Don't Panic

just a cautionary note to a percentage of fans, nobody likes losing games, players, fans, manager but its only been 2 games, theres no need to panic as even at carlisle there were fleeting signs of what these players can do and how far andy scott has come in a relatively short space of time, all we need to do is get behind the team and it'll all be fine. those who have been booing need to look at themselves and consider what use it is to the club as a whole to slate the team after 2 games, theres no need to start like a house on fire and collapse later in the season, granted we dont need to get too far behind the rest but if we believe and keep trying as we all know both us as fans and they as players and management can we'll come good in the not too distant future.

look at the first two games carlisle, sloppy performance but the goals they were given could both have been disallowed never and pen and offside/ handball. warsaw, by all accounts burried them but mistake cost us, the team havent had a fortnight in its current form as they learn each others game watch us rise..... PMA

Im not panicking because i predicted a 12th place for this season.
i think your carlisle summery is rose tinted glasses, your right about the two goals they scored , but for god sake man, they played us off the park, could easy of been 2 goals up in 5 mins, hit the woodwork twice, i was thinking we were lucky to only lose 2-0 on the long trip home.
As for walsall , yes it was much better but still not good, they were a avg team and we rolled over

Don't Panic

i think we have a better overall squad than last year so i have every confidence we will do as well.

The big issue isn't what As has done in the past but whether the style and tactics can ever improve our status. I don't think so and can only see mid table consolidation. For the first time in years we have a bit of financial backing and a chance to move on. If after 10 games we aren't shaping up I'd look for a change.

We will finish comfortably above both Carlisle and Walsall.

Come on boys lets get behind our lads, sloppy start, but alot of the better teams start off a bit shaky. We're worrying about nothing, remember half the squad is new, so give it time. Come 23 games if we are still struggling, THEN worry

Don't Panic

It's only two games.

Virtually every side in this division will lose two consecutive games at some stage this season - ours just happens to be the first two.

Don't Panic

We haven't won a single game all season :(

Don't Panic

I'm nowhere near panicking just yet. I have been seriously frustrated at a few of the team choices recently, mainly the lack of Spillane, and do not think we have played anything like as good as we are capable of yet but think it will come as the guys settle and gel..... it just needs to happen pretty soon!

Don't Panic

We won against Cheltenham? If we were playing really badly and losing I would be panicking, however I have faith in Andy Scott and against Walsall we totally outplayed them and just gave away a couple of sloppy goals. Much more for that team to give.

It is true, I believe we will finish higher than both the teams we have lost to so far.

Don't Panic

Only seen the Carlisle game this season so can't really comment on the team, however I can comment on the reaction to AS.
There are many on here who obviously don't like either him or his tactics, this has been obvious from when he took over and just seems to increase the more successful he becomes.Yes I feel he's been successful, sorry to some, and feel that he's improving the side constantly.
I don't know why Spillane isn't in the team, but after his performance at Carlisle when he was anonymous I can understand. There must be a reason for Spillane not being selected, do people really think that AS would bring somebody in and then deliberately not play him to p*ss them off? He has to justify himself to the board and I can't see him having anything other than footballing reasons.
There are the constant gripes about players out of position, the latest has been KOC yesterday yet there were some who suggested this selection as the other boo boy target has been playing there. The number of players is now another source of anguish, we've got soooooooo many that some will get left out and be disgruntled! They're professional footballers and, assuming they want to be successful, must expect to have challenges to their place.
I'll not be saying 'keep the faith' because there are many who have no faith. I'll just close by saying that personally I feel we're in the healthiest position on and off the field for a long time. We have a manager who appears committed to the club and team with the backing of a solid, intelligent board and benefactor with sense as well as money.

Keep up the good work Andy, onwards and upwards.

Andy Scott

OK no panic, but let's be clear, this is a p--s poor start to the season. AS has not solved the lack of an attacking midfielder that can link play from back to front. Dave is a step, but not the answer. Our transfer dealings are puzzling, another goalkeeper issue, Woodman clearly isn't the left back solution,OAP strikeforce & no right back, anyone who saw KOC there yesterday, has to concede he can't play there if we have designs on a top 6 birth. I really do worry about AS in the Transfer market, not sure I'd let him lose with £50 let alone MB's money! He didn't like the boos yesterday, well get the team playing & stop playing players out of position. Perhaps if AS spent more time consentrating on BFC & less being a Sky celebritiy we'd get further. Based on his tactical awareness at Bee's, his opinions are worth diddly squat at present.

Harsh on Woodman in my opinion

I'm disappointed with the start of the season too but I feel you're way over the top with some of these statements.

Woodman for starters has been fine both games I've seen. Also
Scott's record in the transfer market is fine, look at the quality of players he's brought in this year.

Re central midfield we don't know whether he missed targets. Alternatively he may be happy with his midfield players.

I personally don't overly enjoy the style of football we play but if we get results so be it. If we don't get results with the resources apparently available then the board will no doubt take action. Scotty's still got much to learn but one league 2 title and a 9th place finish last year means he's much better than you suggest and certainly doesn't warrant this kind of attack after two early season losses.

Don't Panic

Woodman clearly isn't the left back solution

Can you justify this please???

