Dango Ouattara

Dango Ouattara

A good watch once you switch the audio to default! Trust Youtube to assume everyone talks like a smarmy American selling you a subscription to something.

Seems chilled and happy here! Likes his teammates and the environment we have.

Dango Ouattara

Yeah, it was dubbed into American when I watched it, but you can change the settings to get the original French. (NB - do Americans call training, "science"?)
Mistranslation - he actually says séance (= session). If you're going to dub it, at least translate it properly.

Dango Ouattara

Inconsistent for sure. He’s had some good games, today certainly wasn’t one of them. Decision making at times was baffling and he simply has to bury that chance in the 1st half. Lost the ball so easily. Will need to show more than that if he wants to keep his place in the pecking order. Would’ve preferred Nelson off the bench against a low block

Dango Ouattara

I’ve been critical of Dango since his arrival, but I think anyone trying to suggest his performance was the issue today is mistaken, I’m not one to say it, but even a touch or scapegoating.

when Bryan left, without a winger coming through, the hierarchy clearly felt we needed someone with existing Prem experience and have the money to do it. Had we had a young player coming through, perhaps a bit like Donovan now, I do think it’s fair to question whether he’d be there at that price. But he is, he’s got flair, his best is yet to come 🤞, so let’s get behind him

Dango Ouattara

He's rather poor overall, offers very little threat and is wasteful in good situations. A great pity he is preferred to the hugely talented Romelle Donovan.

Dango Ouattara

Ridiculous for our own fans to be bringing up a reported transfer fee because he was sub-par off the bench.

Was looking very good and very effective before he went to AFCON, he’s just working his way back into the side now. Doubt he was expected to play so many minutes today.

Missed the 1v1 but got in behind them, great pace and movement. Relax.

Dango Ouattara

The swing on this place is comical! He’s a decent player but needs space in behind and today wasn’t that day, which is probably why he didn’t start. Them scoring first and his early introduction exacerbated that.

Yes. It's a disgrace to be honest.

Dango Ouattara

If he is not making the runs to get in the position for the 121 is when you need to worry. Made quite a few crosses and was reasonably involved, was on the pitch when we looked liveliest in the 1st half. Definitely room for improvement though.

I thought he was poor before going to AFCON tbh, didn't look in form to me. He doesn't look confident but has a lot of potential, which is what we paid for.

I'm starting KLP ahead of him v Villa but I might be in the minority there.

Agreed re transfer fee, it's completely irrelevant and says' nothing about him.... just where prices are in modern Football.

Dango Ouattara

Still looking a bit ‘raw’ for me… compared to some of his previous Muff displays…

But with time sure he’ll become a more consistent threat and bag some goals.

Dango Ouattara

A one-on-one and a free header in front of goal. 0.9 xG from those two chances alone. Surely we've been following Benham's Brentford long enough to know the drill!

Dango Ouattara

The keeper closed him down really quickly. He couldn’t go round him given that and covering defenders. Probably a dink would have been the best option.

Dango Ouattara

Wasn't particularly poor or good - the way Forest were set up stopped the through balls in behind the full backs especially in the second half.

Saying that he should be scoring one of the 2 chances he had which is disappointing.

Dango Ouattara

Some people saying he was good before AFCON. I actually thought he was really poor in that period and struggling with the basics, always giving the ball away. It seems clear to me that he would be far more effective off the bench as second striker in the Schade role of our 4-2-2-2 than out on the wing. In general Schade and dango both fast and effective in behind but not super technical and when you have them both on attacks break down. We need an alternative to dams when players tire but sadly this alternatives have major injuries

Dango Ouattara

Thought he looked lively when he came on and was a real threat. He seems very two footed which is handy.

Dango Ouattara

He doesn't seem great value for £40M at the moment ✅

I quite like watching him but he's a bit part player for now. We could really use a bit more output from him.

Dango Ouattara

Behind only kev and Igor for goals with 3, would be out assist leader if pens won counted with 4, not all bad. Been a good outlet with his pace as well. System tweaks while he was away at Afcon will have us playing in a rhythm that doesn't suit him so well probably, might need a couple of starts to get back in the groove. Not worried personally.

Dango Ouattara

One could say a £40m raw talent.
I would definitely prefer undercooked.

Dango Ouattara

Very much a work in progress. Capable of moments of genius mixed in with a heap of "oh Dango FFS". Missing the one-on -one yesterday was in the latter camp. Likes space and running in behind - both of which Forest denied us yesterday.
40 million in todays market buys you promise not the finished article.

Agreed. The FFS moments are much like Bryan repeatedly hitting the woodwork in the early PL days. PG said quite clearly that Dango was a couple of years behind Bryan in terms of development but no reason to think he couldn’t achieve those levels.

If he hasn’t kicked on by the end of next season then it might be time to discuss whether it was money well spent.

Dango Ouattara

Oscar Wilde gave us the definition of a cynic…

Dango Ouattara

Lots of good and lots of inconsistencies like Mbeumo as has been said. Lots to work with and I think he’ll improve.

Dango Ouattara

A few highlights aside, how many of those did you actually see?
True, and I based my views on highlights of him on YouTube! I thought ‘wow’ this guy could be the real deal, looked like a JDS on steroids, 2 footed, quick, attacking…
But so far I haven’t seen enough consistency from him to form a valid opinion of him.
He’s a very expensive risk, I’m sure he will start to show his high levels on a more consistent basis given time etc.
But on the flip side, part of me expects him to be showing he’s the real deal a bit quicker.
We’ve made several 20ish million pound signings over the last few seasons that clearly have been bought for the future.
We’ll see, but our chiefs don’t get many of these decisions wrong.

"Bobb is a graduate of Manchester City's academy and made 61 appearances for the senior side, scoring 13 and assisting 27 across all competitions." BBC

Given the above, and reported £22m fee, it seems as if we possibly paid top $ for Dango .

Hopefully he will fully prove his worth soon.

Bobb is widely reported as a £27m transfer for what it's worth.
I think Fulham have got a good deal for a good player, but he may be on a lot higher wages having been a first teamer at Man City. I'm not sure a different player moving in a different window makes Dango's transfer worse value anyway.

I think their challenge will be to train out of him Pep’s style of play and into the sort of player that Silva wants him to be.

We’ve got that challenge with Ouattara in that he was used by AFCB as a utility player and back-up to Semenyo but we’re asking him to play a specific role, either wide or narrow.
