drop dobson

he gets roasted for pace week in week out.
i know we all love his commitment but i saw a slug burn him off near the halfway line this afternoon.

drop dobson

I've got to disagree with you there, Neil, I think Dobson is crucial to the team

drop dobson

You've got to be joking....hes (other than Hunty) the most commited player we have. And despite not being particualrly quick or influential he adds alot to our side.

drop dobson

I am sorry but I agree he should be dropped .
I just cant understand why so many people think he is wonderful.
His crosses have been appalling all season .

drop dobson

100%committed to the cause imho but today he took on to many players when he should of given it first time.hesd going through a bad patch but we cant afford to drop him

was that slug our left back by any chance?

drop dobson

I think he should play in midfield where his lack of pace would not be too crucial. He has a good shot on him as well.

And who is going to be our regular right-back then? Please enlighten the rest of us.

The problem lies within the fact that our squad is not good enough for this division, but we are still clinging on with our fingernails. Fortunately, I truly believe that there are 4 worse teams than us. Wycombe for certain, Notts County, Oldham and Peterborough (especially haven gotten rid of their only decent player).

Wally and his inept team are paid to prepare the players for the matches and we have all seen the result of that really since he took over.

Dobbo is supposed to lead them on the pitch which IMHO he does not do very well but when you look at our squad who else is a leader? 'Normally', you would have at least one 30 something i.e. family man, seen it, done it etc etc. especially when the average age of the squad is 22/23.

Dobbo in midfield? Yes, but 'Wally' bring in some experience in January. I cannot believe how inept he has been at addressing this issue apart from expecting the likes of Jay Smith to step up to the mark. Jay Smith - Mark Williams = the same result but at least Williams came off the bench at Dorchester and won us a game. I cannot remember one significant contribution that Jay Smith has made in terms of us actually winning a game.

Unfortunately though, Rougier didn't even make the starting XI.

This potential candidate for captain was a regular in Port Vale's Division One, but evidently our tactical genius only sees him as someone for the bench in a poor Division Two side.

drop dobson

I don't agree that Dobbo should be dropped. We have no one to fill in that role instead of him and I think he is one of the best crosses of the ball we have.

drop dobson

As a captain Dobson isn't close to the likes of Paul Evans, Bates, Paul Smith, Terry Evans etc. But he's probably the best candidate of the lot. As for Rougier, no way he can be captain. I know everyone loves him but i've seen 3 good performances from him, hasn't looked committed to me recently.

Thoroughly disheartened with it all today. I accept that they are young and inexperienced. BUT (and i may be old fashioned) professional footballers should be able to pass to each other across 10 meters. And (i know i'm pushing it now) what about a tackle? Can't remember winning any 50/50's today. If you can't do the basics you'll get relegated and i'm very concerened at the moment. Both teams were toilet, but that was 1 of the worst things i've seen at gp!

drop dobson

As a right back Dobbo is at best average in our "poor second division" side. As a captain he is awful - I've never heard a captain do as little in terms of motivating a side. When he's been out Hunty has done a lot better - he shouts. It may seem obvious, but for a captain it really helps.

In conclusion, I agree. Kitimarike is a right back anyway. If we have sonko and roget then there's no problem. But by dropping Dobbo we'd give a message out to the rest of the team that whoever you are, you can't be complacent. So start winning us some damn games you b*stards.

drop dobson

On an aside, Rougier deserves to be shot for his miss today. And he always fails to show hustle - he may be our oldest player, but he will never be a leader of a team.

WarrenBee said:

Agree totally. In many ways he's suckered us good. If we end up with Rougier and Roget in the reserves pulling in our highest wages I'll be well ann*yed.

drop dobson

Tony Rougier as capain ????? you have to be joking surely the qualities for the role are lead by egsample be totaly commited and talk to the rest of the team, OK he talks but as for the rest give me strength!!!j
I accept that Dobbo is not the worlds greatest however I actualy beleive he is playing better this year, he does lacl pace but nobody could acuse him of not being commited. Give me a team with the spirit of Dobbo Hunt and Tabby and I will give you a team that is reasonably succesful.
I firmly beleive he would do better in the centre of midfield where he could tacjle and hussle, and bearing in mind he can use both feet something of an advantage,
It would leave a problem at RB however surely to god we have enough defenders how about playing 5 across the back with Allen Page Joel Sonko Summer Frampton/Fieldwick that releases Dobbo to play as a battling Midfielder.
So please dont suggest we drop Dobbo from the tam just yet there are at least 7 candidates whose name should be put forward for dropping first. Including the management!!!!!!!!!

drop dobson

Dobbo's not the problem, he puts in a number of decent crosses every game but you need someone to get on the end of them.

He was playing in midfield yesterday as a wing back.

drop dobson

Dobson is very important to the team ,he has had his drop in form like everyone else but he would allways be the first name on my team sheet if i was in charge.

drop dobson

We would score more goals with Dobbo in midfield as he would be within range of goal to shoot and he would put in more dangerous crosses due to being further up the field.

However it may be too late in the season to make wholesale defensive changes. Of our current crop I would like to see this back 4 tried out.

Kitimarake Somner Roget Sonko

drop dobson

I think Dobbo looks a weak link, and in many other circumstances his place would be under threat, but Downes has given himself no other option on the right side of defence, so Dobbo is more or less undroppable.

