Not helped by others who condone it - eg on previous threads where they've used all sorts of excuses like "It's only a plastic bottle or lighter etc", or "Their player provoked it", or "It missed anyhow" etc.

why not make gp a cash free ground, stewards search fans going in, make it clear coins are not permitted and have all vendors take card only

The way this is presented makes it appear that action is being taken only because the FA has written to the club, presumably following reports by match officials. If the club could have responded to the FA by saying that they were already well aware of the issue, and had identified and sanctioned offenders, they would be in a much stronger position. It's hard to believe that no one could have been identified already by either CCTV or stewards.

It's not rocket science to have 2 or 3 cameras set up in the direction of the alleged coin throwing area at every home match to identify those throwing coins/objects , and regardless of any court case outcome they should be given a club lifetime ban, with no appeal, we have to rid the club of these few Neanderthal brain dead idiots, we do not need people like this at our club.

Nope, it wasn't. And a lifetime ban? As in, one stupid action stopping you from ever seeing your club again? Likely ending a few friendships and depriving someone of a social circle they've been in for years? Come on, let's keep some perspective.

Should be no need for the club to install cctv or is it the stewards fault. There should be no reason to throw things on the pitch end of.

This wouldn't help in our bid to keep terracing at GP whichever division we're in.

I don't get the mentality myself, if I was annoyed at a player scoring or antagonising the crowd I wouldn't think to throw something at them. I wouldn't do it elsewhere in society I wouldn't do it at a football match!

Well said although I can think of a few Board Meetings I've been in when I would have quite liked to have done so! Would have got sacked though - equates to a lifetime ban!

Anyhow, you ask whether they should be stopped from ever seeing the Bees again.

There would be nothing to stop them going down to their local boozer and watching it on Sky.

Then see how far chucking things at the screen gets them!

Football simply doesn't need people who can't/won't behave, and it's hardly a "Human Right" to be able to go to football matches.

Yes but a lifetime ban is over the top. People have done far worse and only got a 3 year ban

Imagine if it was you who, years and years ago, had been an idiot and chucked a coin in the vague direction of some opposition player and then got a lifetime ban. People, especially young people, do stupid things. You're advocating that they carry on paying for, let's face it, hardly a massive crime, until they're well into their 80s, arthritic and with a great-grandchild on the way.

It's ridiculous.

I remember a game when Millwall were playing us. A number of Millwall fans were throwing coins and one hit a lady in the New Road. Blood was pouring from an area just above her eye, an inch or so lower who knows ?
If I recall it was her first game at GP, persuaded by her daughter.

Throwing coins has potential to cause severe injury, blindness in particular. Make the deterrent harsh providing the evidence is conclusive.

Yes lifetime ban thanks. They can ask for a parole hearing after five years or when they've grown up (which ever is later). Hanging's too good for 'em!

Have to say I agree with the Tobester...yes needs to be stopped and yes a lifetime ban is probably a bit harsh...how about providing a plastic set of darts and a board at the back of ER for fans who like to chuck things? Or maybe a craft table with some paper aeroplane stuff?

I think I can quite categorically say I've never done anything at a football match to risk harming another human being, whether it be a fan, official or player. (well, apart from the odd occassional silent but violent). I admire your youthful exuberance at times but don't even think about trying to defend throwing coins.

How would you feel if someone threw a coin at you ? Maybe that coin cut you, how would you feel ? Maybe that coin blinded you, how would you feel ?

They've obviously caught no one yet but announce it over the tannoy, on the website, put it in the programme and say if caught you're getting a lifetime ban and there's no excuse then is there. To be honest, what sort of a moron throws coins or missiles or lets the culprit off or even justifies something like that. Just my opinion like.

I dont think Tobes was defending the act...rather that a lifetime ban seemed a bit harsh as a punishment.

Yes, I didn't word that too well. Wasn't trying to imply he was defending it so apologies if taken that way but I still think he belittles the seriousness. Yes, we all do things that are wrong but there are boundaries surely ?

toby, looks like you are on the wrong side of GPG opinion here. It's going against you. Best to help the criminals mend their ways before they commit another crime.

With the consquence of a lifetime ban hopefully these inDUHviduals will modify their behaviour, otherwise they're pretty much incapale of rational thought.

I agree with the idea of a deterrent, but a lifetime ban just seems a bit ridiculous. It's not giving them a chance to modify their behaviour, as they'll never go again.
