His gathering crosses is immense and he wants to own the area. He has done reflex stuff and he is an upgrade. I also like the way he expects us fans to do our bit. That a sign of a team player.

Apart from all the aforementioned attributes, for me the biggest improvement is his decision making. He is always looking to play the ball out so we have possession, but he is a much better judge of when the opposing press is such that it make sense to go long.

I like what I've seen so far, but hard to judge when he's had so few shots to save. In the 4 games I've seen, he's conceded 3 (none that he could have saved) and saved probably 2 or 3 that were on target

Looks the business speeds our play up and also knows when to go short or long with the ball great signing

Great keeper, stunning saves but I don't remember taking crosses quite like Raya and that's what we're talking about. Didn't he tend to punch anyway?

Paul Smith and Simon Moore were very good young keepers for our level who didnt remain with us to develop further. Both subsequently played at this level and are in the mix for me, particularly if they were given current infastructure.

Raya looks good so far though. Just joining in the conversation

Paul Smith was exceptionally good. I think that he, and BFC got stitched up by Southampton somewhere along the way. He was brilliant when he returned to GP for Southend too.

Indeed, strange because if i remember rightly he made his debut against arsenal and had a mom performance and then just seemed to get screwed from there on in

I think it was perhaps the best performance by an opposition keeper at GP that I have ever seen. He was brilliant at many aspects of being a keeper but dealing with crosses and dominating his box were not part of them.

Agree with all of that. He looked unbeatable that night.

Raya has certainly looked very assured on crosses. We know he's got a ricket in him given this mistake that led to Watkins second against Blackburn last year but so far so good. TBH on the defence has looked so solid it's almost impossible to make a judgement at the moment. His distribution has certainly been a step up from Bentley.

Surely Brentford can't be looking at Raya. He makes as many mistakes as Bentley and we know how many points that cost us last season. .

Even when we had no money and tiny squads we more often than not had decent keepers.

Raya has been very impressive........................ We did say the same about DB though ;)

Paul Smith was class btw and was unlucky at Saints.

Yes, either that performance or one of Frank Fielding's games for Brizzle City where he seemed to stop everything that we threw at him.

It's clear that the other players are very confident in his ability on the ball. Something which wasn't so evident with Bentley. He's also a lot more decisive on crosses. Looks like a great signing to me so far..

Positioning is excellent and v good on the ball. Couldn’t understand why we had Jeanvier in the box for goal kicks as Raya’s probably the better passer

I think it's designed to draw the opposition forward, and create space between and behind them.

I agree , I was waiting for the crap ref to point to the spot for a Stoke penalty( it would have been if Bentley was in goal) I have watched and enjoyed his quickness in his ball release

Raya has been a real positive so far this season - the best of our Summer signings. The save today was world class. Handling and positioning have been very good.

Agree. But the 'best of the Summer signings' competition is not as hotly contested as most of us would have liked.

Easily man of the match, probably was before ‘that save’ too. The only one that was starting attacks quickly and played with the level of focus and confidence required.

He’s absolutely at the right club for his development, the way we play gets the most out of him.

Very good apart from one silly moment when he rushed out... good intention.. bad execution.. probably signing of the season imo

I think Sergi is what he is. I can't ever seeing him being any different which will probably hold him back from playing at the highest level but he's just fine for me.