My solution is to accept that any opposition winger faster than a tortoise will walk past him, play him at wing back and stick an extra defender in behind him.

He is a good crosser, whatever some people are saying, bit I would agree that he ahs never looked a captain. I particularly remember when he lost his man for Grimsby's first goal and Hunt gave him a right boll*cking. You could clearly see who was leading the team then.

Watching him lose a 20 yard race by 5 yards, having had a 10 yard start, for Swindon's second, wasn't hugely encouraging either.

drop dobson

Hang on - drop Dobbo?

 :nono:  :nono:  :nono:

There are about 8 other players that DO need to be dropped, but captain Dobbo is NOT - repeat, NOT :nono: - one of them. Only he, Hunty and Tabby consistently try their hardest for the cause.

I think Somner can be thrown in there aswell. Not the quickest or the best at left back but those last ditch tackles he makes shows how much he wants it.

Wally may have a case because the previous week Rougier was out with a back injury and may have still be recovering. On the other hand with the way Wal chops and changes it, our most creative and probably highest earner may have been dropped. :nono:

Is this thread a wind-up?

What we need at the moment are 11 Dobbos out there giving everything to the cause.

Hunt also argued with Paul Smith which nearly came to blows, in front of Swindons jeering fans. That makes ill feeling and good leadership eh?

Matty D you are a plonker.

You need a captain that gives 110% and is a bit mouthy. He don't have to be big except in personality.Step foward Stevie Hunt.
Steve plays left back, wing back and left wing all in one game.Who else have we got who can do that?.

Nope , dead serious

I think his crossing with either foot is pretty immpressive.

Didn't see that from Brook Road (although it does explain why the Swindon fans were getting at Smith). If it really did go that far then not what you want to see between your own players, but there's no harm in a captain giving his players an earbashing from time to time.

Which goes back to the point I was making - Hunt acts like the captain of this team, even if its Dobbo wearing the armband. Not Dobbo's fault, he was given the captaincy by default as he was the most experienced player we knew would be with us for the opening game of last season. Maybe it might have been better to give the armband to someone else between then and now, but compared to some of our other problems its pretty trivial.

Dobbo's one of those home-grown players who you can tell cares passionately (Somner in particular looked gutted after Swindon) but he doesn't marshall the rest of the players like a captain should.

Sorry to say he is becoming a liability at full back. He seems to be getting slower with each game.

I remember when pace was one of his biggest assets. He now seems to be lumbering and top heavy

Have to agree with this. Easily dipossessed, continually lumps the ball up pitch to no-one in particular, no real motivational skills... What exactly has gone wrong, what are his positives these days?

He's probably been reading the sh*te you lot keep writing about the players, then you wonder why they lose there confidence.

Too bloody right! He was reading this thread earlier - I'm sure that gave him "what for" didn't it  No wonder our lads are shot of confidence when they read this crap - and their manager deserves to be sacked - must make them rush out of bed to work in the mornings.

If the players and mangement can't take the brickbats as well as the bouquets, they should find another profession. We are all put under pressure one way or another through our jobs they need to deal with it or go and play semi-pro and try working in the real world for a change.

Absolutely! Would the players rather everyone on here pretended everything was wonderful??
"Oh dear, we lost again, but well done everybody, we all played excellently as a team. We can all keep patting each other on the back and saying well done as we slide down the table towards relegation!"

Sonko, Roget, Somner, Dobson, Smith, Peters, May, Wright, Hunt, O'Connor, Rougier, Evans. They've all had abusive or derogatory threads written about them by you so called "supporters", all very brave hiding behind your computers. If you've got something to say why not say it face to face, or have'nt you got the balls?

drop dobson

It's not the players we should be having a go at, it's that clown of a manager.

No proper tactics. no motivation no one knowing what to do when they get the ball, only follow instructions, hoof it up in the air and see where it lands.

I could go on about the Clown's lack of skills as a manager, but the list is so long it would be christmas 2004 beore i'd finished.

The players are lost they need proper help.

For Brentford's sake go now Wally, before it's too late.

What an interesting turn of phrase. I'm assuming you must either be a player yourself or be closely connected with some of the team?

Some of us "so called supporters" have been supporting the team through thick and thin (mostly thin) for many, many years, my friend!

Are you suggesting that the players and "so called supporters" should get together to allow the "so called supporters" to hurl abuse at the player of their choice? Perhaps this could be done as a Bees United fund-raising event to raise money to save the "so called players" and the "so called manager's" jobs?

What the turn of phrase that supporters are allowed to abuse players without them having redress or you haven' the bottle to tell them face to face. Typical, skip round the point trying to be made and change the subject to suit. Your name isnt Mr Noades is it!

Sorry I clearly misunderstood what you were saying.
Ok, how about the players can shout abuse at the "so called supporter" of their choice as well?
There.. is that better?

wtf are you talking about Noades for, you twerp?

btw , you haven't answered MY point about whether you are a player or closely connected to the team?

So due to your continuing refusal to respond to my point, we can assume that you ARE either a squad player or closely connected to one, yes? :D

Let's play guess who, shall we?
I'll start.... you're NOT Michael Dobson, but you might be close friends with him... am I warm? :D
