Do We Need Another Forward??

Trotta has proven he knows where the back of the net and has scored some great goals for us, orient away last season and Chelsea in the cup. If we take him on loan it costs us his salary, gives Grey a break. Not getting in the team at Fulham also potentially means he is hungry for game time and to show what he can do in the championship. This has to be a logical move for us and him but let's see what MW chooses to do, in MW we trust!

Logical and not as much of a gamble. He knows the players, he knows the club, he has a proven goal scoring record, its a no brainer for me.

NP is supposed not to be ready, Betinho hasnt played, Hogan was injured when we signed him. We need somebody now not in 6 weeks.

I guess all uninjured players are fit, I would imagine he would have to be fit to play football, perhaps he's just not skillful enough at the moment and is being worked on, who knows ?

We do need another striker but has to be the right one and strangely enough there are not many good strikers available. So you have to take a chance and this leads to, on many occassions not working as you all hoped. We need another lucky loan like Rhodes, where an unproven teenager steps up, albeit 2 divsions lower. If it was easy we would have one.

Except that didn't David Weir basically say there is no chance Fulham will loan him to a rival

Looking at the size of him we could just wedge him in the goal and play a 0-0-10 formation knowing full well nothing is getting past him. No need to bring any strikers in

I reckon Grey will be a far better player than CD. In many ways they have similar qualities, power, pace and the ability to harass defences but Grey has far more potential at just 23.

We still need another striker. Ideally the lad Sisto from Midtjyland who looks an unbelievable prospect.

Our last loanee keeper from Arsenal won us 10 extra points, by all accounts ( (c) Opta )

I'm not so sure that Gray needs a rest at the moment. He's just scored a couple and looks full of running and confidence. My instinct is that he needs a prolonged run in the team. It's just starting to come good for him - he's got himself much fitter, he's gaining experience by the week and he's just beginning to come alive. Give him his head and I think he might get four or five more before the new year.

And, remember that after Millwall he gets two weeks rest anyway due to the international break. Then the games come slightly less regularly as there are fewer midweek games in the winter. He might need a break in January or February but for the minute I'd be inclined to let him off the leash and see how much more damage he can cause.

I wouldn't underestimate the impact having someone like Lee in the dressing room can have, one of the most positive people about, certainly someone I'd want to see become coaching staff once his playing days are up.

I'm sure he is a good guy but he's being paid to play football not motivate players on the training field, that's Warbs and David Weir's job.

Harsh I feel, he has been injured and it's never seemed to really heal. Keepers are a strange breed and whilst Royce may be the official coach I am sure that Lee's influence and experience are of value

With regards to costs that's one for the " bean counters" but if they are happy with the present status quo then so should we be

So by that logic anyone not in the starting eleven is a drain on the wage bill? Makes you wonder why we have a squad at all doesn't it? Also you mention Warbs and Weir so maybe we only need one person doing the motivating so we can save a few quid there???

Do you work for Aldi or Lidl by any chance?

Sorry Les but I think that's what a lot of us were on about, not a replacement for Gray, but someone to give him rest and cover for injuries and suspensions,
personally I have always been a fan of Gray and in fact said that I had never been so sure of a players potential but we need a player who can come on and
make an impact when he has gone off/or is suspended or heaven forbid injured, a week hasn't changed that for me.

Our need for additional influence at the front of the line remains as true today as it was this time last week. However, what we now know (and probably always did) is that Andre Gray is an asset to Brentford FC. Thanks for what you achieved for us this week, Andre.

I said it before we need cover in defence and all 3 of the 5 positions the centre 2 we have maybe the best in championship

This is what Matthew Benham told us about his player..
in england you either have to have an EU passport or go through the strict criteria - playing in 75% of competitive games for a top 70 country over the last 2 years. or go through appeal, but they want to make the appeals far harder. its far, far easier in the rest of Europe if you dont have an EU passport.

for example, pione sisto is 19, he has lived in denmark since he was 3 months old - his family were refugees from south sudan. he wont get his danish passport until january, so cant play for the national team until then

he could play for any team in europe - lille tried to buy him in the summer - but couldnt play in england

I'm pretty happy with what we have and who can fit into different positions. Personally, my only concern is not having a forward to compete with, or to be able to rest, Andre Gray. Losing Hogan was a blow. NP, I'm still not sure about, but that's covered elsewhere. If cover was needed, MW would look at the loan market as and when it's needed. Moses has been better at RB the last few games than he was RM. He seems to relish coming from a deeper position and has scared the opposition more from there than his normal position. For left back, we have TC, O'Shaugnessy and Aaron Greene. For CB, we have TC, HD, JT and DO. Plus Mawson who we could call back if needed in January.

I'm not worried at all about our position as yet.

We've got two weeks before our next game. I'm sure Warbs has a few people in mind and some one will be signed before Fulham, so they can add the fifth in our rout!

The fact that he get's his Danish passport in January and is under contract until 2019 to a club owned by MB is what got me thinking. I could be jumping the gun but this kid could be a superstar. Definately a touch of Ronaldo about him.

You can't have a squad of 30 first team players with multiple cover in every position. We have two RBs, Macca and Nico who have had injury problems and hence Moses is covering. It's a position he is reasonably familiar with. So that's 3 players who can play RB. No addition needed. We have 3 excellent CB and Calvet who is as yet an unknown quantity. I agree there is no obvious cover on the left, but I assume MW has a plan should there be a problem. And this is what the emergency loan system is designed for no?
