I think most of us are agreed that if we do not win on Saturday against Orient then we are as good as down.

I know that the past 4 months have been hugely depressing and frustrating, that we're all fearful for the way that our club is heading, and that at times that boils over and we lash out at the players, but it's crunch time and now more than ever Fitz and the players need our full support.

We can still stay up! It's a tall order but miraculously we're still in with a shout despite our terrible run of form. It just goes to show what a poor league this is and with a couple of wins we're right back up there.

So please, everyone, whether you're in Brook, Braemar or New Road, let's sing our hearts out for the lads, get them fired up, show them nothing but our support and keep going from the moment they run out onto the pitch until the final whistle blows.

Bees fans have always proved that when we're up against it and all seems lost, no matter what, we can always find the little bit extra to get behind our team. Think of Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea at Griffin Park over the past few seasons. The crowd will not be as big as those games on Saturday, but we can sing twice as loud to make up for that.

Let's get behind the boys and let's get ourselves out of this mess.

I went yesterday and saw enough from Scott's new signings and 5 of the other 8 starters to suggest we will stay up.
First of all it is generally considered in football circles that 51 points is the magic marker for survival and we have 21 leaving 30 to find in our remaining 19 games.
If Fitz can sign a targetman for Kuffour to play off then these games are winable:
Home
Orient, Carlisle, Brighton, Northampton, Rotherham, Cheltenham and Port Vale so thats another 21 points.

Away from home we need to pick up a point at least at Yeovil, Blackpool, Huddersfield and Bradford.

Leaving us five points to pick up from home games against Scunthorpe, Oldham and Forest and
Away games at
Bristol City, Gillingham, Crewe, Doncaster and Tranmere.

I believe we have set a marker for home performances now with the 2 - 1 over Chesterfield and cant see us being beaten at home before the arrival of Scunthorpe. If this turns out to be the case it will give everyone a lift away from home as well and as long as I can see an escape route I for one will keep believing that we will avoid the drop!

Agree with that..........If there is still hope I can deffo see something coming from Crewe and I would dearly love us to get a result at Gillingham to get them back for the way they cheated us at at GP and for Jupp to get his come uppance would put the icing on it for me

Joe Keith signed last week from Orient.............left midfielder...........played well at Bournemouth and should've scored................... also some good crosses and good wing play....................!

a centre forward and another centre midfielder. plus a keeper if Abbey gets suspended.

can't see where the 30 odd points are going to come from mind you............ i'd love to see this side do it and prove us supporters wrong re. being the worst side to represent Brentford FC ever!

You beat me to it with this reply. I thought Joe Keith had an excellent game. I agree with Royal Oak Bee's comment re the loan signings and yesterday's performance, but alas don't share his optimism. Getting a decent striker in is a crucial, but let's not also forget how poor our defence was at times yesterday - I really can't see us keeping many clean sheets. At least I'm encouraged by the fact that Scott has identified the weaknesses (probably not that difficult!!) and brought in good players.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it is the players who need to get motivated. These bunch of no marks have prooved at countless home games they don`t care.

Calm down Ace, Brentford are the biggest club in Middlesex and Barnet are in Hertfordshire so Orient will always be the lowest club in London - unless those nice boys from Millwall go down.

I don't think you need to worry mate. Not sure if you were at the last two games. At Muff we gave them a standing ovation at the end just for their commitment. The crowd vs Chesterfield was tiny and made the noise of double their number, even through a tsunami like downpour. As Fitz said in his interview with Radio London last night, Brentford fans never cease to amaze him, lost a match, 8 away defeats without scoring, bottom of the table - but as long as we see the team fight we get behind them. I expect nothing less from the players or ourselves on Saturday.

We must get something out of the match on saturday otherwise we are doomed to go down to the basement. Don't get me wrong, I won't stop supporting my club and was there when we beat Cambridge 1-0 to get us back into League One not that long ago.

However, the players are now playing with passion and pride and SF seems to have a good eye for getting in decent players who have brought "something" into the squad which can "hopefully" save us. However, our position is purely financial and we desperately need someone to "help" us.

However, I will be there to show my full support on saturday - come on you reds!!!

My opinion is that we as fans are as much a part of this great club, more in fact, than anyone else associated with it. We therefore, I think, have a responsibility to do everything we can to help Fitz and the 11 men who take to that pitch on Saturday.

The £30,000 or so raised through the Fighting Chance Appeal is a mark of the incredible passion we have for our club, now let's carry that on to Saturday, and every game from now until the end of this season.

The old adage that the crowd can be the 12th man is wholly true, so let's turn up in droves on Saturday and really get behind them. Let's put aside all our grievances about the board, the players etc, if only for a while, and just cheer our boys on.

At the end of the season, if we as fans can say to ourselves "win lose or draw, we did our bit", then as fans we have fulfilled our obligation.

I think some people have missed the point of this thread, whilst others have got it spot on.

This Saturday against Orient is probably the most crucial game of the season. We need to win. It's as simple as that. Streetboy's right, a draw just isn't enough.

As Fitz keeps saying, and as many managers before him have said, Bees fans are unique, right up there with the best. We may have seen our team go on the worst run of form in our history recently, but that never stops us from getting behind the club that we all love.

At times it's not going to be pretty, but the team that Fitz is assembling is slowly proving itself and we still have a chance of staying up this season. Who knows how many points we'll need to stay up, we may only need 45, we may need 52, but fail to win against Orient it's as good as over. So lets get behind the boys, show them how much we care and love the club, and I know the players will respond. I know we've done it many times before, but this is all about Saturday now.

For 90+ minutes from 3pm on Saturday, forget everything that's gone before. Forget everything off the pitch, whether you disapprove of BU, the board, the manager, the players, let's all pull together as one, as proud Bees fans, and create the kind of atmosphere that the team will raise their game to.

I think this is the key to the rest of the season... Everyone knows we need a striker, but the simple fact is if you let in at least one goal a game you're not going to win many. We're averaging around 2 a game under Fitz alone..

Until we stop leaking goals we're going to stay where we are. By the sound of things at Bournemouth, despite playing well going forward, muff should have probably scored 2 or 3.. Better teams won't let us off like that..

I would have thought that the one thing Fitz would have brought to the table would be an organised back four, but that doesnt seem to have happened yet..

However you look at it, it's hard to be optimistic

If 51 points is the target (and that might not be enough) we have to double our points per game so far. In the first 27 games, we've got 21 pts or around 0.78 pts per game. 30 pts from the last 19 means 1.58 per game, the equivalent of a 73 pts season. Can we improve that much?

To get 30 we need to win more than we lose (10-0-9; 9-3-7; 8-6-5 etc), which is again very optimistic.

I think 10-1 against staying up would be a fair estimate - it's not impossible, but it's hard to imagine.

But we've got to keep going and, at the least, look for some signs for possible optimism next season

Was watching a footie match the other day and heard the "distinguishing" sound of some rattles!! Add those to the scarf wavers around the wrists, the bog roll being thrown onto the pitch, the torn up bits of paper and the best footie chants ever to be heard at GP, we are on for a carnival !!!

Has anyone considered the fact that the three new players only had a day or so to get to know the team and fit their style in to suit. Now they have had another week to settle in, that the apparant improvement they made overall on Sat to the team will be moreso this week and if Scottie can get another player or two this early this week,then this Sat may be the start of the Great Escape all over again. At least give them all a try
