I just love the way he races off his line to smother the ball like a puppy!

David Raya

Just fills me with confidence. Thought Bentley was a really good keeper (until he lost confidence) but Raya is different level.

And, more importantly, he fills the back four with confidence.

David Raya

TF = Gary Owers LJ = Paul Evans :fishing:

Yes I know in the real world TF has way too much class for that

David Raya

David ran to the Bees supporters on his own after the Bristol City match as if he was personally pleased to contribute a big fat zero in the debit column following his error away to Millwall. Top bloke, top goalkeeper giving his all for the team. Well done sir.

I think he's down for an assist too!

David Raya

Although the game was not in play, that control from a Benrahma hoof from the halfway line...wow

David Raya

Wtf was he doing early on though, trying to dribble around with it in our own box under pressure. Nearly gave a goal away.

..................he knew what he was doing ,no need to panic, all under control.................

er, no it wasn't. Look again. QPR player failed to capitalise thankfully. Still love our keeper though.

Bit of a miscontrol which in the end became an unintended step over cunning enough to outwit the QPR player and give him time to recover and make the pass out. Hopefully he won’t be quite so blase again!

Well if you are going to have a howler, do it in a game that you end up winning 5-1. The great thing with Raya is he makes the odd mistake but he doesn't let it effect him and he moves on from it quickly. He doesn't appear to let it dent his confidence which is great and probably was what Bentley struggled with most.

David Raya

.............oh dear............

Useless Spaniard. Does he know that goalkeepers can use their hands? :banghead:

Costing us points...... oh, hang on..... maybe not. :D

David Raya

Horrible mistake.. but he bounced back well in 2nd half and continued with quick distribution..

Yeah - I was really impressed with the way he reacted. Trusted himself to carry on playing his own game.

David Raya

It was a stupid mistake ... but it's not the dropping a simple catch type mistake that Bentley was prone to.

David Raya

He has brilliant feet, but shows a little too much confidence in them sometimes. He’s the last stop in Hounslow. More great saves today though and I thought it should be regarded as a very slow motion nutmeg rather than an own goal, which seems to be how it’s recorded. Perhaps BFC should complain through Thomas.

David Raya

We will give Tafferelli his goal if they give Ollie our second. Fair swap.

David Raya

Horrible mistake but it was not an own goal. You can't score a goal unless you touch the ball and it went straight through his legs. The Hull player will be telling his grandchildren about the day he nutmegged the opposing keeper from the half-way line!

I would suggest it touched him last as the ball slowed significantly. Although with a keeper that could be the same as getting a hand on it but still going in?

It was not deflected into the net though. It was on target already. Did anybody say Forests goal on Tuesday was an og, even though it was deflected. Definitely a nutmeg.

When in fact it was a forward pass to no one in particular.

David Raya

TBH I still trust him and the support the fans gave him along with the players was out of this world. It shows the faith the team have in him is incredible and also the travelling fans.

David Raya

He'll never forget doing that. Ever. However, at least it didn't cost us and Raya might think more about using his hands in the future. It's not like the ball even bobbled - he just took his eye off it for a fraction of a second. One of those things and it's happened to plenty of other keepers. It's a good reminder that players have to keep their concentration throughout and once we went 2-0 up, we did start to appear that the cigars had come out - something that's happened a couple of times before in games this season.

David Raya

Will get a huge reception from Ealing Rd on Saturday, and it will be fully deserved.

David Raya

The odd howler goes with the territory. Every now and again this will happen. Best keeper we have had since Chesney.

as stated elsewhere, he clearly touched it.

the only other analysis needed is "thank god it was in a game where we score five". these things happen, he doesn't need "coaching" to fix it, he'll know what he needs to do(!!), and he's been bloody excellent otherwise. so just thank god it wasn't in a tight crucial match...

David Raya

Just pick the bloody thing up.

Glad it didn’t mean anything and he recovered well to deal with the few things that came his way.

He always plays it so will not be picking it up anytime soon. That's how we play, can live with the rare mistake, but it will happen now and again.

David Raya

Got that rick out of the way in a game we were comfortable in. Well planned

David Raya

That was key.... good keepers don't let mistakes worry them and they just get on with the job. His footwork and distribution was very good for the rest of the match.

David Raya

If any outfield player made the same mistake, 9 times out of 10 he can recover from it, or there’s someone else covering him. If this incident, missing the ball, happened to any other player during a match, it wouldn’t receive any notice whatsoever.

Goalkeepers’ mistakes are often fatal. If they make a simple error, the ball can be in the back of the net a few seconds later.

All credit to Raya for getting on with the game, for not changing his style, and for not losing his confidence.

Plus his team mates supported him, and got on with demolishing Hull, and not letting it affect them.

We all know he’s the best keeper we’ve had in the last few years in the Championship, and will possibly become to be seen as being right up there, in a select group, as one of our best keepers of all time.

David Raya

It was such a poor pass from the Hull player, I wonder if Raya may even sub-consciously have thought it a back-pass

David Raya

That was Bentley last season

Judging by the EFL highlights on Saturday night, he's still up to his old tricks – but by the same token has also kept five clean sheets in a row.

David Raya

All keepers need these errors to get the recognition on the howler videos
