I assume the :fishing: was accidently left of here? Pope is a good keeper but doesn't have the ball playing skills of David and as we saw when he was out - that's a vital part of our team.

I've seen a couple of posts on here saying that Alvaro is a better shot stopper than Raya. These stats suggest otherwise:

You may well be right, however, wheher we sell him or not I could never see us starting a season with either those two in goal. Therefore I do not see them departing as an indication.

If I recall correctly, Raya has a better save percentage but Alvaro still has a similar or getter xGA, expected goals allowed. In other words, safe percentage lower but faced greater shot quality. Which makes sense considering how many players were missing while he was in net. Additionally though, Raya’s style leads to fewer shots, I think. Takes the ball more and attacks aggressively to help shut the other team off before they are able to take a shot, especially in situations like corners.

I don't know. You wouldn't have expected the whole defence to go completely to pieces because he was out would you?

That is correct. It is worth noting though that own goals don’t count so Alvaro’s mistake against Soton doesn’t count against him in the stats.

That table also suggests Leeds need to sort their back 4 out. Here's hoping they don't

Why not just admit you were wrong then? He saves plenty of other efforts against him.

Actually, yes. He is such a commanding presence, when coming for crosses, it instils confidence in the defence. Alvaro was far more hesitant, which makes the, leaving the defence wondering "will he or won't he?".

Raya is not a massive imposing goalkeeper. In most cases he doesn’t need to be but when facing penalties it would help.

Would I rather have Tim Krul? No chance.

If he does not sign an extension he will be sold this summer, as I believe that he will be a free agent summer 2023 and the club will not wish to lose a fee of the size that he will command. Although I seem to recall TF saying that he expected him to sign a new contract.
