Christ on Ice! Look at his face!he looks like John Madejski's evil twin brother who's just eaten Simon Jordan.
The Southend site airbrushed out the real reason for that rapist-like smile .Excellent summing up in my opinion. Very unlucky not to take the club to the next level. Finishing second the ONE EFFING SEASON that only one side went up will haunt me forever. Great as a manager. But we all know what happened next .Webb was an amazing appointment at the time IMO. We needed a manager and he had just been shafted by Chelsea (all from memory), I remember pissing my undies in excitement when he was announced as our new man. The football was mostly good, he let Terry Evans go too soon and by the end we had bottled some good chances to go up. I liked him as our manager, he came across as a crafty manager who IMO gave us good PR when interviewed on the box. It's a shame he was hiding the fact that he was such a fecking snake, the £ signs obviously got to him as I always believed that he had genuine feelings towards our club. He was a 100%er, I saw him play in a charity game at Loftus Road on that plastic pitch, he went in for a slide tackle and took all the skin off his knee, later he did the same to the other knee when most would have simply left it after the first experience. Lack of brains or loads of guts? I think the latter and I would prefer to have been left with good thoughts about a bod who gave us many good times, however ........
Mind you, he did manage to score a goal (at Brighton?) which was more than Murray Jones did, and he cost less so that makes him a bargain in my book![]()
from the BBC website ---- Webb getting his fingers into the finances again already - and less than a week in the job!

Not convinced I would have recognised him if I’m honest
They both did untold damage to the club during their time and after, but I’d dispute that Webb was worse than Noades. Webb was an opportunist who saw a chance to make himself money, but Noades was a vindictive, hateful character who tried his best to destroy this club.Worse villain than noades…
Both are a pair of cnts.Well that was a nice claiming commute home until this message cropped up. My blood pressure had just calmed after the Chelsea game too. Worse villain than noades and he’s still alive.
W£bb OUT!
Both are a pair of cnts.

That day at Wembley ?I refer to horshambees’ succinct answer.
Will never forgive him for sticking McGee upfront and Asaba on the wing in that playoff final. This is even before we get into Eddie May, Clive Walker and Leon Townley.
Ricky Reina, a bloke who looked like he'd fail a medical for a walking football team.I refer to horshambees’ succinct answer.

Unfortunately, just a whole series of painful reminders…I had hoped the reactivating of this thread was going to advise us of other news relating to his demise
Not yet.I had hoped the reactivating of this thread was going to advise us of other news relating to his demise
Thats an Insult to Avid Merrion/Leigh Francis ?Looks a character from Bo Selecta nowadays then
Yes, wasn't he 17/18 years old then?Anyone else remember when Webb gave Marcus Bent an absolutely rollicking in a home night game. At the time felt sorry for Bent when all the fans saw it. Not how I would man managed anyone.
Remember also he once played Scott Canham to make a point to the fans and we ended up losing three points. Don’t think he ever rated him.
Very young indeed.Yes, wasn't he 17/18 years old then?
He tore Marcus Bent a new one and I’d only seen that in non league football before. Came to understand it was the norm, it just usually was out of sight of fans but let’s face it W£bb was always as subtle as a brick on the headAnyone else remember when Webb gave Marcus Bent an absolutely rollicking in a home night game. Came across in the video as someone who had just learned to read. Whoever wrote the script for him would have done well to look up the meaning of ‘mercurial’ beforehand.

That's my take on him - we played some wonderful football under him (no I wasn't one of the fans that wrote a letter to him not to take the Southampton job) but then as you say turned into a ****He really could have been a good manager, his time with us should be fondly spoken about but he was simply a @@@@ and his @@@@ness won the day and lost us.
After the well known childrens' character Rupert the ****Why did Stan used to “affectionately” call the **** “Rupert”? Maybe cos it’s a ****’s name & he’s a ****.
I remember the Bent incident. As for Canham - he was great whilst on loan but sh*t once we signed him proper! Bit like the big black bloke from Wycombe. Totally unplayable when he appeared for them in the 3-3 draw but absolute garbage when we signed him. Akindie?Anyone else remember when Webb gave Marcus Bent an absolutely rollicking in a home night game. At the time felt sorry for Bent when all the fans saw it. Not how I would man managed anyone.

And Leo Fortune West.I remember the Bent incident. As for Canham - he was great whilst on loan but sh*t once we signed him proper! Bit like the big black bloke from Wycombe. Totally unplayable when he appeared for them in the 3-3 draw but absolute garbage when we signed him. Akindie?

Agree with you on Canham. Thought he was superb for us on loan but never really did it for us when he joined. A bit like Kruszynski but in another era.I remember the Bent incident. Got him! Sorry. Hit the bar in 2nd half v Fulham in that 4 nil at home game. As you say great in the run in on loan. Next season merr.....Detzi - We won all 6 of the games he played for us when we signed him on loan and got promoted as Champions in 91/92.
