Watford fan's view;

I think Dale Bennett will do well.

He started his league career really well at centre half.

After he scored a silly own goal, he lost confidence, but he definitely has the ability to be a top defender.

Surprised he is being loaned out as Martin Taylor has a collarbone injury.


Wondering if he can play in the FA Cup 1st round game then????

Maybe just needs to improve ability on the ball.

Not the tallest for a centre half then. So will Rosler start him on Saturday? and if he does I suppose he'd pair him with Llera as Eger and Dale would be quite a short CB pairing.

Anyway enough of this speculation, welcome aboard the listing ship known as HMS Brentford (well it's not really listing just sprung a couple of leaks lately). Hope you brought your bucket and water wings and don't pay too much attention to the inmates around here, by and large they are quite a critical lot but they mean well (for the most part) ;)

My Watford supporting work colleague says :

"Whenever I've seen him he's been okay. Quite quick but looked like he needed an experienced head along side him. Not seen much of him recently as he's slipped down the pecking order but with Martin Taylor out injured I'm surprised we've let him go out. I think he will do alright for you as he probably needed games".

My Watford supporting mate hasn't spoken to me for years
But I imagine he would say - Good prospect, needs some games to prove himself - could be one for the future, untested on a regular basis, may do well in league 1, he's a defender, he's fairly tall, decent in the air, doesn't score much, likes the dugouts to be on his right hand side when attacking Ealing Road, a big fan of onions, etc, etc

I am of the opinion if the keeper comes and calls it get out of the way.

What my mate has seen of him (yes I have a Watford mate too) and who has seen of Karleigh he is of the opinion that they are similar players.

Funny really, Andy Scott used to like collecting right wingers, Rosler on the other has a liking for defenders, especially centre backs.......;)

Ankle ligament, so it will be weeks rather than days. I'd expect that Bennett will start with Llera, keeping Eger on the bench and Saturday.

We absolutely needed someone as Karleigh decided to crock himself with an awful first touch. If Uwe reacted quickly within 1 day to get a replacement why has he not reacted quickly, as in over 3 months to get a forward in. Obviously proves he doesn't feel we need one so for that reason I will be at the cinema on Saturday if anyone needs me.

I very much doubt that. Eger has been very good the last two games I have seen him, I cant see us not starting with him now.

My Watford Supporting mate, said he'd never heard of him, but then admitted he last saw a game when George Reilly was their centre forward! So not written off here! :sorted:

Not as easy to get a decent centre forward in.

Hope Bennett plays on sat, he won't be any worse than the other fit centre backs we have available and Llera/Eger as a partnership is asking for trouble in my opinion.

That is simply not true.

Until the January window opens the only option for a striker is the loan market and at todays board meeting Uwe discussed some options and advised on the contacts that have been made.

How come that as soon as a defender is injured we get a loan within hours .Alexander has been injured for years ,we eventually sign Clarkson on loan and Uwe decides he's not good enough . Is there a secret loanee that we're still working on the deal for ?

Well we obviously need cover there so seems an ok signing. I'm confused though that when we need a defender we can just go and get one on loan no bother. Thompson, Llera, Adams now Bennett. But when we need a striker........like NOW we don't seem to have any urgency. Has Uwe got a touch of the Arsene Wengers when it comes to signing strikers, ie won't make a decision as he is waiting for something that probably doesnt exist. Weird and more than a bit frustrating too.
