Dango Ouattara

Dango Ouattara

He signed new contract with release clause, so depends on price in clause
Whilst I would never dare to speak on behalf of another member, I’m fairly confident the point being made is that, with 6 in 9 games so far, if we’re wanting north of £40m for Igor in the near future with similar stats, which you bet our life we would, there’s no way on Gods gods Green earth, Semenyo will go for less than £42m

He won’t but he’s still got a release clause that might well be a lot less than they could get for him and in time DO might be worth more than that clause. Time will tell

Dango Ouattara

Every club has similar stories, often referred to as ‘ones that got away’. Your face fits, or it doesn’t. The time is right, or it isn’t, pathways blocked, or not. Just be grateful that we’ve found him, and so far, he’s happy to be here, and vice versa.

Dango Ouattara

Thought he was quite quiet at times but you can’t switch off defending against him as he gets it and suddenly comes alive, was always going to be a long day for Burn. His defensive work is handy too!

Dango Ouattara

Absolute menace for defenders. Maybe needs to cut the theatrics a bit (or at least make them more convincing). Waving an imaginary card when you’re already booked is pretty dumb, luckily Collins spotted it before the ref did.
Whilst he was unfortunate with the booking he could very easily have been sent off for more of the same when we got the pen if the ref had seen the incident accurately

Dango Ouattara

How does the way you fall determine whether you've been fouled! He clearly kicked his foot and wouldn't have been overturned had the pen been given surely

And the original decision for the first SHOULD have been overturned by VAR as it was a clear penalty.

He probably just needs to turn down the level of salmon-impression when he goes down as it doesn't really help.

Dango Ouattara

No, the useless VAR cost us that penalty.
Maybe Atwell told VAR there was minimal contact and VAR agreed. If he'd said no contact, it might been referred.

Dango Ouattara

Presumably the yellow card can be appealed or is simulation still a thing if there was contact. He was poor yesterday but loved Dan Burns reaction to both incidents helping Dango to his feet rather than bawling cheat at him and accepting he red card with a shrug. Agree Dango needs to tone down the theatrics.

Dango Ouattara

If that's the case, then we should be seeing at least 10 bookings per game!
Anyway, the "minimal contact" thing is a joke as there was clearly more than that in the first penalty incident.

You can't appeal a Yellow Card

Did Dango play yesterday vs Niger? Can't find anything anywhere.

I’m not 100% convinced on Dango…yet.
He will be taking time to adapt to us, but compared to a reel I watched of his Bournemouth highlights (where he looked like a JDS on speed) he seems a bit raw, and needs to stop falling over so easily.

Needs more time, and will be given it.

Hackett reckons DO is a diver....

He does go down too easily IMHO. If her gets a reputation for it then his card will be marked!
WTF is that article? The 1st penalty at Brighton was one of the most stonewall penalties I've ever seen. Hackett needs to go to Specsavers if he thinks that's a judgement call.

It’s difficult.

How many times have we seen players stay on their feet, and in retrospect you think perhaps he was too honest. You’re not rewarding for it.

A lot of the top players, Salah included, have had the diver card thrown at them. The level of contact at which a player should go down will never be agreed.

Having said that, there have been one or two times Dango has gone down and I’ve thought, if you were the opposition……

Dango Ouattara

I'm wondering what the former referee expected him to do on Saturday. Jump over the player and not get a penalty? Maybe he should lend his advice to the Brighton head coach on how to avoid players giving away penalties. Not missing sliding tackles on wet surfaces would seem a good place to start.

Dango Ouattara

I don’t think there is any reasonable debate, he very much is a diver!!
What? At least our fans can kick back against the creation of a narrative that means the guy never gets a penalty. He is the same as any quick winger, always vulnerable to a nudge or the usual defender leg push

Dango Ouattara

Not having it.

Newcastle and Brighton all instances involving him were stonewall.

I think he’s going to be a great player, but I’m firmly in the @BuzzingBee95 camp, I’d be furious if he was playing against us as he goes down at the slightest touch. He clearly is going to get a reputation and it’ll cost us eventually, but for now I’ll just enjoy the penalties.

Dango looks mustard. Fast, drifts through players and works his socks off defensively too. Very direct, so different to Mbeumo. Defenders are sh*t scared of him too. Definitely a bit raw but we couldn't afford the finish article. Dango has been fouled on every occasion so far, or at the very least, had a coming together with another player at high speed. He hasn't made a ridiculous dive to date.

Utter blx! Even the one (Liverpool) where he got booked for simulation was later determined to be a penalty.

It’s that he is travelling at speed that makes it look quite theatrical, plus he doesn’t do anything to reduce his momentum once caught, probably just to minimise potential injuries caused by not rolling.

At school, 60ish years ago, we had a real speedster on the wing. If he was at full speed and got touched, he was totally off balance and down like it was the floor exercises in gymnastics. Quite often, I was close to this as his fullback, trailing along and getting him upright again after.

So you do not think he goes down to easily???

No. He makes the most of any contact but this is distinct to deciding whether he was fouled.

He was fouled against Newcastle and wrongly cautioned and he was fouled against BHA.

Dango Ouattara

He does hugely over emphasise fouls.
Nobody can deny it.
I am uncomfortable about it, but it’s part of the game now.

Dango Ouattara

So, to show he is a good sport, he is supposed to jump over the player here is he, despite the player's massively mistimed challenge preventing any chance of him getting to the ball?
