Most of the squad can play in different positions. Macca was a centre back for Swindon for a season as well. Is Gray a forward or a right winger? Is TC a centre back or a left back? They may have a favoured position, but most can play in several.

Our need for additional influence at the front of the line remains as true today as it was this time last week. However, what we now know (and probably always did) is that Andre Gray is an asset to Brentford FC. Thanks for what you achieved for us this week, Andre.

I think Andre has proved himself as a first choice Championship striker, which given the step up he's made this season is remarkable. But I would like to see another forward in the squad who could take some of the burden off him.

Macca has played there for best part of two seasons. Nico can certainly play there. Moses has looked good in the position. We have 2/3 players who can do the job. And do the job well. That's more than enough.

Perhaps underlined more so over the past couple of games in a perverse kind of way because it's highlighted just how good we can be with a striker on top of his game. If Gray were to get injured...well, it's enough to make you shudder.

Playing 1 or 2 games in midfield in the last 12mths suggests the people that matter don't agree with you at the moment. He's a defender.

On another day the ref could have sent off Gray - we all know how inconsistent they are. Then we would be looking at big Nick for Fulham. I completely trust MW to do the best with what is available, but it is a worry not to have more options up top.

If every player seems to be getting pigeon-holed into one position by some on here then Kevin O'Connor is a centre forward as this is where he played when he turned pro.

Even most Sunday morning players are more than capable of playing in various positions and I just don't get this idea that a player HAS to play in the position that he is normally accredited with.

Over the years we have had success with defensive or midfield players being turned into strikers with success - Billy Cobb,Denny Mundee and Stewart Houston to name but three.

And as a point of interest Jake Bidwell started his footballing career as a goalkeeper - perhaps those who advocate players should not change positions want to see Jake in the No 1 shirt...

agreed...but he needs at least a bit of competition up front....even if its only in training...it would be great if we had 2 strikers who were similar....the arsenal lad at MK plays like andre.

Couldn't agree with this more. We need another striker so we are not too reliant on Gray, however well he is playing, it would be naïve and new Brentford is better than that... MW and FMP will be doing all they can to find the right player...

Yes we do need another QUALITY striker, however I don't think we'll get anyone on loan any better than what we have. I would hope that the management have their eye on a striker that we can buy in the January Transfer window. Any striker worth his sort will have to be brought, since players of any calibre likely to improve our squad will be playing week in, week out with a club where he's scoring goals, just hope that Andre can keep his fitness and keep scoring until this time. We dont want another journeyman striker joining the ranks, just to see out his playing career and earning a fortune at our expense

Arguably our first choice striker was crocked for the season before a ball had even been kicked - I wouldn't say we've been lucky! It's another testimony to the club - and to Andre - that he's turned out to be a more than adequate replacement.

Nonetheless, we would be up poo creek if we were really unlucky and had Andre ruled out as well, so we do need to get in another person who can play in Andre's position. If we're being kind, big Nick might fulfil some role, but that role is not as our first choice striker at the top of our formation.

Again - the club would have been f***ed by two injuries in the same position, not one. We need some cover (who knows if we'll ever see Betty), but we shouldn't gear ourselves up to lambast the club for 'not acting' when Andre ends up out for three games.

I have no doubt that the powers that be are equally aware of the potential problem should Grey be injured, however there is a great difference between a wish and finding the right player who will fit in seamlessly within the " group"

There will be issues about match fitness for anyone who comes in as they will have probably had little game time, whilst a "name" is likely to be past their sell by date and probably demand big money

We would all like a new face and I for one am confident that Warbs and co are doing all they can to find a replacement/cover

There were lots of possible alternatives regarding the injury to Mac, including getting someone in on loan. The chances of replacing what Andre is now giving us, and at short notice, are much less.

Exactly right. We already knew that Moses or Nico were decent possible options for the right back slot. Sadly, if Andre were to get injured, the only real options that we have - Big Nick or Betty - don't exactly inspire me with confidence, and Montell Moore is too inexperienced at this level. Possibly Dallas might be able to do a reasonable job as a stop-gap.

Having said that, as others have commented, I'm sure that the powers that be are doing all that they can to plug this gap, and I know that there is no easy, cheap solution.

I'm loving the Andre talk here. He's doing a great job and I've loved his effort from day one, considering the massive jump he made. MW & MB have done us proud again with the unearthing of a potential ( I stress potential) gem, but please everyone be calm and consider its been just one week. Granted a week I'll struggle to better as a bees fan, but 1 week all the same. Yes we need more striking depth but I personally want to see Judge & Pritch step up a bit to relieve the pressure slowly building on Andre. We are now thinking he's a 20+ goals man which we've not had in our midst for many a season. To expect that in the championship is really a tall order. My hope is MW waves his magic wand again and gets the midfield piling the goals in, whilst Betty, or Nick perhaps get game time as well and Andre quietly becomes our new goal scoring machine.

It wasn't meant to be this way but the injury to Hogan had limited our pool. However we still have Big Nick plus Moses or Dallas could do a job through the middle. Consolidation is the aim this year and we are well ahead of schedule!

I rekon we will sign a forward before the loan window shuts. I would say is almost guaranteed . If Gary got injured we would be up sh*t creck with out a paddle. Wabrs knows we can't go to January with only Gary as our only real forward .
