One to 33 generally would take most players to retirement but maybe not quite for a keeper. What’s a “lifetime” contract proposal?

Is £25m realistic without a contract renewal though? If we get £25m for Raya then that is about 20% of our turnover.
Our TV income (where most of our income will come from) is estimated to be £111m last year. Compare that to Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs who probably got in the region of £140. That's a difference of £29m. So £29m before those other clubs' other income streams which will also dwarf ours.
If we are to compete with clubs for, say, European Football from time to time, then we need to cash-in on players just has we did in the Championship.
And it didn't workout too badly for us in the end there.
I think that would be top end, but PG has a great track record of selling well, so let's see.Is £25m realistic without a contract renewal though?
If there's a year left and more than one rich club are wanting him, why not?Is £25m realistic without a contract renewal though?
I think it's helpful that Spurs and Man Utd (and potentially Chelsea) will all be in the market for a new 1st choice keeper in the Summer. Whether that pushes it up to 25m, who knows. Is £25m realistic without a contract renewal though?
Pope went for £10m with a year left and must have had more than one club interested. Leno went for £8m also in his final year but having dropped to sub keeper. But if there are more than one top 4-6 club interested Raya could go for more. £10m would still show a decent profit if we’re comfortable that Strakosha is a suitable replacement. If there's a year left and more than one rich club are wanting him, why not?
Just not seeing any precedent, it'd put him in the top 10 or 15 gk transfers of all time and from my admittedly lazy googlings they mostly seem to have been younger and or with more time in their contracts. I'd be pleased to be contradicted thoughIf there's a year left and more than one rich club are wanting him, why not?
With his agent in Spain - is it just because there’s no game he’s been allowed to visit home? Or more to it?
Probably just easier for him to be around his agent if they're talking to clubs. With his agent in Spain - is it just because there’s no game he’s been allowed to visit home? Or more to it?
Of course there could be more to it, but a man travelling to his home country when he's got a few days off shouldn't really be a cause for speculation! With his agent in Spain - is it just because there’s no game he’s been allowed to visit home? Or more to it?
Seems like Lloris was included more for his career achievements than actually being one of the best players in the world right now. Very odd. Ronaldo is number 51 which itself also seems strange, I mean he couldn't even get into Portugal's team by the end of the WC.The Guardians poll 100 of the Worlds Best Footballers ( Male) started today. Don't hold out much hope for Bees in there and probably better to still be a little bit below the radar. Llorris a new entry at 76, go figure.
It’s more that he’s with his agent, who has captioned the photo “something’s cooking!”Of course there could be more to it, but a man travelling to his home country when he's got a few days off shouldn't really be a cause for speculation!

Is this unexpected? He's reported to have turned down our offer, other clubs are in for in and I suspect his agent may be speaking with them to secure a deal. It’s more that he’s with his agent, who has captioned the photo “something’s cooking!”
... and "little things" could be tapas, certainly eating in a (presumably) top notch Spanish restaurant. Not much to see here, really. They are in a restaurant...

TF would be better for a watch sponsor! The new face of Tag Heuer?
Or possibly a hotel reception? They are in a restaurant...

You are not a poster whom one will question lightly so although surprised at such a low estimate I will accept it. David Raya is such an important part of our team that we have to consider just how many points and wins his being in goal give us. Finishing very high in the table brings in extra money plus the possibility of a Euro spot. So another season and a half of possible extra revenue must surely be taken into consideration when deciding to permit a transfer. If the club are not to receive adequate compensation then it begs the question that the astute way of proceeding would be to allow DR to run his contract down. It will be interesting to see our decision making, and to see just how much the fee is, unless the club takes the other route.Pope went for £10m with a year left and must have had more than one club interested. If we finish top 6 another possibility is that Raya reconsiders the lifetime offer we’ve made and we could probably get £5-10m for Strakosha given his experience and contract length!

Thanks- Just guessing really as I don’t know the club’s strategy here. I’d expect they would in this window ask for big money or no move. In the summer if he’s not going to re-sign and the club has confidence they’ve got a good replacement in Strakosha or some other target they’re unlikely I think to hold DR to seeing out his deal. I was surprised at how little Pope as a similar calibre keeper went for as Burnley got good money for McNeil (!) and Cornet so aren’t mugs. You are not a poster whom one will question lightly so although surprised at such a low estimate I will accept it. For all we know Pope might have had a relegation release clause in his contract, which are typically quite low.Thanks- Just guessing really as I don’t know the club’s strategy here. 15m would be a stealI think it's helpful that Spurs and Man Utd (and potentially Chelsea) will all be in the market for a new 1st choice keeper in the Summer. Whether that pushes it up to 25m, who knows.
As an example, Pope cost 10m with a year left on his contract last Summer. Raya is better and younger, but I think it's an indicator. My guess would be 15-20m.
Maybe just copying and pasting what that Luca chap posted and guessing on Man Utd "talking" to him but who knows....
Looks like a hotel…..?They are in a restaurant...
Shall we agree hotels have restaurants and bars, also receptions?Looks like a hotel…..?
They can talk to his agent. They can’t talk to him unless we have given permission.
But is it the best time to sell? What would be the price premium of selling him in this window as opposed to the summer? Balance that against how important he is to how we play currently bearing in mind each place higher in the Premier League is worth over £3M.Financially now is probably the best time to sell, he will be gone in the summer anyway, we would need to sign another
keeper and Cox go out on loan to gain league experience.
I would rather him go in the summer lol at how we struggled without him last seasonFinancially now is probably the best time to sell, he will be gone in the summer anyway, we would need to sign another

If there are clubs desperately in need of a top 'keeper in order to win something (or avoid relegation) in the current season then they will pay a premium in the January window. January or summer, if there's demand and competition then the price and terms can be managed rather like an auction. But is it the best time to sell? As it has always been in the transfer market. As PG has stated in the recent past, we don't need to sell any player unless a ridiculous offer is received. The obvious caveat to that is if a player if determined to move and stinking the place out. Very relaxed as to when we sell Raya since I am sure we several contingency plans in place at better value. I don’t think there’s any evidence of him stinking the place out with his attitude. He’s playing very well and looks very happy when we do well. If there’s a substantial offer afoot now I think the timing is OK as we have ten days to our next game and Strakosha will have had half a season of learning exactly what we need from our keeper. Even the WH game is good for having reminded him that we set up to not mind shots from distance so he needs to be ready for them.As it has always been in the transfer market. Sorry no suggestion that Raya's attitude has been nothing but exemplary, it was a generalisation when making reference to we are under no pressure to sell any player unless a ridiculous high bid made other than an unhappy player forcing a move.I don’t think there’s any evidence of him stinking the place out with his attitude.
