oxford too.

Terry Rowe and Andy Gray were, I believe, the first two in the youth set up. Followed by Michael Witter and Andy Romano.

I’m sure there is a player from the 1950’s who was of BAME heritage who played youth or reserve matches.

Before those later players, named above, it’s just Fred Corbett who was of BAME heritage. A derogatory term was used as a nickname for him during his career too.

Several other players were born in, for example, India (Fred Rouse and Hugh Dolby to name two) but, to my knowledge, no mention of Indian heritage….that I can find so far. However I’ve not ruled them out.

A couple of players were also born in Trinidad, one died during WW1, but these are very difficult to research, especially their heritage backgrounds, beyond what is available online here.

What about Paul Smith, who scored in a 2-1 win over Blackpool, in 1987?
Wikipedia says he played 17 times for us. ?‍♂️

Now a long list of BAME players who have given great service to the club. Let us hope one of them scores the winning goal at Forest.