IMO he was one of our best players on Saturday, good passing, solid in the tackle and comfortable on the ball. He is no Dickson but so far looks like a pretty solid L1 LB.

Don't Panic

Some of the comments on here are way off.
No one likes the losses, and it's usual that different people will have different opinions on some players, but you've got to be completely blind to be slating AS the way some people are.

Don't Panic

I dont think no one is panicking its more the fact of the way we are playing which could lead to another mid table finish we have the players to play football but aernt.

Very harsh on Woodman. If it wasnt for the keepers foot he would have equalised with his free kick right at the end of the Walsall game. The only thing i can agree with is that Kev shouldn't play right back as he was exposed through lack of pace and would do much better in midfield. As for no right back.......erm Spillane!

Don't Panic

Two edged sword. Good practise for when he's unemployed, and also it was a game the AS might have attended anyway in a scouting capacity so it was a freebie at SKY's expense. :sorted:

The good ship M.V Brentford has had holes in it since last season, that still have to be plugged. There is still a couple of weeks left in the transfer window for AS to hopefully sort this out.

Don't Panic

Have the changes so far been what we need or not?
How do you replace that keeper, impossible and we've gone down a notch or two but better than what we started with.
LB, no chance of replacing him, Woodman is fine but not in the same league even though his is.
KOC or Foster at RB, toss a coin job.
The midfield is better for the re-introduction of Dave but the whole world knows that it should be Dave and another and another doesn't mean Bean, KOC or Hunt.
The same 2 fight it out on the left and they are more than good enough.
Alexander is a massive improvement on Strevens.
Pim and Legge against Bennett and Phillips is a no brainer even though it hasn't looked it so far.
Forster better that Chaz, maybe or maybe not but good competition for both.
RM hasn't been resolved, Simpson has done well but I was hoping for better and is he really the answer to that spot? Time will tell.
I would suggest that we have gone forward in some areas and back in others, we have better strength in depth and a much stronger bench because of this.
How much forward have we actually gone and are we going to have plug it all with loans again? I really hope not.

you say stronger bench.....well we lost at home to Walsall and only used 2 subs, I can't work that one out.

When you see those dugouts and couple that with rebus and nana in the posh seats, you realise how "non-league" we actually are.

completely unfair on woodman. dont have a problem with "oap" strikers if they are still good enough and i would say, so far, that forster looks well up for it.

Don't Panic

I threw my season ticket at the dugout whent he final whistle went. Then I realised the dugouts had moved.
Ending up taking out a steward by accident.

The odds for staurday should be interesting given both teams poor couple of results.

I'm 90 mins from a hissy fit/panic.

Don't Panic

Woodman clearly isn't the left back solution,.

some of your points can be justified but this is rediculous, Woodman was our best player SAT, did you not see the little outside of the boot flick to play in Weston in the 2nd half? if he'd had a football brain he would have got that and been a good couple of yards in front of the RB

:imwith: I very impressed with Woodman on Saturday. He has a lovely left foot and looks a very intelligent player.

Well summed up regarding the playing side,My PANIC is regarding the home support under 3800 for the first home game, admittedly after a poor opening game result.Season ticket sales down by about 10% despite a pretty good first season back.I dont have the answers on this, the obvious ones recession
prices ect are used as an answer but the fact is our core support appears to be in decline. The initiative of cutting prices for the Cheltenham game was not a success so l cant see the club trying that for league games, although a lot of people l spoke to saturday where not aware of this.Maybe this will be addressed under the new "Comunications thingy"Really hope for all of us who are still attending that Mathew Benham has more staying power. We are told by officials of the club on here that "every thing is going to plan".well l am pretty sure a business man, even though a Bees fan, will not be comfortable putting in more money every season to supplement the clubs shortfall through the gate.Getting it right on the field doesnt seem to be having a positive affect.

Me too.

He has a knack for dead ball delivery. I was praying we didn't go for goal with the last minute free kick. He was an outstretched foot from getting us a point.

Not panicking but hoping we settle down soon particularly at the back. For all his game reading KOC was left for dead by the guy who got one on one in the second half.

Bit after the stable door has bolted but should we looking for more testing games preseason? Its alright beating a poor Woking side and hardly letting them have a sniff but does that breed a false sense of security?

Does Scott have a problem when he's spoilt for choice? All the problems about selection, playing people out of position, use of subs etc. seems very reminiscent of the beginning of last season. Did our better form in the second half of last season coincide with the squad being thinner and the first 11 near-enough picking itself every week?

Yes! We have too many players for our level and AS is trying to keep them all happy. He likes to shuffle the pack as we all know.

There is real quality in the squad.

roflroflrofl at that.

How can we have too many players?

I believe we have 24 registered as players of which one is a goal keeping coach which leaves 23.

Two of those are injured leaving 21. Of those on is a young keeper who really needs to be on loan leaving 20.

The match day squad consists of 18 leaving two unused players

FFS we are not Man City with 37 pros on our books

Agree, but we do have some good players in the ranks. Perhaps three or four players fewer and a little extra on wages on the signings we do make would give the sort of quality we are looking for. But we will get injuries, and so this time next month we may be more grateful for the depth.

Don't Panic

dont think there is any need for panic but think the booing was because of the manner of our play which is poor to watch & will not improve attendances if we keep playing the way we do
